i'd be shocked if ajani goldmane got reprinted. He just seems a little out-dated nowadays. Also I think it's too soon for Gideon Jura to be reprinted so elpseth would be the logical choice to me. Also what was the time span between the Jace vs Chandra decks and M10 coming out? I would be shocked if Tezzeret was in M11, but thats only because I am hoping for a Blue/Black version of him in Scars.(Black from the corruption of Nicol Bolas)
Whatever you kick you should try to add Knight of the Reliquary. And Horizon Canopy. Knight is too good and its a mistake not to play him in a GW deck, Canopy is just good with no disadvantage.
I'm a mythbuster, I bust tons of mythics every day :)
Nice read raddy, at the beginning I was like "... american crap..." but actually I had to laugh ( which is hard you know as Im stonecold ;) ). Good job man, but I have to look up some things I didnt got now^^
Im one who doesnt think Elspeth will be in M11, too much going against her starting with the duel decks, why put her in there and then reprint her in M11?
He's copying/pasting my text - the majority of the time from my experience Researcher is much better than Careful Study, of course excepting when they also play out the same (fatty already in hand or directly on top). Whenever you don't have a fatty, Study offers you an extra ~15-20% chance of drawing one compared to a dud (also counting Entombs). Not bad, but I'd rather trust in the other advantages offered by Researcher, for example, Edict and chump blocking effects and Bridge from Below. Researcher hands make up that remote percentage on these far more prevalent situations alone. So, I am glad that you've passed 101, but I'm not sure you're asking all the relevant questions to pass the higher level courses yet.
No I mean seriously, what's the over-under on PW rotation in M11? Tom LaPille's column today didn't suggest anything one way or another. It's not impossible that the core 5 might change a little.
(This is why I like Pauper, it's quite achievable to own the whole metagame. I then encounter the opposite problem perhaps, in that I rarely play the same deck twice.)
Over on ChannelFireball, LSV just put up an article about how important it is to know who you're testing against as well. Feel free to touch on that in your "practicing the right way" point. I myself sort-of shrug it off since I don't regularly hang with PT players.
Nothing shocking about that to me. We have no idea what form of Elspeth or Tezzeret we will get and while I would LOVE to get a cheap copy of either that seems unlikely. More likely is they are new incarnations. We shall have to wait and see the spoilers.
First off, I think this is a great article and I wish someone would do something similar for the block metagame. My comments below though are just for arguments sake:
If you're basing these off just the list of 4-0/3-1 decklists, wouldn't that skew the results to show what decks are actually winning and not what's being played? And more importantly, that those decks are winning because they are better against whatever archetype is actually being played most? In a 16-player daily, you would only see 5 decks out of 16.
Using an extreme example, if 5 people played jund and 11 people played some deck X that jund destroys, and the jund players always end up in the money, you would get hte impression that everyone was playing jund when the opposite is true. I'm not saying the data is bad, but it makes me wonder how I should be using it effectively.
If the trend shows that jund is increasing, does that mean more players are playing jund, or are more players playing decks that jund is better against? How should I then choose which deck I should play?
Again, good article and I hope you can do something similar for block, but I'm still not sure what I should do with the info.
combo can be strong against LandStill, the point there is heavy perm destruction through Deeds etc, which is why it dominates in a meta with DnT and Gobos running wild, with combo you maybe able to go off before landstill beats you down, just gotta watch for the counters, also there is power in Aggro Loam v LandStill because it also doesnt rely on permanents, you get seismic to stick and you can throw down
Landstill has problems with Merfolk(esp the 4cc ones) and generaly needs to side in something for combo as it has no clock to clock the combo player from sculpting hands, no disruption and half of its spellls are blanks in that mu (being that they are removal).
Ah Blau, I gave you a subtle clue but you didn't pick up on it :) Also I don't remember playing anyone in tribal in the week until the tourney :) I got the idea whilst drafting a spawn token deck under the influence of alcohol.
I will have to start testing with Student of Warfare in the Loam Lion slot. It seems like it has the right casting cost and the level up to a 3/3 body with first strike for WW does not seem to bad of a deal.
Why did you only do MED3? Starting June 9th MED123 drafting will be available. I am under the impression that it may be the most profitable draft set in a long time.... Do you think we could get those numbers?

It's worth noting that UW's numbers are just a shade under 90% statistical significance, so it's a decent bet to say that UW is on a down swing.
You are right. If I only took this off of 4-0/3-1 decks, the results would be skewed. Thus, I track ALL decks being played. :)
Wait what? There are classes in this? Who's the professor?

Unless she's in M11!

Excellent, looking forward to it! :)

Seismic IS a permanent but I know what you mean :) Seems like youd have to toss something else objectionable out there for the deeds to hit first.
Only if there are new versions in M11. They're not going to release a new card in a duel decks pack.
There's still three months until the duel decks are released. Shortly thereafter, Elspeth will leave standard.

its still shocks me to see Elspeth continuing to go up despite the duel deck news

OK cool. That does sound good but why 4cmc? Am I missing something?
Landstill has problems with Merfolk(esp the 4cc ones) and generaly needs to side in something for combo as it has no clock to clock the combo player from sculpting hands, no disruption and half of its spellls are blanks in that mu (being that they are removal).
Why stop with just MED3 and MED123? I'd love to see UZ and soon UzUzUl in that table. I'd much rather see Urza's in the table first than RoE.
Legacy actually comes out later this month. Lots of new goodies to be had!
Ah Blau, I gave you a subtle clue but you didn't pick up on it :) Also I don't remember playing anyone in tribal in the week until the tourney :) I got the idea whilst drafting a spawn token deck under the influence of alcohol.
Well, kind sir, I think I will...
