A while back I played in a paper tourney and had a round where I just could not draw land at all.
After the match some guy goes, "You didn't shuffle your deck good." Huh? "If you had shuffled your deck good you would have drawn more lands."
I explained that is not how randomization works. It's not like the more you shuffle the better your draws are. I shuffle a lot. If tons of shuffling guarantee wins I'd be in the hall of fame by now.
With randomization there is always the possibility that you will be land screwed, land flooded, land starved, or just draw perfectly the whole game. The whole point of randomization is so that you can not predict what's coming up on top of your library. Maybe it's what you need and maybe it's not.
I played a guy who would play his cards unsleeved with the lands turned one way and the non-land cards turned the other. He was able to look at the top of his library and know if it was a land or not. I pointed out that this is considered not-quite-legal and he didn't believe me. I had to call a judge on him.
I can't remember the last paper tourney I was in where I did not have to mulligan (because doing otherwise would be stupid.) I think the actual answer to when was the last time I had a great draw in a tourney, would be "never".
I swear I get mana screwed playing paper way more than magic online.
I've had weird stuff happen on Mtgo, like someone snagging my emrakul with a thoughtseize and then drawing it next turn. Highly unlikely, but very possible with a random shuffler.
I don't know if they did because I never planned on playing them but many times I have to reset the filters and choose filters again to find the events I want. Sometimes because the filters aren't working, other times because some or all events are not showing. Resetting the filters fixes both problems.
It's sad that deep analysis above applies to only one small format with a small community, this article deserves much more attention! Plenty of useful explanations backed up by Wizard's statements, very accurate and straight to the point. A must read for every Standard Pauper player.
I'm tempted to try an old Ari lax list I found as well. He ran Domri Rade in his version. Also ran a tarmogoyf in the main deck. That's going to be hard to obtain.
Other than inserting tags yourself and sizing them accordingly? Not so much. However doing that isn't too hard. You can insert images with the RTE via the portrait icon and it has a width and height box in the same area as the url text box.
I appreciate your comment, but I have to respectfully disagree with the notion that I shouldn't have gone Temur. I think that Savage Knuckleblade is a much better card than Arc Lightning P1P1 even if it is a more committing card in terms of colors. P1P2, I can see not taking a Temur Charm, but I don't think I'd take Take Up Arms over it if I already have a Knuckleblade. Take Up Arms is a card that is good in certain situations and mediocre in others. If you're in the Warrior deck then it's a very good card, but I'd rather have a flexible card in Temur Charm (good early and late) or take a solid creature in Longshot Squard or Glacial Stalker. From that point forward in Pack 1, you're just taking less powerful cards over better cards. Sage-Eye Harrier over Mystic of the Hidden Way/Longshot Squad? Mystic is arguably the best blue common and Harrier barely makes my white decks. If nothing else, the triland coming back to us in the 2nd half of Pack 1 is a clear signal that some combination of UGB is open (more than likely UG). White was not open at all, there was never any point while I was drafting that I wished I was white, in fact, all I wanted was to see more UG/Temur cards!
P2P1: Feat of Resistance.
P2P2: Butcher of the Horde. Nice.
P2P3: Rush of Battle.
P2P4: Rush of Battle.
P2P5: Ponyback Brigade.
P2P6: Sultai Scavenger.
P2P7: Barrage of Boulders.
P2P8: Molting Snakeskin.
P2P9: Dragon Throne of Tarkir. Very good in a tokens/rush of battle deck.
P2P10: Ainok Tracker.
P2P11: Defiant Strike (Rush of Battle taken earlier)
P2P12: Mardu Blazebringer. Underrated; a nice Warrior.
P2P13: Cranial Archive.
P2P14: Sultai Banner.
P3P1: End Hostilities. Sweet. Take it for value anyways; it's worth over a ticket.
P3P2: Nomad Outpost.
P3P3: Tormenting Voice.
P3P4: Jeskai Student.
P3P5: Alabaster Kirin.
P3P6: Bring Low.
P3P7: Swift Kick.
P3P8: Salt Road Patrol.
P3P9: Tormenting Voice. x2, awesome.
P3P10: Defiant Strike.
P3P11: Weave Fate.
P3P12: Heart-Piercer Bow. Good SB card.
P3P13: Tormenting Voice. 3, lol.
P3P14: Naturalize.
You should never have gone Temur. You got too attached to the Knuckleblade and Temur Charm and never looked back when White was wide open and you opened a Butcher. Even at the End Hostilities, you should have switched into White. It does literally say "I when a game when I cast this." This could have been a sick RW aggro deck splashing Raiders' Spoils and Butcher of the Horde.
Cheers Paul its good to be back.
Hey Flips great to see you back and writing again. Hope your holidays are awesome. :D

Yeah, there are far too many people out there who confuse random distribution with even distribution.
I can't remember the last paper tourney I was in where I did not have to mulligan (because doing otherwise would be stupid.) I think the actual answer to when was the last time I had a great draw in a tourney, would be "never".
A lot of people seem to think that a random shuffle means that they'll get an evenly mixed deck of cards . That isn't true at all.
I swear I get mana screwed playing paper way more than magic online.

They actually start on the 17th!

Thanks Tuga I'll give that a shot! :)

Did the Mirage drafts really start on the 10th?! I can't find them anywhere. :(
Sage wisdom in the nuggets -- thanks!

I also noticed that oblivion stone's price has dropped like a ....... well you can figure that out.

that last game was a close one. I can't wait until next week.
Thanks man. I'm still pretty new to the editing process. I want to start including videos too.
Next week, I have something really cool planned.

Is there a way to make card images in a size between thumbnail and full size?

Joe your numbers sided in and out are practically invisible because they are so small.turns out I'm blind and those were oddly spaced commas.P1P1: Arc Lightning.
P1P2: Take Up Arms.
P1P3: Mardu Hordechief.
P1P4: Raiders' Spoils. (insane card)
P1P5: Sage-Eye Harrier
P1P6: Jeskai Windscout

Agreed, we need zendikar fetches and hierarch.
I have to agree with Paul - please stop ranting. Or, at the very least, keep it to less than half the program.
FWIW - Habro's charitable contributions were about $14.5 million in 2013.
What I want from MM15: Zendikar Fetches, Mox Opal, Noble Hierarch and Wasteland as a "mistake."
Less rants, more excitement.
