I am sorry Jake if I don't have commentary to my vids. I actually tried it in the beginning on the first casual plays article and I just suck at commentary. In the end of Rd 2 i would have attack and I think my opponent have to block with his rhino. The chances are he has no answer for Silumgar since the guy has hexproof and it would just make his agony long if he did not concede. (Or maybe he has something better to do and have given me my first win in a daily.lol)Tnx for the comment.
They say Ojutai exemplars is a broken card i just don't know why. Now that you mentioned the untap ability of Jeskai Ascendency i am starting to think that someone out there is probably trying to break the Standard Metagame with it. It would be very cool indeed to see your deck.
Not quite. Jace Brainstorm on turn one does just replace itself, but the opponent has to spend a card in Bolt. Jace + card from Brainstorm vs Bolt is, in terms of actual cardboard, 2 vs 1. But the card selection, especially with fetchlands in the format, is usually worth anywhere from an extra half a card to an extra card.
Enjoyed your article. Like you I always think of Living End as a fringe deck that I don't often take that seriously but it can't certainly put up results. A big problem is that some hate cards do really heavily shut you down, such as Leyline of the Void (which might of been what your opponent was mulliganing for in Game 3 of Round 1). Otherwise it does attack from a very different angle which can be hard to handle.
Some things that I think are worth mentioning in your deck tech. Demonic Dread can't be cast without a creature to target, which can be a problem against some decks. Some decks run a Dryad Arbor to be fetched up for that purpose. It's also the reason that Beast Within, though sometimes a janky removal spell, has extra utility as a way of creating a target for Demonic Dread.
Jace Brainstorm is neutral. Each subsequent turn is a +1. Trading with bolt turn one is a 1 for 1, with the upside of card selection, although you will have lost some tempo.
If you ever have any questions about using the editor, Carl, let me know. It took me a while to figure everything out, each one gets a little easier though.
Have you tried any of the RUG decks? It may not be 100% your style, but as a control player I fear Savage Knucklblade, Sarkhan Unbroken, and the Negates/Disdainful Strokes far more than anything that straight G/R can produce.
Glad to see a fresh face! Your article looks good, I didn't know about the deck list generator when I made my first article so things were... a bit tricky, to say the least.
Send me a FB MSG or look for me online tonight. I tend to be on after my son is asleep, and before he wakes up. Coincidentally, that is also why I'm a nodding-off zombie every day around noon.
Unless I take the few tix I have to bolster my collection in order to have more options. lol. That seems to happen a lot when I sign up for a big PRE tourney. And then I later regret it because I fail to resell at the right time to recoup the losses.

I haven't registered yet because I don't know yet if my nephew will be around that Sunday. But I do plan on playing the tourney so far. I would love to practice against you and pick your brain about vintage since I haven't played the format in a while. My deck is RUG Delver so it's tier 1, but I don't want to go in rusty with it. I'll definitely take you up on the offer, Joe!
I used to play quite a bit of casual before Vintage Masters (primarily EDH and 100CS with the extremely rare Prismatic game I could find), but I have not gone into JFF in probably 5 or 6 months. I played a lot of EDH as a stand-in for Vintage because classic was not firing (I never played casual classic/vintage because a large % of the people I played against were extremely unpleasant and complained incessantly about foils and expensive cards even when those cards were being used in a causal context), but now that we have Vintage and there are enough games, I rarely get the itch to play EDH online anymore (though I still play it a lot in paper). I'm not sure how many people were like me, but maybe that is part of the problem.
I think a larger part of the problem is that while MTGO is basically all competitive players have, casuals have much better options nowadays. Both Hex and Hearthstone offer a largely better play experience for a lower cost--I can't blame casual players for flocking to them literally by the millions. This is a major long-term concern for all of us on MTGO because it is the casual players that drive demand for the vast majority of cards (see: paper prices). Without them, the only cards anyone will want are tournament staples and those become more and more expensive. I wish WotC had not completely screwed up the program (I have wished this segveral times over the last 10 years online), but at least they **seem** to see the writing on the wall and have started to hire actual programmers and spend actual money on improving the play experience (things are much better now than they were last summer). I just hope it is not going to be too little too late.

That will probably be addressed with the launch of the new site
What about image size limitations? 640x450 seems a bit... constrained.
The autolinking is supposed to be updated soon.
The autolink ability isn't available on the last few sets yet, you have to do the links manually which is a right pain and takes ages.

So many of the cards you refer to have no link, which makes reading the article difficult.
eg. Collected Company has no link. should be : http://www.mtgotraders.com/store/DTK_Collected_Company.html

Very glad to have you Carl!
Thanks. Glad to be part of the team, and am looking forward to writing regularly.

Keep on writing man.

Was just thinking about inspired decks. Using Ojutai Exemplars to tap your own stuff and Jeskai Ascendency to untap stuff.
Great, now I've got a reason to play other than seeing how fast I can lose each match without power. :)

If anyone wants to test out their vintage deck, please pm Islandswamp on mtgo and we'll give it a go.
Thank you, MTGO Empire, for your generous contribution to this event!
Closing in on $1K!

Done, and done! Thank you, kind sir! Adding to prize pool as:
