I use Blueberry Flahback Express. I could probably use higher export settings but I figure as long as you can read the cards it's fine. If you have any suggestions I'm up for trying.
Awesome job with the article. I would definitely recommend pierakor to anybody who is looking for a twitch stream to follow. He does an awesome job of explaining his lines and is very knowledgeable of his decks.
Since I wrote this article I played another PCT and finished 2nd after losing to Mystical Teachings control piloted by obZen. You can find the VOD on my youtube, there are some new matchups in there (MBC, WW and the Teachings control). I am currently 31-13 with the deck and thinking about playing a daily or two.
While your analysis of Genesis Hydra explains why the pros might not be playing it, it is not a garbage card either. The problem is the deck it goes in, (a 5 color, permanent heavy deck) is tough as a sell in an Aggro rich environment. Even the threat of Jeskai Tokens makes it a tough sell because Banishing Light doesn't do enough as one of your permanent removal spells to be a genuine threat against that deck and the other possibilities are even worse. (If RTR was still around that would be a different story because detention sphere is a bit better since it takes out tokens of a kind.)
I'd say the real problem with Hydra is the lack of correct support cards rather than it being stinko because of it's x cost. (Though that means it doesn't play well with Chord or See. But note that comparing chord and or see to hydra is just wrong. Two different things as is the Bard.) That said, Genesis Hydra + constellation stuff (chromanticore included)+ enchantment removal + judicious amounts of non permanent control cards + planeswalkers (this is important really) makes for a fun and interesting 5 color deck that can just outright steal games and can give most decks problems (given some small amount of tuning and awareness of how it plays vs the field.)
If I don't respond to chat I'm probably recording but will definitely get back to you. I'm sticking mostly to standard until after the tournament but I do have an updated Pod deck for modern so if anyone needs to test against Pod hit me up.
Lol. Sorry. Was a rough week. Lost a family member. didn't have time to edit like I usually do. Maybe one of our esteemed editors can unlock the article for correction. But the idea behind the argument is still valid. As usual, I need to RTFC.
thanks!
I was thinking about networking to test decks. it's a better use of time than playing against random bad decks with angry pilots, scooping at the first sight of a scalding tarn or whatever.
I am pretty enamored with legacy at the moment, I managed to make a legacy deck, it wasn't easy, but it'll be nice to have another format to write about.
I actually buddied you, Joe and Christopher a few days ago. :)
Shoot me a message if you want to test Modern decks. I have a variety of the proven decks and lots of brews to play. I don't mind playing out matches against off the wall decks at all. (Sometimes I have to go deal with a crying baby, but I try to give a heads up first.)
I did try that link and still had an issue. Though I am not sure why because it seems everyone else can figure it out easily enough. I should have been more clear with my intro and you are right about some of the plays. Sadly I noticed them after the recording which I find happens often. (after a game is over I think more about why I played a certain way etc.) Glad you are excited for next weeks article I am as well ha. As I said it will be on standard but for the next week I will be back to modern trying out another rogue deck/brew. Any time you see me online shoot me a message would love to test out any format.
It gets you through pretty well. (I used it early on when I dabbled in videos.)
Kuma and Leviathan (and probably a host of others) know how to put the art capture at the beginning of the video. It's not necessary, but it does look great. Nice for hi-lighting cards like Nacatl, or heck, throw a funny twist on the Thundercats logo up. ;) If you ask around they can probably share how to do it.
Something other writers have been critiqued for in past video articles was not including the decklist of the deck that is actually in the videos. I had no idea which deck you were talking about, the intro was vague, or if wanted to bother to click on the links to find out. I was hoping it was the Modern take on Naya Blitz you had mentioned previously, so I was a little bummed out.
Deck/Game commentary - While Profane Command was a surprise, that could have been Abrupt Decay or Path and you still would have lost that game. That Junk deck is a pretty rough match up for you; you're closer to Mid-Range Zoo than Small Aggro-Zoo and Junk will quickly out Midrange you. With that in mind, you probably should have mulligan-ed into some more aggressive hands, especially G2.
You should have laid down the Nacatl instead of Pathing the Goyf right away; You needed to maintain the role of aggressor, had the life to take a hit or two, and should have noticed that the opponent was short the land to drop Rhinos (plus I'm pretty sure that particular player runs Sorin, Solemn Visitor too).
Good point Joe, just rough that what I decided to spend tix on were terrible games ha. I will continuing to work on modern in both paper and MTGO finding what I really want to play.
I brought my RUG Delver deck into the modern 2-mans the other day, immediately faced a mono red kiln-fiend deck, then an enchantment control deck. I lost both of those, but as soon as I faced a UWR control, I won pretty easily.
You can't be good against every deck, or the DCI would start bannning some cards in your deck. You're deck seems like it does good in the important match ups, and that's way more advantageous than being good at random rogue home brews.

I'll subscribe to your channel.
I've been meaning to ask you some questions about making videos. I've gotten some work done on my own.
Nice job on the article man. I'm getting into legacy and pauper as of late. I have delver in every format :)

Sorry to hear the bad news. What recording software do you use?
Only burn for now but slowly working on elves as well
sweet! what deck do you have? I just took my modern Delver deck and made a few slightly different legacy versions of it.

If you spend eight mana on Genesis Hydra, it will be a 6/6 and let you check the top six for a six drop or less.
I have one legacy deck built on MTGO and working on another. I have a ton of experience in paper though
thanks!

Thanks always glad I can provide some entertainment :)

Videos and article - I figure Josh is going to hit some of this already, but...
Here is the link to the post on these forums that talks about embedding videos:

That's what practice games are for. :)
I'll try to watch Match 2 when I get a chance.
Looking forward to next week's article!

They are public now. As I told you Pierakor I really am technology illiterate haha

You've set your youtube videos to private. Once you change them to public the links should work though.
