Heyo, this card would almost assuredly never be printed in black. Black has never(?) been able to cheat on costs/play stuff for free without using the graveyard/life as a resource and has very little to no interaction with the top of its library.
No card draw=black. Pay 3 life to do : this=black. Play top card if permanent for free is green for creatures, blue in general. Red also has access to this for sorceries/instants, but "you may play" would likely change to "play if able".
U/B or artifact is the appropriate color for this card if you intend to keep the current abilities. But frankly, they are clunky and it probably just needs a complete overhaul.
R1:G1 8:25 Opp at 2 with 2 blockers, you have 4 1/1's. 9:40 Opp at 2 with 2 blockers, you have 4 1/1's.
Playing land you can't possibly need immediately after drawing it is just terrible. Why give your opponent more information? At least wait until after combat.
You play extremely conservatively with perilous myr and necropouncer/just getting in there multiple times. This is highlighted in R1/2. I'm not even going to mess with your other possible errors in judgement.
Your opponents make an insane amount of on board misplays.
I guess I just don't see what makes this draft particularly relevant.
I have to say that I have really liked the decks that you have made these past 2 weeks. I haven't really played much Standard recently, but seeing these decks makes me want to put them together and try them out. Good stuff.
Videos look pretty slick. Sound isnt that big a deal for me. The notes are nice, a lot of typos, but a good touch.
Overall a big improvement on the last draft you posted.
p1p3 melira is an odd pick. Its just not that strong a card, better in sb. Suture priest is the easy call there, its on color, and gets you to late game for cenobite.
p1p5 the souleater is another odd pick. Its off color, and not even that great in blue. The talisman gets you to cenobite, accelerates you and gains you life.
p1p7 the exarch is amazing in fast aggro decks, not so much in decks planning to play 7 drops. Forced worship is not too great, but still probably the pick.
p2p5 Dross ripper sucks, even when playing black. At that point you have one black card that isnt worth splashing, and multiple green cards/blue cards. Copper carapace or mirran mettle wouldve been the pick
Good call on going for the anatomists, well worth splashing for and blue is usually open anyways.
No description of what the deck does or how it attacks the format, and no audio on any of the games (I'm not getting anything at least)? This is pretty inaccessible to format newbs (like, say, me) and that really shouldn't be the case when you are featuring one of the relatively few "budget"(ish) legacy archetypes!
Jacerator was edged out at least partly by Fish. Basically Jacerator is an Oath-style control deck that doesn't run Oath and instead relies heavily on controlling until time vault can be brought online. Jace's +2 is a backup plan.
Unfortunately for Jacerator, Fish hates heavily on artifacts and when a large portion of the strat involves finding and activating time vault, it is a lot like Indiana Jones and his pistol against the swordsman in the plaza in Raiders of the Lost Ark - a lot of flashiness and cards, only to be blown up by a single artifact hate spell. Jace isn't much better than vault here, as Jace simply dies to attacking, and the -1 to bounce a creature doesn't matter much when there are 2-3 critters in play.
P1P4: "Not happy to have such a high curve so far!"
P1P5: *Takes mediocre Souleater over PRISTINE TALISMAN to accelerate/buy time*
Taking Exarch over Forced Worship, in a deck that wants nothing else (to that point) but to get to the late game, doesn't seem correct either. Any particular reason for that?
Past that - fun draft, some awkward SOM opens for sure. I think you should have staked claim to either U or G earlier, but it worked out fine, and shows how NMS really rewards staying open.
Also rising is Koth, Consecrated Sphinx, and Tezzeret. Some the increase could be attributed to the block results but Koth has defineitly gone up since the bannings.
Heh I so totally do it other way :). First is the idea - usually a mechanic or just a concept like "I like to toss my goblins at enemy". Then is the art, usually changing the idea to fit into the specific art. Third is research as you want to know how the card works in enviroment. Than the colour, rarity and cost are naturaly made from the card flavour/card text concept. As for the rarity I usually use a rule of thumb that complicated cards are meant to be rare. If the card has more then 2 non-keyword abilities it's rare. Mythic is for cool-art concepts and legendary guys. When I make an uncommon/common I always try to think how would it work in draft in sets I drafted (mostly Saga/M10-12 and some randoms).
It was quite a good article for the begginer card maker. It's really nice that you promote the CCC contest as the atendance is pretty low (I managed to take 1st and 3rd place, mainly because of 7-8 players competing and the best 3 cardmakers are usally a judge).
Yeah that's why I mentioned Eldrazi Green loving this card. I can see pairing this up with anything that gives all your creatures haste and throwing giant creatures at my opponent. Especially ones that get shuffled back into my deck. I hope this inspires more people. I do see that this is one of my least read articles I've ever written, so maybe not so popular. lol But I've always wanted to express how I go about making a card. But at least you two guys liked it. Thank you for the kind comments.
I can't get it to play in full screen. It will play the audio but no picture. This happens to me sometimes with youtube videos. Anyone know how to fix this?
The mic didn't sound great, but it wasn't something I would normally complain about. I thought the misclick actually turned out to be a nice touch. I mean obviously he could have just started recording a new draft since it happened early on, but leaving it in made the whole thing that much more accessible. Yeah it sucks when it happens, but it does happen, and exposing mistakes helps make them less likely to be repeated, and perhaps it will make viewers that much more aware of their pointing and their clicking down the road. I didn't see any other Ogre Menials after the blunder that he passed...maybe I just missed it. With all that being said, I wasn't a big fan of the draft. No knock against you though. I just hate reading/watching most draft articles/videos anyway.
- I actually record in a cave. :(
- I don't have infinite funds and time to spend drafting while recording. I wanted to throw a recording of a draft up, and I only had about a draft's worth of time in the recording cave. I would not have time to finish that draft (unrecorded), then pick another one just to make up for a misclick. I would if I could, but I couldn't. ...Seriously.
- Ogre Menial is unimpressive, and I did not feel super confident about going WR infect. I should have articulated this in the video, but I'm still new and don't say everything I'm thinking about. I'll try a bit more in the future.
Im still in pack one, but here are a few notes
- first, your mic is terrible. it's so hard to understand you... sounds like a hollow cave
- then you missclick on pick 2, and instead of recording a new draft you just keep on doing... seriously?
- trying wr infect is a big risk - and then you DO NOT pick the ogre menial? what the hell?
so, my concern is that this draft looks extremely messy in any possible way. change that!
Hehe yea kids are tough! Sadly I have to make some sacrifices if I still want to record - as the wife acts like she is sacrificing a lot letting me record the podcast in peace :D
Appreciate the feedback tho man, let me know how it goes if you try the format out!
Nice one, made me want to try the format, but plz stop running your mouse pointer over new card every 2 seconds. It makes me feel dizzy after drinking few beers. And bout the children - you should make some metal cages in your basement and keep them there why u're recording (just joking, it's not that bad).

Dude, you've got to stop doing things like:
P1P4: "Not happy to have such a high curve so far!"
P1P5: *Takes mediocre Souleater over PRISTINE TALISMAN to accelerate/buy time*
Taking Exarch over Forced Worship, in a deck that wants nothing else (to that point) but to get to the late game, doesn't seem correct either. Any particular reason for that?

"(If you know how to get YouTube to let you post videos longer than 15 minutes, let me know)"
It just gets enabled on your account after you've used it for some unknown amount of time.
Also rising is Koth, Consecrated Sphinx, and Tezzeret. Some the increase could be attributed to the block results but Koth has defineitly gone up since the bannings.
Gread set of videos. I know this is your favorite deck so it is good to see you do well with it while you can.
What do you think the future for UW control is. Do we go back to Cawgo with Beleran, or is it a combination fo that with the UW Scars block deck?
I didn't know about the contest, I'm sure I'm gonna give it a try! :)

Dunkle stop eating burgers!! Red meat is murder! etc...or whatever...:)
...I get that ALWAYS with youtube :-( Reduce the black full screen and then max. it again, that works for me!

I suspect she feels that way too. Families are tough business.
I'll try something new with the mic next time.
And is there anything in particular with regards to the draft you think I should work on? Or is it just a personal thing that I can't change?
The mic didn't sound great, but it wasn't something I would normally complain about. I thought the misclick actually turned out to be a nice touch.
