The feedback on this site is much better ever since they got rid of the annons.

  • Pauper PE Recap: June 18, 2010   14 years 51 weeks ago

Bushwacker ensures a hasty victory via the goblin horde but I agree that one of is not enough. 3 minimum and 4 is probably the correct number. But to do that changes the deck considerably. Not a huge fan of storm (who is?) but it certainly has stuck around a while. Evolution must happen with decks that last.

It feels good enough now that the other combos have slowed down, but I guess we will see. <3 Enchantress

Also, thanks! :D I hope I can get some more articles flowin' because this is a lot of fun.

And to think those Teferis in my collection were just collecting dust lol. Excellent article, looks like you will be joining me on the Legacy darkside. Keep up the great work!

Grim Tutor is unbanned in Legacy right? Have you considered that option in a black/red discard build? Or, is that discussion for the next article lol.

  • Pauper PE Recap: June 18, 2010   14 years 51 weeks ago

I see what you mean. I can go into more detail with the spotlights and I'll talk more about specific card choices next time.

The singleton Reclaim acts as an extra version of anything you've previously played in your effort to go off. Since the deck runs so many cantrips and card draw it's very likely that you'll see the card almost immediately after you fetched it. It can be anything from another Ideas Unbound to Grapeshot. It's kept as a single due to its very limited use, it cuts into your "draw" in a way and it requires G mana which is less accessible than red or black.

A singleton Bushwhacker maindeck sounds pretty pointless and inconsistent though.

Middleman writes down each participant in the PE and what deck they're playing. It's a collaboration article.

Oh sorry, I didn't remember the title. I'll switch back.

Very enjoyable, it's nice to see other decks creeping into the realm of viability now that ANT and Reanimator have been slowed down. If this deck catches on I'll have to make some adjustments to my Enchatress deck... hmmm

    Also, welcome to PureMTGO!

How quickly I forget they aren't artifacts......STUPID Coloring!

  • Pauper - Reloaded   14 years 51 weeks ago

If the current trend goes forward, it may be rockin to play Nacatl Outlander and Yavimaya Barbarian with Smash to smithereens main, make an aggresive Red Green build, with some LD for the quicksands/tempo.

  • Taking a Look at Zen Block Constructed (Part 2)   14 years 51 weeks ago

"The card, in all it's glory, was Sunweb. Why? Because it was a giant flying dragon and because at 5/6, it was bigger than any of the other creatures I got in those packs."

I had to chuckle a little bit when I read about the Sunweb comment, When I first saw it I thought it was a dragon too, then I looked more closely at the artwork and name and realized the dragon is caught in the Sunweb. The actual creature is the glowing sun-like ball with a white net coming out of it.

This was a great read. I followed your Teachings deck on youtube before even reading this article and thought it was simply an awesome deck. It's such a shame that this juvenile has to die because of the Extended Rotation!

  • Pauper - Reloaded   14 years 51 weeks ago

Thanks Paul, I was really nervous about playing it as I wrote at the top...but it just had the ability to win, no fancy slam dunks, it just wins. I kept playing it for about 4 days, and it hardly lost, nothing spectacular, but it just always finished the job. My inner mage was screaming to use staggershot and more 'obvious' cards...or to keep martyr in sideboard..but I couldn't go against the results I was getting. About the only change I may make is adding one more vulshok in sb for a flaring pain to better my odds against big blue. I may even reduce the number of 1cc damage spells, as spellstutter sprites are SO popular right now.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

Gamble is a necessary evil it seems in game 1s. It's an unreliable tutor, but still a tutor. I wasn't too impressed with Blood Moon because I was trying to go off quickly, not stall the board.

I take out gambles because there are cards you want in certain match-ups, so it's no longer needed. It's just more reliable to have the cards in your deck then to gamble for them, especially when all your board cards are all 3 and 4 ofs.

    Hopefully that made sense.

All in all, Blood Moon is not worth it in my opinion.

  • Pauper - Reloaded   14 years 51 weeks ago

Can't go wrong with Mulldrifter imho. Reload seems like an interesting deck. I've been toying with various grixis builds in pauper casual. Not sure of all of the burn spells you use but apparently it works well enough to top 8 you. Good job and good article.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

I'm not stating that there aren't ways to deal with the deck or outs to almost everything.

Yes, the ReAnimator deck is a bad match-up. It has countermagic... I covered that. :) Your sideboard is for your worst match-ups and your Meta-Game. I put Vexing Shushers in there to help out against "ALL" countermagic decks. I also did not put any graveyard hate because I haven't played against it often enough. With ReAnimator probably going down in popularity I don't see a need. But we will have to see what the new Meta will look like.

The versions that use Trinisphere, Chalice, and Staxx Pieces are Dragonstompy decks. They attempt to slow down their opponent so they can do dumb lategame things. This version of the deck tries to go off as fast as possible. Two different decks. :)

  • Budgeted Resources - Signs of the Zodiac Part 1 - Aries   14 years 51 weeks ago

like the deck though with Goblin War Drums i'm always tempted to run cards like Familiar Ground from seventh.
    Familiar Ground
    Mana Cost: 2G
    Card Type: Enchantment
Description: Each creature you control can't be blocked by more than one creature.

    Thats right unblockable.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

You get 5 mana easily on turns 2 and 3. I've just been testing it lately to see what direction I should go in. Which I believe I have found the best possible way...but that is for my next article. So your "half an article" comment is close seeing as this was just an introduction to the deck.

This could be a tournament deck, I would have to say this build probably would not do so hot right now because of the exuberant amounts of blue mages. There are a lot of players in Daily Events that own Force of Wills. I realize Daily Events and the Tournament Practice room are two different levels. I just have not done any DEs with the deck yet because it didn't feel close to being finished yet.

I plan on doing some tournaments with it soon, so hopefully I can get some results to support this topic. After the banning of Mystical Tutor, this deck gets a little better since most of the combo decks relied on it, so making them slow down is a nice thing.

Not to mention, Show and Tell wasn't that good seeing as ReAnimator was an amazing deck that saw quite a bit of play.

Havent signed in in a while but its time to say how great your articles are and keep em coming. Great stuff =) Love the video content.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

I see you mentioned running blood moon's instead of gamble, have you decided which is better? When looking at your sideboard decisions, you take out gamble against every matchup. It seems like Gamble shouldn't be in the deck at all, do you still believe blood moon is the best card to take it's place?

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

Nice deck i will have to get Sneak Attack and try it out looks fun and should have some good match ups and silly factor. There a versions of this using Trinisphere,Chalice and other staxx peices too. I could not see this having a close to decent MU with Animator even w/o Mystical Tutor. Disrupt,Counters and your lack of any GY hate for Iona on red. You have no outs to Humility for Landstill decks that will be drawing 3 t2-3. Death and Taxes has StP if you go Emrakul you have to have more mana up for Karakas to use SA again or you have to play around Mangara.

Curfew,Spellbomb, Executioner's Capsule will also answer Emrakul if played preemptively or in Curfew's case instant speed. The beginning of combat step is where the bounce is limited to use and this gets worse if there is mana for Sneak Attack or Through the Breach played after.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

Flickerwisp begs to differ :p but seriously though I'd forgotten about the hastiness. As far as Zoo goes, games 2-3 might see Preserver tech if the Eldrazi make a dent in the meta. Not saying that's a perfect answer mind you, just a piece of the puzzle I am thinking.

  • Pseudo Infinity: Welcome and let's Sneak Attack through Legacy!   14 years 51 weeks ago

How does pridemage hurt Emrakul? He's no artifact or enchantment. Though he does hit Sneak Attack.

  • Out of the Blue - You've Gotta Fight for Your Rite...   14 years 51 weeks ago

Well done Splended, I love the idea. I've been working on ways to cast Emrakul since his release and this is by far the most fun. One major weekness I've found is it's inabilty to block flying creatures. So what I ended up doing was splashing some white in there along with celestial colonnade and some seaside citadel to add in Wall of Omens and Wall of Denial. I ended up removing the See Beyonds for Sea Gate Oracle and the Ponders for some Jace 2.0. The addition of the white also allowed me to sideboard Path to Exile and Oblivion Rings. Thank you and great articule, this has quickly turned into my fav deck to play :)

  • Pauper - Reloaded   14 years 51 weeks ago

The lack of breakdowns are beacause they're basically the same as Burning Kiln's list...felt it would just be repetitive and appear lazy :) Probably not in retrospect, as I shouldn't expect return readers as a given.

But blue card draw inclusions, hmmm...think twice and compuslive research and condescend were considered, but I wanted the most bang/buck, so the deep analysis's play like having 6. I played foresee over a fourth D.P. because I expected goblins/burn to be a close one...not as close as I thought, and seeing the neverending rise in mono blue, I may indeed push DP back to 4 main.

Unfortunatly, I don't think I'll be playing the next few, as I'm on vacation, but I may find the time here/there. Thanks for the comments :)
