Just saying cos the "Sekki's Pronunciation Guide" (the mainsite's small column from a long time ago) didn't exist then... I do understand that there aren't many people who know it but cow is definitely way off.
The most annoying mispronunciation in my opinion is Umezawa's Jitte which pops out every now and then as "jyte" which should be jit (jittery's jit) and te (of which the te would sound like a tay without the y sound).
Phitisis is probably the hardest name to try if they didn't have a video on how to pronounce it.
Sorry.. I'm probably the only person who bothers about such stuff.. =x
My fiancee works at a foreign language school, and she and her Chinese students agree that Cao is pronounced "Cow" by most Americans. I actually asked her to ask them before I posted that, because I wasn't sure.
It's just humor, I'm not out to racially offend anyone. If I'm picking on anyone, it's us Americans who never bother to learn foreign languages or foreign pronunciations or where China is on a map.
I'm enjoying the current video format of running a deck through an event and letting folks watch it play out. Standard has taken precedence over the past two weeks for a couple of reasons: it is far easier to find a Standard event that fits my schedule, it seems there are less Standard articles here than Pauper, and honestly I'm just playing more Standard at the moment.
I've played about 30 matches now with the deck I'd like to run for next week's article and it will again be a Standard offering. After that, I'm open to any suggestions folks would like to see.
Sanhedrin said it. I love these articles. And I love not only to watch the videos, but your comments make them priceless. It's an interesting turn you have taken by making articles about T2 decks now - any plans on sticking with that format or are you also going to do some Pauper as you used to?
guile is a pain to fight against when someone skilled is using him just Dhalsim can be...Ive never played against a skilled rose user so my experience with her is strictly versus the CPU in trying to unlock all the hidden characters.
You know, no chinese speaking person would be able to recognize "cow cow"... if you say "chow chow" however, someone might actually know who you're refering to. ;p
You are the funniest writer on puremtgo. Great stuff!
I think the 8/8 human is supposed to be representing the army, since he is the commander of it. So it isnt that one guy is 8/8, its the whole chinese army. I think, or he could just be some big strong dude. :)
Just poor play on the block.
Relic is mostly for Open the Vaults which had risen in popularity but also comes in against RDW for the enchantments which do nothing.
in round four, you decide to trade two solider tokens for your opponents raging ravine while a 3/3 kor firewalker sits on the sidelines.
r2g1 0:15 - "White of the Knight Orchid" lol
r4g1 5:30 - Why not block Raging Ravine with pro red Firewalker?
Who are you boarding in Relic against? Reliquary?
Funny Ive always said Jit Tey in my head and cringe when I hear people say Jit or Jeet.

lol 8/8 human... so absurd. I love how he can suplex almost every dragon in Magic.
I thought maybe you were, but it's so hard to tell with this darn internet thing! Unless you use lots of emoticons. :) ;)
And I guess my own humor is a bit too subtle there. :/

I agree, the videos are great and not boring like text descriptions.
I believe the point of that 'joke' was to be racially insensitive in an offensive way. Apparently some of us Americans enjoy this sort of thing.
i cant imagine why it wouldnt be...

Great deck / idea. Everyone can play on a tier 1 environment with a low budget and a lot of creativity.

Was this article really approved for publishing?!
Love the article and the videos.

card 96 XD
I'm currently playing with Rose and Guile at the moment, no one knows how to fight against them.
I love your sense of Magic humor. I just re-read all 98 cards you've considered so far. It took me nearly an hour.
Your comment about (Lady Zhurong, Warrior Queen) is just so... right. And funny.
I would compare Cao Ren to howling banshee, which is pretty bad when you considered its a badly one-sided m10 draft uncommon
