I like it. Brought back some older reports lol, but that was a good article. I like seeing others branch out into the more creative tribes. And about the BG and RG tribe... now if its was RGB I would say Kavu but instead im picking Shaman
Yeah AJ and I discussed black warriors quite a bit after I put the 8 edict creatures in my deck. AJ of course built the better version with beefier warriors. I can't say I am a huge fan of the Warrior tribe because it seems too easy and is actually quite popular with the aforementioned Paragon being the primary ingredient. On the other hand you have to start somewhere and Warrior is definitely not in the top 10 tribes (yet).
I think your logic for cutting Diabolic Servitude was waaay off base. For starters, Congregate is marginal life gain, and Serra's Embrace is borderline but can be very bomb-y. But if you're low on creatures in a sealed pool that is EXACTLY the reason to play Servitude. IMO Servitude is the best uncommon in the format. it brings back your Chargers, which seems to be you best route to victory, and im pretty sure they can even grab Disciple of Grace since it is NOT a creature enchant. The format as a whole is pretty low on quality creatures and Servitude let's them perform double duty. just my two cents.
Yes, but you can respond to the trigger after it triggers. Mossbridge troll's 5 power is enough to start it, and you can respond to that. I've built decks around the principle.
I'm really glad everyone is into allies these days, theres alot of power in the core of white allies and with so many slots to fill, you can go any way you like.
block valakut plays at least 1 usually, and its also one of the funnest creatures made in a long time. I think the fun factor is whats making the price stay high, and of course the mythic status.
I was surprised to see it over 4 tix though, considering how little competetive play it sees.
Continues to gradually rise. It's got the best record of rising without falling in my chart. Any idea why (other than that it's lots of fun)? Is there a competitive deck playing this? Apologies if it's obvious, I'm out of the loop.
It is at the start of the article. Saturday 12:30 pm eastern standard time. Join tribal with /join Tribal and reg by declaring "reg" in chat. Whomever is running it will inform you of the rules when they close the registration for the event.
I think there's a lot of work to do with any of the decks in the format right now. Too many are either geared solely toward Jund or toward everything else, and that's not a good plan. I do like this particular build, as I've always been a fan of an aggressive deck with disruption to back up the clock.
I personally run RW allies and have had good matchups against Jund for a block vs standard and GW allies and totally wreck vampires for total block matchups. Love searing blaze and burst lightning along with the Hada, blademaster, battlesinger, evangel synergy...sooo consistent on turn 4 to win.
Could someone link me to the info regarding this tournament, like rules and times? I'd like to participate in my first non-pauper tournament and this looks like a good start.
unless the only counter you use are red re-direct spells and the white counters....you are looking at a four color deck. Unless youre switching formats good luck
i wonder how it triggers though...considering there are multiple abilities on the card it makes sense that in response to the initial trigger you could pump something for the win...it does work actually...gatherer FTW
5/1/2009 This ability triggers at the beginning of each of your upkeeps. Whether you control any applicable creatures is checked only when the ability resolves.
5/1/2009 The three parts of the ability happen sequentially. For example, if you control a creature with 9 power when the ability starts to resolve, you'll put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control -- and now, since you control a creature with 10 power, you'll gain 10 life.
Hard casting Archive Trap is fine, but with all the fetch lands and mana ramping in block...its easy to have a tutor or trap or both in hand. Mill for a couple turns and finish with a Roiling Terrain.

If you're going first you can also hit their 3 mana echo creature. Plus Lay Waste is never dead because it cycles.
Would Sadistic Sacrament work for the sideboard? It looks like this + Blightning could take out a lot of problems.

Anybody ?
Stop with the apostrophes! You only need to use them if the word is possessive or a contraction! I can't wait for my week banning to end.

I think the event should be advertised there anyway to lure in more unsuspecting victims...I mean players.
Any deck playing green in block usually runs 1 or 2. Valakut actually run 3-4 now along with Terastodons. It is a game winner when used right.
if the theme idea does take off itd be best to post it up on the Wizards forum to let everyone better kno about it would it not?

IDK was just a suggestion to add Scute Mob

Critical Mass as in the deck archetype...protecting an important creature with counters and Protections and Shroud.
4 Hedron Crab
4 Cunning Sparkmage
3 Kazuul, Tyrant of Cliffs
3 Basilik Collar
3 Everflowing Chalice
2 Jace, the Mindsculptor
4 Roiling Terrain
3 Archive Trap
2 Comet Storm
4 Burst Lightning
3 Trapmaker's Snare
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Arid Mesa
2 Misty Rainforest
2 Tectonic Edge
3 Hamilar Depths
5 Island
7 Mountains

Critical Mass as in the bike movement? j/k. I am guessing Scute Mob + Lightning Greaves.
Yeah but in actually doesn't work. Aria's trigger happens at the beginning of the upkeep.
