Whipflare is actually decent in an NPH-only format (which has the lowest % of artifacts in the block) ... for example, it killed every creature in the pack it's in except the Souleater (which has 3 toughness anyway). It's certainly worth considering over Forced Worship since you only passed white in the first pack.
You were misplaying quite a bit, might want to get more familiar with the deck. R3G1 you had the win on the board, look at 3:05. He was tapped out and you have 6 mana up with Exarch. Exarch can untap one of your lands to give you the last mana you need for the Splinter Twin that turn.
Absolutely.
In dual coloured decks Sphere could have an advantage, but these are mono-coloured.
[I did note which decks were by LE - but my comment wasn't intended to point at anyone, just discuss a small point)
So sad about the Exiler guy not knowing about Mangara / Karakas. I was actually rooting for him at that point. Weird event, lots of random decks. Hopefully some of those players will find this article and step it up.
I kinda agree to the above but I'd like to point out that none of the decks suggested by LE has the Sphere in it, those decks are decklists someone else played (you can see it written under the name of the deck in the lists).
Anyway, I said I kinda agree because in a vacuum the sphere actually gives you a little more flexibility than the wellspring because it lets you add mana of any color while with the wellspring you can only add one land.
That should matter more in limited than constructed and admittedly it may be just a minor thing but it happened quite frequently to me that I had two double colored mana spell of two different colors (like, say, neurok invisimancer and barrage ogre) and I had one land per color in play. Drawing the sphere it will let me play both spells wathever land I may get in the following 2 turns while the wellspring will allow me to play for sure just one of them.
in case you did not count the Dailies again: You can find a table with all Dailies by type here (http://pmtg-forum.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=5167). The number of the respective Daily per week is in brackets next to the type. The site is German and the dates are Central European Time, but don't let that worry you if you just want that count.
I prefer to use Mycosynth Wellspring over Sphere of the Suns. It adds land to help Koth's ultimate, and artifact removal actually makes it stronger. I don't see any up side to sphere over the wellspring.
Great videos. It was interesting watching the deck play out. It seems strong, but not so strong as to be unbeatable. I can see how Cawblade will have a tough time as they really have no instant speed answers other than dismember.
I think your talking about the mishras factory that was from evt, not strip mine.
I have an opinion on art, and card frame. that makes me a jerk?
Also it is 100% correct to play 4x of the same art on a card. It has been established that running 3 different versions of cards only gives your opponents more information.
If your talking about enric's strip mine, there is a reason i said that, either you play crucible of worlds in gush, or you dont play strip mine at all, the deck needs islands to function, and 1 strip mine wont do anything for your win percentage.
Also, there is a HUGE, HUGE difference between me saying, "i hate this art, finish your playset of med1 factories", and "omg your an a$$ hat for beating me, i cant believe you would play those cards and sb like that, you suck"
also my computer wall paper is a ton of different arts, it just happens to reset to factorie all the time, not sure why.
Sorry about the small screenshots. That was a technical issue that I forgot to fix before I put the article up. Error won't happen again, so I'm apologizing in advance.
In typical Sabberlod fashion, he belittles his opponent after being beat. This guy is a grade A Douche! This isn't the first time he has been a sore loser, I've run into his whiney butt more than a few times.
I'm glad you didn't take it personally, because I didn't mean it as such. That being said, I still disagree with this last comment.
Looking at the last 3 days' worth of MTGO Daily Events:
12 out of 22 (55%) of 4-0 decks were WW
38 out of 103 (37%) of 3-1 decks were WW
overall 50 out of 125 (40%) of prize-winning decks are WW.
When keeping that # in mind, remember that the highest metagame share that Caw-Blade has ever gotten in the Standard metagame is about 20%, and we complain that it is everywhere.
WW is defining the format right now. I'll repeat, if a deck can't beat WW, don't consider playing it.
Actually yes, I think you are being a bit harsh. Just look at the recent winning decks from MTGO's daily events and you'll see that people frequently 4-0 and/or 3-1 with UB Control, UB Infect, Red decks of all sorts and Architect Blue. And these are all what I covered so far.
WW Steel is surely one of the decks to watch out but thankfully it is absolutely not the only deck in the format. And really, you don't need my word for it; just check the deck lists and you'll see everything what I covered so far. I am just trying to come up with ways of how to make them better.
And if so, I apologize, but I think it needs to be said. I feel like you are doing many of your readers a disservice here, and are not preparing them well for the format. You have posted something like 10 decks now, and while each deck might look good in theory and can show how many decks might be viable in a vacuum, there's only probably 1 of those that is remotely playable.
Whether we like it or not, WW Tempered Steel defines the format. It is fast, consistent, and everywhere. The #1 question for each deck you post should be, "can this go at least 50-50 with WW?" If not, scrap the deck. And out of two articles, 90% of the decks you posted simply fold to WW, so they aren't playable.
And as echoed above, Surgical Extraction is not a concern. It should not enter your mind when deckbuilding.
Have you considered Hoard-Smelter Dragon as substitute finisher for the first Big Red Deck? I think it can be a house there, especially with a Spine of Ish Sah waiting to be destroyed to give the dragon +7/+0 and the possibility to destroy something one turn later.
It also isn't susceptible of artifact removal like the battleshpere or the Chimeric Mass.
Hi, nice videos, it's the first time I watch them.
1) The Voltaic key costs about 1 tix, so expensive! hahah
2) The Strip Mine is awful, I've cut it from the deck.
3) I only have 1 library, I don't know if it's good to have more but I don't want to spent more money on cards that soon or later will be restricted, like Mystical Tutor.
In that tournament I lost 0-2 agains 2 Oath decks and won 2-0 again 2 random decks, it was awful xD
I think I have to improve the deck or change it, I never felt to have any chance agains the true decks, maybe without P9 Oath is way better than Gush.
I also have a youtube channel with MTGO videos (Legacy mostly), but in spanish: www.youtube.com/ercoman
Whiffy love the articles bro, However the attitude against certain versions of cards is only making the classic players sound like elitest pricks such as Sabberlod who makes a lovely example of with his rant about the opponents deck in round 1. He's did the same to me when I destroyed his merfolk deck 2-0 in the classic que when i joined with my pauper goblins deck on accident once upon a time (its on youtube lol).
Thus making people less likely to wish to join the format in that they would not wish to deal with such attitudes and just stick with legacy or whatever other format they choose.
Anyhow what's wrong with stripmine? You're saying a deck shouldn't run the cheaper better version of the legacy/classic staple wasteland?
@A new hope, I didn't have the time or the magic chops to go in depth explaining why I feel Pure UR is better than grixis, but Mike Flores did a great job explaining his points in these three last sources

Actually I made the right play in the situation you noted, though I did misplay other places as I noted earlier.
You can't play an exarch and immediately slap a twin on him and win. He still has "summoning sickness" and thusly can't begin the combo.
Thanks for the comment!
Um, the upside to Sphere is that it accelerates you, giving you a turn 3 Koth which Wellspring cannot?

I found it rather amusing when whiffy critisized the newer version of factory. Isn't that art his computer's wallpaper?
Anyways, good stuff as always. Your videos are entertaining and informative. I sure wish I could aford the format, it looks like a lot of fun.
Have you considered Hoard-Smelter Dragon as substitute finisher for the first Big Red Deck? I think it can be a house there, especially with a Spine of Ish Sah waiting to be destroyed to give the dragon +7/+0 and the possibility to destroy something one turn later.

Sounds like a confluence of bad things happening. No need to call yourself dumb for it. Everyone makes mistakes. Even Bobby Fisher!
