    Oh yes, Stag, that's

Oh yes, Stag, that's completely right.

When Balla was in the top 8 he faced down infinite stags. I didn't face any stags in my 3 Jund matches... that I can remember.

After a good bit of laughing

After a good bit of laughing at Jarkeld's expense, I scrolled down to see Chandler and Joven and started snickering heartily merely at the prospect of you roasting them (it was the guy-liner that really did it).

    Good article, dawg

  • Pauper Times #5 - Tortured Existence Control   15 years 13 weeks ago

    I could and perhaps should

I could and perhaps should have just 3x bolted but I figured I could kill without confirming to my opponent that I was running bolt. Worst case scenario involves him removing my board and me firing trip bolt the following turn.

I dont understand, in round 3

I dont understand, in round 3 game 1, you have the triple lightning bolt to just kill him, but instead just pass the turn even though he's tapped out. You won anyway, but why didnt you just kill him just in case?

    Nature's Wrath

Irina Sengir slowed down possibly the finest green sideboard hate against black and blue decks at the time.

This card was featured far too prominently in my early days of Magic.

    fixer

ppl r worried about the mana cost, do u all forget about cloud posts? urzas? its a easy mana fix that makes ten+ mana easy fix, and they are just uncommons, so four cloud posts and 4 of each urzas is 16 high powered manas, sure 16 is heavy if ur gonna run color in it, but color isnt required, and u can cut urzas down to fit in some real mana in and still be ahead of the mana game. another gould fixer is the mythic rare lotus that keeps ur green from bailing on ur mana pool, so pump ur green away intoo him and it just stacks. mana isnt going to be as big of a problem as ppl r making it seem. theres they enchantment that turns all saps into forest and vice versa, i have pulled 10000s of mana with it and x2 seasons and had all the protction i needed to keep it. manas easy on table top, turny decks r the thing to ponder, cuz we just dont know how good the fixer for these is going to be yet.

    Jund in Pauper

You do realize that there isn't currently a viable Jund deck in Pauper?

    ummmm

Even if Daughter of Autumn somehow made it online, she could not be a useful general...her deck could not have any white creatures in it....

    Great series...

    "And speaking of trivia,

"And speaking of trivia, what's the only card in Magic that's got two thumbs and mentions another color's basic land in its name? This card, baby."

You are aware of Flashfires, Boil, etc? Did you mean basic landwalk? Anyway, good article, gotta love the old magic cards I grew up with.

    Pet Peeve on Kasimir #2

So the story goes that Kasimr was once a holy man who renounced his order to take up the sword? I don't buy it, since that hairy wolf dude over there obviously has an AXE!!!!!

    Actually

I actually have reverted back to this version. I'm playing it right now in a 4-Round event on Magic Online. They present two different options you can take, but I really don't know which is best. I wrote that article on Starcity about a week ago, because my editor needed it early due to the Grand Prix in the UK.

They're both different decks and attack the format in slightly different ways.

    Edges = Spells

You need to think of Tectonic Edge as a spell. Edge isn't typically going to sit on your side of the table and produce mana.

As to videos vs text it's a hard balance. Taking the video, editing the video and doing commentary takes a good bit of time. I tried to at least put my conclusions in text format.

    You can use whatever capture

You can use whatever capture software you like - I use camtasia or hypercam

  • Scoop Phase - Black Red Vampires   15 years 13 weeks ago
    Mountain

Like I said in the vids a Mountain would be nice to fetch when you are facing Path to Exile, but naturally drawing the Mountain is rather awkward.

Turn three you want BBB for kicked Gatekeeper and turn 4 is often a BBBB turn: Black Knight + Bloodghast or Black Knight/Bloodghast + Sign in Blood.

I think the number of draws 1 Mountain would smooth out would be far less than the number of draws it would ruin.

The problem is that you dont

The problem is that you dont get an option to use a sideboard in Tribal Classic

  • Scoop Phase - Black Red Vampires   15 years 13 weeks ago
    Lightning Bolt

My reasoning on cutting Terminate over Lightning Bolt is thus:

    1) Lightning Bolt kills Great Stable Stag
    2) Lightning Bolt provides reach
    3) Lightning Bolt costs 1 mana

  • Scoop Phase - Black Red Vampires   15 years 13 weeks ago
I really like the look of

I really like the look of this deck, but I think a basic mountain or two is needed to support the ruinblasters post-board, and for paths.
