one of its wins was against a mill deck while it had 0 cards in the library

  • Out of the Blue - Beware of Dragons Bearing Gifts...   14 years 37 weeks ago

here's the version I've been trying on and off for a month or so ... it's fun at times ... but pretty casual ... can be very slow when it doesn't roll over and die quickly to the opponent

    2 Carnage Altar
    3 Prophetic Prism
    3 Dragon Appeasement

    4 Emrakul's Hatcher
    4 Kozilek's Predator
    4 Nest Invader
    2 Pelakka Wurm

    3 Brood Birthing
    4 Growth Spasm
    1 Overrun

    3 Lightning Bolt
    3 Burst Lightning
    2 Terminate

    2 Reliquary Tower
    4 Savage Lands
    3 Terramorphic Expanse
    3 Evolving Wilds
    4 Forest
    4 Mountain
    2 Swamp

it's not a great deck but thought you'd like to know it did inspire some playing around - even if it was months later

    Dotstar,

Everyone is different of course. Some get sea sick some will only dance the Mambo, others live for simulated suicide (skydiving, climbing mount everest, trying to really keep going all night long ect).

To me the casual room is just a room like any of the other rooms. I like to play with people I already know formats we agree upon and do my best to build something effective knowing they will do the same. Sometimes I like the group room for a good long slog or a momir basic match with just about anyone, though I recently sold my momir so I guess thats off the list heh.

IMO casual room is for casually playing (come/go) - not deck type as that would be restricted like cards/deck types are.

Also as a player I would prefer to play against no hulk/flash or such turn 1 decks which are really in most cases pointless as they will do it. No issue with the decks - i just can't see a long term enjoyment for the actual player.

I am always impressed by good deck design and play - just would never bring to a non-tourn room regularly a turn 1 kill deck. Anything else is fair game.

Each player is different mind you - some get annoyed with (Path To Exile).

That works too, and I really would like to see people use the channel mroe for that but it's often dead when were not running PREs event though people are online playing Heirloom with one another. Best to use both direct connections and the chat channel to get the best results.

My prob is I'm a better deck maker than player, what would be awesome would be teams to discuss the 'metagame' with.

  • Heirloom Constructed: Godfathers Part 1   14 years 37 weeks ago

Ah, had never heard it called "the mothership" before. I had posted a new thread to announce the sunday date and updated the most recent thread, I went ahead and posted again in the main calander thread as well though, just to cover all the bases.

Actually unless commanders work differently FLickerwisp generates a TUrn to Mist effect.. Remove target creature from the game. Retunr it to play under its owners control at the end of turn.

So i can see where choosing exile expecting it to return would be logical

The client asking you to if you would like to put your commander in the COmmand Zone when Flickerwisps ability resolves is not a bug. It's working as intended.

    Fromt he EDH rules page.
"If a General would be put into a graveyard or exile from anywhere, its owner may choose to move it to the command zone instead.

This is a replacement effect; the creature never goes to the graveyard and will not trigger such abilities.
Generals will move to the library or hand as normal; only transitions to Exile or the Graveyard may be replaced."

    Hey Lythand,

I'm one of the main inventors and the top promoter of the format and I'm only 3/5 in rounds in events so far. It's a new format so there's bound to be some grandiose failures for quite some time by everyone.

I'll probably log in on Saturday to let people know what's up about this weeks event being the next day. The only problem is that I know of some very enthusiastic heirloom players that simply cannot play on Saturday and vice versa. Until there can be an event both days I'll have to stick to this compromise or something similar.

I haven't seen the Mothership PRE forums. I guess I'll try googling them after this post, thanks for the tip.

Oh right, totally went over my head, but yeah having both events is a time cruncher. Be great seeing you as much as is good for you in any case. =P

Probably something rude and dismissive would be my guess. Those who cheat knowingly seldom respond kindly to it being pointed out. And even less so if you pass judgment. And I agree. Exploiting client bugs to win is definitely cheating. Which is why I said that about it being awful. The thing is the client is a wip. It will always have something to exploit/cheat off of somehow. And unfortunately there will always be people who exploit it deliberately and with malice.

  • Getting Promoted: Basic Training Part 2   14 years 37 weeks ago

I agree with Paul, that sounds horrible, but it's mostly horrible because the players intentionally and knowingly exploit the bug. That's = to cheating in my opinion. I'm curious, I'm guessing in the in-game chat you told them they were exploiting bugs, yes, so what was their reply?

  • Getting Promoted: Basic Training Part 2   14 years 37 weeks ago

Good series Shard. I've been playing almost nothing but Commander lately and having a good time for the most part. But the "bugginess" of the format is starting to get to me. Ever since they instituted the command zone, there has been a bug wherein static abilities of your commander are active whist the commander is still in the command zone ie. Wort the Raidmother decs can conspire spells without her on the board. Azusa decs can play 3 land a turn all day if they want to. Tolsmir Wolfhound is completely broken. So is Teferi. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. And today I had an opponent Flickerwisp my commander. The client asked if I wanted to send him to the command zone, which I felt was odd because I know flickerwisp will put him back on the board at the next end step LIKE IT SAYS ON THE CARD! So I click no, and wait patiently for his turn to end and mine to begin. And Brion Stoutarm just sits there exiled. He's not dissapearing like a token would, he's just gone.
And whats worse, the villain knew this would happen. He intentionally exploited what should have bean obvious to anyone was a glitch. I don't know If I can play under those conditions.

  • Pauper Recap: Scars Is On The Horizon & Ramp Makes Its Presense Felt   14 years 37 weeks ago

Reading comprehension poor - my apologies.

There were 2 Red Deck Wins in the top 4 in that PE. I should be able to update the figure.

    Thanks.

  • Getting Promoted: Basic Training Part 2   14 years 37 weeks ago

Thada Adel is gross in Commander. She steals the ramping artifacts and anything that could destroy the ramped out Eldrazi soon to follow. Vend Clique is also probably the best 1v1 Commander.
