So it looks like the site just randomly ate part of the article. I am sorry for this and it is an incredibly rare thing to have happen. Unfortunately we do not have a back up to move back to, and I am so sorry that this has happened.
I'm in love with this rant. I know the exacts of what you are describing on both level. Basically I traded old habits for this cardboard and pixel fix. At least my car hasn't been impounded or repossessed because of mtg. Yet.
Vintage is certainly very fun, but I understand the costs are high for most. Many vintage/legacy staples are still very cheap though, for people in your situation I would suggest buying those staples like vamp tutor, Tolarian Academy, time vault, sphere of resistance, ancient tomb, etc... at very reduced prices. Maybe take a chance and buy some cards you think will go up in value like Clever Impersonator or Jeskai Ascendancy. In time hopefully you will get all the needed cards by buying low and selling high to assemble your vintage deck of choice. The other alternative which is a good one is build dredge, yes it is not the most fun to play but it is effective. It gets you in the vintage scene to learn and compete and in many cases win. While not as fun you will like it more than you think, the dredge deck has high and lows though so prepare for them (some matches you get hated out). But it will let you gain valuable experience and also win some money back. I also think the cards in dredge could go up in the future. Best of luck!
Nice work! it certainly was a crazy year. Vintage masters being announced was one of the reasons I wanted to start a mtgo account again. I haven't been able to afford any power, but it sure is cool.
I have Naya, White weenie, and a Mono black infect deck. Yea that match against you was rough. 2 mulls in games 2 and 3 are not a great way of finishing the match ha. Doing a video series on modern matches would be cool.
I miss playing in Tribal but I just can't find the time since it starts at 12 or 1 am here in the Philippines. With the baby and all. I have to be really alert when she wakes up.
A friendly reminder that according to Gatherling.com, Kuma is running Modern Times on New Year's Day! Thanks to the holiday, I wonder if we can make this the largest turn out the event has ever had?
To be fair, if I had to buy everything alone, I wouldn't be playing Vintage right now (I guess now it's cheaper than when I bought with a friend so maybe). Now that I know how much fun I've been having, I know it would be worth to buy everything alone at the highest peak. But I already had the tix for it in my account, for some people they have to spend actual money so it's harder.
If you can, slowly save some money on other things and eventually get into Vintage because it's worth it.
Dredge sometimes feels unfair but with Oath, there are actually some interesting games against it.
I find vintage (and legacy) really interesting, and I've always wanted to play. Outside of some casual magic I played with a few beat up pieces of power I once owned, I never got to play magic this way.
I still look at deck lists from eternal formats, trying to think of a way that I could buy in and start playing.
I know dredge is cheap, but I don't think I would like playing the deck. I certainly didn't enjoy playing against it.

I don't know. I edited all that I had and figured that this would be a two parter because of how it ended.
Of course sometimes the site just eats things. :/
I am terribly sorry for this though, I'll look in to things some more.
Where is the rest of my article???

I know Joe, definitely not fun. I was also gonna talk to you about doing some modern VS videos as well. Let me know if you would be up for that.

I hate scrubbing out with mana screw round one in overdrive, because then I have to wait a week to play again.

What a wonderful summary of 2014! I loved reading every word.

I recorded the game we played on monday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuB7THwtipE#t=1m12s
If you want we can do a video together and record both players point of view. I only own Mono U Tron and Jeskai Ascendancy though.

No problem! Thanks for the comment!
That was fun to watch, thank you.
Thanks for all the hard work you put in every week. It's so helpful to players like me!
It's ok, just sad that the Thundercat's themesong could not be enjoyed by all :) No worries glitches happen.
I also do not know how it got chopped. When I look at it on my side I see a video and an introduction :/
Sounds good I am always up for a game
I recognize that deck ad the one you beat me with the other day :)
Let's play magic someday soon.
I want to apologize, I have no idea how the first part of my article got chopped. Hope you all enjoy what you can see.
i just finished a modern rug delver deck, minus one tarmogoyf and using other fetches like misty over tarns, so i am getting somewhere...

I agree that Karn Liberated will be re-printed. Sell him now before he plummets in price!!
