Good show i wondered what would be given and i am impressed. that was very noble of you to commit to such a thing. i woulda picked sol ring cuz i play on 3 accounts and one has no sol ring. dont ask me y i have 3 accounts, it would take me to long to explain but it's justified. anyway, irl i own 2 sol rings and they are in two dex. that is the #1 best thing about digital isn't it?

heh I was wondering how a mana vault could target your druid, was scratching my head on that one lol.

  • Rick's Picks: Building a Block   13 years 28 weeks ago

Good article Rick, as far as the duel lands go, it wont happen. Maybe creatures will provide the mana for colors that get along. I like the way they did the lands though, it gives depth to the personality of decks. I like RU like you like WU so we can agree to disagree on that. But with the dual in SOM still you wont see dual in STD until thats gone. I personally think ISD is one of the most color fair sets made in a long time because of the way they did the land and the cards. I do like the favor showed to tokens in this set too. Ur dek seems fun but I dont have 4 Garruks though. I have had some success in tourny room with other token experiments, after getting 4th in a PE sealed using stitched apprentice using him as a staple I cant help but trying to find him a con home. Anyway I've babbled enough, my wife wants me to say hello, she watches me watch ur ISD drafts, I never miss one by the way. Ur fan BOBBAKAKE.

Being the noob on the block, I have to say... It feels really good playing broken cards again

anyway, that Shops affinity deck is clutch. I have seen a lot of people packing Kataki/Energy Flux hate in the SB for it, but I found something of a Tempo play which can turn the tide for the right deck...

    A well timed Hurkyl's Recall = hosery.

thanks for chatting with me while the event I attempted didn't fire. I am going to get in one (or 2) hopefully before the celebration is over...

    Good Work.

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

yaY honestly i like that column and honestly im proud of being rewarded for that thx

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

The prizes are a great way to maybe generate a bit more reader interest. You should try and hide your question within the text somewhere to get people to read it all. Would be kinda fun that way

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

I hate winning prizes. For other people. I want to win prizes for myself. :/

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

haha. after reviewing the list and noticing that 'hu' is right next to 'gy', you are correct, sir!

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

allow me to reintroduce myself...my name is ____. That's _ to the __.

Any way. @ Question of the week: who doesn't like winning prizes?

@ Goyf getting the ban hammer- It could happen in Modern. I would not be surprised. It is an awkward card. In the sense that when it is played, it trends to upwards of $100 ea. which is a barrier. At the same time reprint policy allows for a reprint. The problems with a reprint are twofold: 1. He would be too good for standard 2. Duel decks or From the Vault: Mistakes products don't really do much to address supply issues.

While I agree with this logic for bans (he is warping and hard to reprint), there are cards like Path to Exile, which I argue is just as ubiquitous as Goyf, that will never see the scrutiny of ban hammer because it is not a $100 card...

I am sticking with the Sacred Cow argument here, subject to reevaluation. Same with the fetch + shock mana base (which some are calling for to be banned now as well.rofl.).

I actually think Past in Flames will get banned before Goyf. Goyf will be banned before fetch or shock lands, though.

Again, I am willing to be wrong. I don't really care. I like the format after this past ban. Was nerfing Nacatl necessary? Maybe not. Consider this though. 1 unblocked hit from Nacatl with conditions met(no exalted triggers) is 16% of your life. Kird ape is 10%. That is pretty significant.

    So....did I win? I think I am apaulohu.

    I want the Sol Ring.

  • Rogue Play - From Casual Room to FNM, Part VI   13 years 28 weeks ago

Impressive! I already got almost every card for the UR TurboPsychosis basic variant and I already love it. I just had to switch the four Slagstorms with three Blasphemous Acts and a Rolling Temblor to keep the bottom line just a bit short of 28$. Can't wait to test it for real! :)

    Double Post

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

I like the article. I thought it had a lot of relevant information. The funny part about
Legacy is that there are always niche cards showing up that catch you by surprise. The other
day I saw a top 8 decklist sporting Siroccos!

One minor quibble: in this sentence, "...expensive cards all equating to an absorbent amount of money..."
I think you meant "exorbitant" amount of money.

On second thought, this hobby actually does "absorb" a lot of my money. Never mind.

  • Rogue Play - From Casual Room to FNM, Part VI   13 years 28 weeks ago

I've tried Psychosis Crawler at the top of the curve in a Burning Vengeance deck, seems to fit nicely. Desperate Ravings and Think Twice already add a decent amount of damage with Crawler, and Faithless looting will add to it even more.

  • Penguin TV - A maniac, maniac, on the metal floor.   13 years 28 weeks ago

After round 4 when you show the Hermaniac build I ran I also had flusterstorm in hand which was a real champ especially with snapcaster and aether vial and that mana vault it showed him killing the hermit druid with was really a lightning bolt. I also had one divining witch that i sided out since it was only in there to help avoid revoker and I hadn't seen any up to that point.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

These lists bring back memories - good work here, I will be coming back again and again.

  • Freed From The Real #150: Seasonal Milestone   13 years 28 weeks ago

A: As a winner from last week's drawing, I must say heck yeah I like winning prizes. Let's make it 2 in a row.

I look forward to your podcast each week and enjoy your material. Keep them coming. Please and thank you.

Yeah I saw some of your Psychosis Crawler decks in action in the Juff room. Definitely a devastating card with the right deck. Nice builds as per usual. I typically DO have my end step stopped just because I play against a lot of draw go type decks (do nothing unless counter until beginning of op's end step, then cast your game winner.) So that end advice does not apply to me but it is a good thing to know in general.

I wish either Consecrated Sphinx wasn't so expensive or that it wasn't so central to the good versions of this archetype. Budget versions will just suffer in the TP without it. Same to a lesser extent with the Garruk version though I suspect it is not that hard to find replacements for that card.

    As always a wonderful read.

  • Rick's Picks: Building a Block   13 years 28 weeks ago

Nice block article! I like the wishlist, thought admittedly I don't hate the idea of some permanent bouncing. Also, UW Humans is starting to take off, though it's not control by any stretch...

I know I joked about it last week, but the more I think about it Vindicate REALLY isn't too overpowered by today's standards. In a WB deck I don't see it hitting lands very often, and by that logic it's strictly worse than Maelstrom Pulse, which wasn't a problem in its day. It would be nice to see the card back, and to have it in Modern for that matter.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

working my way back to a good MTGO collection. As I play more and more Legacy I regret selling my Forces, LEDs, and Tarmos... but thats ok.

I wanted an article like this to kind of "know where to start, what to get" outside of the really obvious cards.

As for some of the real expensive cards. I really want to see a "best of" all the pre-invasion sets. I want them to decide if they are going to put Power online or not. I want them to actually make a real decision about reprinting Force of Will. When you have such a barrier of entry into a format. No one is happy to spend 100 dollars a piece on a card they are required to have.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

Thanks LE and AJ, I def spent more time on this article than I have on my past few articles, but I felt the time was worth it.

    Glad you guys appreciate it.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

Yea I have no idea, I had a heck of a time in the editor with this article for some reason. I saved it like 100 times and never had a problem with the card links......I wonder if I could copy/paste and submit in another article if that would help the card links.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

I respect the work put in here. Well done.

  • Building a Legacy: Collection building from the Ground Up!   13 years 28 weeks ago

+1 to what Paul said. One must definitely bookmark this if he wants to start playing eternal formats (Legacy in particular).

By the way, the cards should have been linked to mtgotraders the way they are written. Odd.
