Has anyone else noticed the massive amount of Lilliana's going around but no talk of Garruk? I mean I have heard that during the pre-release there were more Lilliana's than usual, but I don't play paper. Am I just misled or is this true? Like is WotC trying to keep the price of this card down by putting more than usual in circulation?
I would love to know your guy's outcome from the sealed and see what the number of Garruks and Lilliana's were out there.
Nice to see more Classic writers! Also, nice to see Welder making a small wave in Classic, which I'm surprised about considering the increasing use of Mental Misstep.
Meh, I was pretty disappointed in the cast this week, to be honest, guys. Not only was the energy low, but also back to the same format of going over Daily Events in detail. >_< Hope you guys haven't so quickly lost the momentum to change and improve the cast.
After opening and trying to play Geist of Saint Traint or however you spell it, it is bar-none one of the most overrated cards ever to get such an amazing amount of hype. Sold it for 13 and moved on.
Surprisingly in the INN sealed, I have seen some weird stuff.
1) Well this isn't weird, but it seems whoever gets invisible stalker out first wins.
2) Lilliana is garbage in Limited and I feel like she won't be so great in constructed.
3) Bonds of Faith, which I had up there as one of the better cards in the set, it's as good as I would like.
4) The blue Zombie flyers are really good in limited.
5) The flip cards other than the rare vampire are garbage since they can rarely turn.
6) In STD, red deck wins will be the most played deck.
7) If you opponent has 13 1/2 spider tokens and you have no creatures, top decking a Geistflame with 5 mana and he is down to 2 life will end up in you receiving a lot of hate mail from the opponent. It isn't my fault Geistflame is badass. I can't wait to upload that video to youtube, I'll send him the link.
Just to point out, my blue deck is a prototype for a snapcaster build. Hence all the instant card drawing.
It was made with a vintage thirst for knowledge build (from yrs ago) as a base.
Tfk and fof have very little showing in classic so i wanted to see what numbers would work.
My testing for the more popular workshop variants busted out when i realised that my mox replacements were too bad for that deck to be viable.
With snapcasters, I would probably play claim in the sb to drop red out for a more stable mana base since snapcasters would let me replay them.
I sure hope that the events fire this week As i missed last week :(
Trini is extra guard vs dredge. Not sure if it works that way thou.
Thrashing Wumpus is the biggest bomb ever. (Love the card, but I am being facetious - Google it)
It's just sad that the 2 other sets after Masques are so terrible. But I bet that Rishidan port will be worth some money. If I'm right though the second set had Blastoderm? I don't remember too well. It was one of the last blocks I played.
I want them to bring back Invasion so I can get some Undermine's or Absorbes.
Glad you like it! A couple of extra notes on the deck:
This article was submitted before the most recent update. As many of you know by now, Commander games have been changed such that you can have up to 6 players. I obviously didn't have a chance to play with more than 4, and obviously if you just throw Braids out there with 5 other opponents you have a much smaller chance of having her stick around for your next turn. Obviously you can try to be the "fun guy" who is helping other people out, but most of the time it's probably better to sit back and be non-threatening. The deck is much more likely to do well in a 4 person game.
Of course, you could try and make it a stronger mono-Blue version, adding stuff like SDT, Future Sight, Mind Slaver, Jace's etc., but that just paints a bigger target on your head.
This is what I was looking for. Now I can build a mono blue deck without being a total d**k...(I have been thinking about Vendilion Clique a lot, but don't want to get run out of games)
The mana pools are emptied after each step, so no. It would go away at end of Begin Combat. This was a trick years ago when people would float mana from their upkeep to their draw step, and use it if they drew an instant.
At this point there is no way around that bug. Other than to topdeck a Mana Crypt eventually :-)
Enjoyed watching the games, though I agree with Montolio.
Glad to hear the bug has been confirmed. It's the worst when that happens. If you had a stop on the begin attack, could you have activated the mana there before declaring the attackers? Perhaps that gets around the bug?
Innocent blood and really just edicts in general are how you beat poison. Edicts are also better vs UR Cloudpost because they take care of crusher... Also geth's verdict, hitting them for 1, can really make a large difference on the game.
To beat poison, from what I've gathered. You just need to make the game go as long as possible to where your crypt rats are dealing damage and corrupting for 8 or something along those lines.
I cut grasp along time ago because targeted removal isn't very good anymore. With white weenie having the 1/1, give protection guy and having obsidian acolyte after board. The targeted removal just becomes crap.
The acolyte is the reason I added serrated arrows to my sideboard. Its how you beat White weenie. Also as DJ said, you land it vs poison and you pretty much just win from there.
I'm not saying its the best strategy to cut grasp and disfigure. But it hasn't let me down and I've been doing this for a very long time and have a very good record with MBC because of it.
G1, when you Compulsive ~7 min, I'd have probably shipped the Island to the GY, saved Flame Slash for his dude, and started burning him with Bolt on EOT, Firebolts on your turn, etc. He's about 3 turns from death that way vs keeping an island you didn't need really.
Reviewing your list and mine, I think mine will eat up combo and aggro decks more while yours will do better against all types of control and midrange.

I said the same after the cast - so I agree %100. Next week's will be better ;)

Send it to me too - sounds fun
I mean for people reading if they didn't know what the word "facetious" meant. Haha. Not to you.

I don't much care about other people's opinions on the card, it is a personal favorite. And imho it IS a bomb. (Why would I need to google it????)

+ rebels, Bribery, Thrashing Wumpus, the mongers, and a ton of other fun cards.
That game with Vish was me. Yeah the lock was pretty complete and I think everyone was a little exhausted.
Hey Kuma, keep them rolling :)

You rock, sir.
wasteland ...it's not even close
elves. how original. i do give props to the elves bolas deck. that is original.
I agree, those also. Though Serrated arrows take's care of flagbearer nicely.
First Mythic: Geist of Saint blah. Tons of removal, and a lot of good blue and white and a ton of great red.
Oh and Masques is coming back. RISHIDAN PORT'S FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!
So comes the inevitable conversation.... Which of these three is the best:
1) Wasteland
2) Rishidan Port
3) Dust Bowl.
I think Flagbearers and Guardian of the Guildpact in WW are another good reason to run Edicts
