"arcbounddaylabor's Boros Landfall (I love that deck, especially when it's not too overpowered)"
Are you implying that the deck was overpowered at some point?
I wouldn't ever say that the deck was overpowered, overrepresented by bad players sure, but the deck it self is just a deck it even plays really fair.
Every card it plays to the board isn't a cantrip as such it's draw dependant deck, the card advantage it's able to play is limited to squadron hawk, staggershock, deck thinning, and selective card advantage.
It does not invalidate strategies directly, it preys on any deck that is unprepared or a deck that is prone to stumble.
Wow...I've felt bad about this all week since I heard and his family is in my prayers. But it just now really hit me. I loaded up PureMtgo ready to read State of the Program...then I was like, oh...yeah...
RIP Erik, you made mtgo and the lives of those who knew that much brighter
It would rather you DID break it down so that I could improve. I have no illusions that I am going to make everyone else's game better. I do this to learn. At no point do I ask anyone to take my advice. I actually try to steer clear of advice all together.
Carrion Call is way too weak for the maindeck. Metallic Mastery is also best left for the SB unless you see artifacts worth stealing. I would've played a Dino and a Daredevil in those slots.
And Tangle Angler is good, but Sylvok Replica is the pick over it there, IMO.
The core-sets though have been improving with quality lately though. On a mythic level card i think they could put a mindslaver in the set. Sorin isn't too crazy at all personally. these coresets are completely different than the editions we grew up with lol.
And they have shown new artwork for Frost, Inferno, and Grave titan...so who knows?
A teriffic eulogy for a teriffic person.
I only knew Hammy from the articles, posting on boards with him, and taking part in an unofficial league he set up and of course talking in the client.
But he was one of the best people I had ever talked to in the game.
Even tho I never met him in person, I feel as tho I have lost a friend, and online community is poorer for this loss.
My deepest consolation to his family, especially his son-I hope someone tells him as he grows up how incredible his father was, and how much he affected so many people that he never met face-to-face.
You are correct. The titans have been confirmed for D12, not M12, and the 5 'walkers in M12 are the ones that you listed, but we don't know if they are reprints or not.
Yes, it was harsh, but unfortunately I have to agree with TRG. We can certainly break down the critiques for you so that you can improve, but some of the mistakes are so basic that you might want to heed his suggestion.
Haven't we got a picture showing Garruk, Sorin, Jace, Gideon and Chandra for M12? Obviously we don't know which versions of each we're getting (or whether new versions - I agree that Gideon 1.0 is not core set material, and Sorin certainly isn't!). I think people forget that Sorin's ultimate is mindslaver, which doesn't seem like core-set?
I thought we just had confirmation that Titans were the promos for D12, do we definitely know they're in M12?
Triple-destiny was my favorite limited format in a very long time! Highly fun.
Masticore is problematic, but one rare bomb doesn't ruin it for me. As for enchantment removal, look again, there's tons of it. And as for artifact removal, you really don't need any outside of dealing with that one rare card.
The people at WotC know its banned. They chose not to code it as such immediately. Perhaps they are working on a code to ban it as a general but not as a card in the deck. Or maybe they just want people to have fun with it for a few days. I mean its a casual format, so I dont see the big deal if people play it until it is fixed. Unless you enforce the mana symbol rule at the same time as far as Signets and bouncelands go.
I wish I had the Mortarpod too by the time this was all over. I had such a strange feeling when I took the card. I had just listened to a Limited Resources show where they discussed taking Burn the Impure over Hellkite Igniter, and I had an eerie feeling that I was up against another listener of the show. When I heard their discussion, I disagreed, and I felt like I was taking the pick as if to say, "I'll show you."
@ Two Hands: I wasn't taking Steel Sabotage alone as a signal, but yet the amount of blue playables that I was seeing overall. And, I wouldn't call the card barely playable at all. In this set, its thought of as the bast blue common. Is blue the weakest color still? Maybe, but it did get better with MBS. I've been happy to play blue lately.
The biggest problem with your 8-3 draft, other than the questionable white picks, is that you aren't drafting to compliment your bombs. You start off with double corrupted conscience, meaning you should immediately start drafting a U/x control deck. This makes red the absolute worst color to get into, because red has no defensive creatures, and with two control magics you should try to go long, playing the tempo game seems bad.
U/B is decent but very soft vs artifacts, U/G can traditionally lack creature removal, but it can be fixed, and U/W is the more traditional control archetype. U/G also lets you more easily splash a third color for creature or artifact removal. You want to value creature removal higher because sylvok replica is generally not taken over good infect creatures and therefore easy to get 3-4th pick.
Basically, you want to take cards like myr sire, occulus, and spire serpent higher than you normally would. Your sideboard cards, the two serpents, are exactly what you want to be playing building towards maindeck. Scrappy is just insane in thess decks, since he's a big beefy body that is essentially unblockable. The only creatures that are good against him are conveniently also great control magic targets.
Why is Nin a goth-looking depraved torturer? It doesn't feel too much like a UR thing to me.
The Archangel seems like a Timmy card that even the most hardcore Timmy would just play once and then put back in his collection of "hot chicks who looked way better from afar". :)
The wording is also pretty vague. Would I get a war/peace emblem (now, that's cheesy) or something, or should everyone just remember what my choice was?
I really wanted to hear you guys talk about Scabs's deck. If I had been paired with him in the last round, I would have split so that he placed. Apparently he was able to do it without any help. I agree it's a pile, but I attribute his win to surprise and wtf factor. How do you know which spells to counter when none of them make sense? I'm not familiar with him as a player, but his knowledge of the metagame might have been a facor as well. If he knew which of your spells to hit with his Logic Knot, but you had no idea which of his to Force, that could be enough advantage to win. Maybe? Or just dumb luck... who knows?? You should get him on to talk about his deck!
Nin is the new red/blue legend I show at the end of the article that is going to be available in the new Commander product. I like that she is getting some discussion and there are differing opinions about just how good she is. That signifies a well designed card to me.
I could have sworn Metalworker was unbanned recently, but I guess I'm wrong. I was probably thinking of Legacy. And I assumed that since Necro wasn't banned, Bargain wasn't either. Obviously that was incorrect. Sorry for those mistakes guys.
Oh yeah, as for Rofellos, lots of people don't play Magic with pants, so they rely on the online rules manager to enforce playability. So don't be to harsh on these guys using him as a commander. Of course, I'm sure you will find the spike who just wants to blow people out every once in a while.
Here are the numbers of the last many events from a quick check of the event thread, 16, 17, 17, 23, 22, 14, 15 (these last 2 low numbers I think happened during daylight's savings where there are time discrepancies between nations), 23 but hey if the only formats that matter to you are draft and standard I guess there might not be enough content out there for you already for numbers to matter.
Another quality update; this series gets even more useful by the mid-season. Thanks for the shout-out, too, but Sanctified (who won with WW earlier) should be credited with really advancing discussion on single-colored strategies. Keep up the good work!
My clanmates and I were discussing Scabs' deck and we noticed it had a worse win percentage than decks that didn't money. It also placed in Legacy events. o.O
Rofellos has not been coded in as a banned general.
For that matter, I don't know if Yawgmoth's Bargain or Metal Worker have been coded either, but both of them are banned as well.

There's a tread on the official forums about this issue:
http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75846/27281457/Rofellos_in_C...
Basically they will not be banned during the release period of UD, but then they will be banned as soon as possible.
