I really like the decks you have presented. I too have been playing the Naya Shaman deck with one copy of Sun Titan and it is superb. Inferno Titan fits in that deck as well. If you can equip a Collar on it, your opponents have no more creatures.
I really liked the article! I never really had the problem that you seem to be having with the Tourney practice room. Occasionally I come across a deck that seems out of place, but I look at it as experience against the random deck I may face at FNM.
As for Baneslayers I think you may want to go that route. My only loss at Gameday was against Naya in the swiss. During the finals I was paired up against him again. I realized that I played too conservatively the first match. I played a more aggressive game in the finals. I ran two angels main and I also sided in the two Sphinx from the sideboard. That strategy worked out tremendously for me and I ended up taking 1st.
The deck I was thinking of was a UWG ramp beleren/sun titan deck using birds and hierarchs to put out a turn 2 jace. Use him to draw 3 cards and put out sun titan on turn 4 to put him straight back out. If it works you would have drawn 5 extra cards by turn 4! I'm not sure what to use as a finisher, maybe elspeth? Do you think this is viable?
As most commander games, very fun indeed! :-)
I had to sub out alot cards from my original Darien, King of Kjelldor deck to make it legal for this week's tribal criteria. It worked out ok, to certain point, LOL
BTW, The guy who won the final table, Chuck Norris, had an impressive infinite-turn solitaire wizard deck. Not very fun to play against. But dominant nonetheless. Also, props to "Julie" for taking the time to host our event.
Im new to this board, but I enjoy all the articles, particularly the Commander stuff!!
I watched Lythand play it in the PRE this saturday (I was too late to play)...Mass Polymorph ftw. At least I think that was the deck. (Looked like it.)
I'm personally offended by the Magic terms "Tapping" and "Saccing". I'm here to have clean fun, and these guys are tapping their Baneslayer Angels, tapping their Fauna Shaman... One dude even tapped Gideon Jura o.O God knows how the saccing process works...
What's worse is when you combine the two, then you have Sac-Tapping!
Thanks Lythand, I'm still playing the Rite deck too, in fact I've been playing it this evening (albeit with mixed results). You came up with a nice evolution of the deck as I remember, I'll have to check that list out again, as right now mine's feeling a little slow at times.
Another fun loving deck you have come up with. I am still paying your green blue ramp deck that rite of replicates the Overgrown Battlement to draw your deck and cast Emrakul. I have even gone beyaond standard and been playing it in extended.
I been trying to come up with a deck that uses the lich as well and this seems like a good idea. I was going along the lines of a Mono Black Control deck, but this may be the deck to beat.
In WoW you would see someone spamming the Trade channels (Never used for actual trading mind you) with something like:
"LF4m - ICC25, Need Tank and DPS - Please have 5600gs and Link Achiev."
Which translates to...
"Looking for four more people for Icecrown Citadel 25. Needs a tank are three damage dealers. Please have a gearscore of atleast 5600 and link me the achievement to prove you know what you're doing."
Which translates to...
"Need more people willing to waste the next 5-6 hours of their life failing easy content. Your epeen must be thiiiiiiiiiiis big to join us."
Consensual Concession is at the very heart of what WOTC doesn't like about prize splits.
They are fine with how you split your prizes as long as the winner is not determined by fraud. Which in this case means in any method other than completing the game or with a concession that has not been agreed upon before hand. To do otherwise is to invite disaster legally and financially. Keep in mind, magic online is NOT a gambling game.
Btw I probably would have giggled a little if I knew what that ad meant and was around when you posted it. Bring deck? lol.
I don't mind the article myself, and as others have stated, I can't get the info normaly because I am behind a firewall at work. I don't agree with everything either, but I don't know if there are any articles I agree with everything. You can read an article about deck building and not agree with all the card choices. It's something different and I don't mind it at all.
fantastic stuff as always, I really love the BW and RW lists (though I'd probably rework the sideboard in the BW), makes me wish I had the cards to fill out the lists and give them a run
I haven't trolled in awhile so I guess it's time I do so. I am offended by deck names like White Weenie and Red Deck Wins. Not to mention I hate cereal and even mentioning it in a decklist makes me cringe. Let me guess what is next, a Magic Mosque built right next to ground zero?
That was probably the same person I beat 2-0, 2-0 only to receive grumbles about luck sacking into triple force of will despite the fact I had used brainstorms and ponders.
Mysticals ban didn't do much to combo, but it does appear reanimator went silent.
Jyalt, read the first two paragraghs of his article. Google the definition of an editorial. Now increase the rating you gave the article because the author accomplished his goal of writing an editorial as can be seen from your vehement response.
Like everyone else, I didn't agree with everything you've pointed out, but I like the article and hope you continue to make more of these. Very well done for a first attempt.
Thanks everybody for the comments. I do hope that I was successful in showing a few new ways to enjoy Sun Titan.
A few things:
@Splendid Belt: Yes, Emrakul can be destroyed with Executioner's Capsule.
@Kidsoldja: Momentous Fall is a nice card especially with Garruk's tokens. But the question is this: What to cut?
@radiant: I prefer Pilgrim's Eye because it also provides protection. And the fact that it's colorless is very important too.
@Westane: If you are also using the Ertai avatar, then you are a boring Blue mage just like me! And don't argue. Only boring Blue mages use the Ertai avatar. Especially the ones with a cat on their head.
@speks: Grave Titan surely is an option but it is easier to get rid of than Elspeth. And besides, I always liked playing Elspeth. She's simply awesome.
@Sirskills: Tectonic Edge with Sun Titan really is mean. Just check the screenshot above against WU Control. My opponent eventually found a way to exile my titan, but the damage was already done. Check his manabase!
"Women" is quite a chromosome upgrade compared to all the over-sensitive 'male' comments above.
I'm totally with ya "Reclusive3000" - Lets all get offended by cards beginning with the same letter as our names, so long as it isn't complementary - that'd be REALLY productive.
What really bothers me is the Mystical Tutor got banned in Legacy because of somebody from Wizards apparently did some Legacy testing in the TP room...

I look forward to trying some of these out!
Don't usually post but wanted to say that I really appreciate this type of article. Keep on writing them! :D

Haha, best comment ever.
Thanks for another good article

Hehe, no firewall with the County. Hell I write and research my articles here at work XD. Go go IT position!

But breakfast cereals taste so good! (Not.) I guess I agree about that after all.

But, that's what I want to play eventually XD That or Landstill.
Agreed if that was in reference to Reanimator going silent. Next on my list of wants and desires......ban Counterbalance!
So what you are trying to say is they lose this, http://puremtgo.com/articles/man-card101 ?
