I will try in the future to list other time zones but as pointed out its a pretty unfriendly timeslot for non-american players.
There is not much I can do about that as my work schedule prevents me from hosting at any other time during the week and the weekends are so cluttered with WOTC events and many other PRE's that it just isn't feasible to jam another one in there.
So if there was going to be another SilverBlack event at a euro-friendly time, it would need another host.
Unfortunately the lack of a loop system is what hinders combo online. IN paper magic once you demonstrate that a loop is infinite you can just pick a number...
As someone who enjoys combo decks this is one of mtgo's biggest downfalls.
I actually ran into 3 or 4 different Rasputin pilots right before MBS came out, otherwise he would have made the list. I have put a deck together with him using everything you mention except for proliferate but I haven't had time to play it. Hopefully soon.
Thanks to Hammy, I have made easily 30~40 tickets off of buying low and selling high, watching his trends and also some good guesswork :-D
I personally like the loop thing, although I think they could also do with a "Default Actions" link. So, for instance, I can make the Default Action when a Solemn Simulacrum is cast to allow it to happen always. That way, between games, or even in the same game with recursion or multiple players, any casting of a Solemn Simulacrum uses my Default and therefore doesn't bother me. Same with him dying and me having to accept the player drawing a card.
If something like this were implemented, a LOT of the tedium would be removed, without needing the "loop" idea. For instance, the Default Action of "Sakura Tribe Elder" could be set to sacrifice at "end of turn before my turn".
I hate that idea. I have sat through games (and won them) where my opponent was forced to iterate his combo until he got bored and then passed priority and then I ruined his plan. If he had not gotten bored he could have won by sheer weight of numbers. Approaching infinite can be too much to come back from. Making it easy on the combo artists means they merely have to HAVE the combo available and not worry about screwing it up or running out of patience, clock etc.
I always said that MTGO should have a looping system. I envisioned it like this.
If you have a loop, you press a button called "Loop". You perform the motions of the loop 3 times. This allows your opponent to respond. If you opponent does not respond, the game then stops and asks you if you would like to do a continuoues loop. If so, how many times. You type in say 100 times. The game will tell your opponent that you are attempting to do the loop 100 times and if you wish to respond anywhere in the loop. You can say yes I want to respond on number X of the loop, or say no I don't want to and then you come to an immediate game state after the 100 times.
I would echo your sentiments in liking the idea for the format. Also, I think the diversity in available formats is a good thing rather than a bad thing.
EST is GMT -5 hours. So 6:30pm EST is 11:30pm GMT, meaning that this event isn't too friendly to us European players. Sadly, that means I'm unlikely to be able to try this one out.
One card that isn't on your list that could very easily be included is Rasputin Dreamweaver. I really want to build a deck around him because he was one of the few Legends from Legends that I owned back in the day. I'm thinking the deck needs a lot of ways to use the extra mana that he can generate as well as blink and proliferate effects to recharge his counters.
Being a Ham Radio operator we use that format for keeping times in our station logs.
Here is a nice site to figure out your local time-vs-GMT. Also use the 24 hour format (13:30GMT).
I like the idea of having more ways to use my cards, but i don't know if anyone is capable of following so many formats.
Pauper, std pauper, heirloom, BYOS, peasant, and those are just on the top of my mind. Magic is so tempting.
But, i have a real complain, that is not just for you, is kinda for everyone.
Timezone! Please, refer to also to GMT. Non american players would like to join too, and this simple measure can help it.
Hey guys, I'm glad you did a podcast even though there wasn't much Classic activity this week. Things like this help keep the interest up. Talking about your latest brews was a good way to give some content. I got beat up by the Snake City deck some time over the last week, and it is good. Nice to hear some of the thought went into building it.
For some criticism, I don't know how much access to audio editing software (or time to edit) you have, but you can make it sound a bit smoother by editing out some of the "um"s and empty spaces. Not all of them, it should still sound natural and conversational. But a few times you guys kind of trail off and it could be tightened up with editing. Or like where Whiffy asked for a question to be repeated, that could have been edited out - we don't need to hear the question twice.
But that's sort of just nitpicky. The content is quality, and that's what matters. Good work!
I remembered you watched a game i was playing in, and were just like...unfair
I know those werent the exact words, but i dont remember you being a fan of how the deck won lol, kinda like the the cycling zombies deck i had.
Hey Niabock, we have only interacted with the Monthly CMC on the forums so far, but welcome to pure as a writer. Hope to see more articles from you. Every Wednesday eh? I may have to give this a shot. I certainly have plenty of underplayed uncommons to choose from. :)
Sun Quan was a fun commander, but my favourite was Meng Huo.
I like control a lot but agro is my fav. I think I have the lists somewhere.
I started Chaos as EDH over a year ago. I took a hiatus about 8 months ago and appointed Julie as the hostess. I came back in January as Seductive_Nightmare. ,I am around a lot on both names, so if anyone needs help with commander decks I can help! :D
Was Dark Princess, she has a new user name now.
I won't give it out though without her permission heh xD
Oh, and as for Celestial Kirin, Eternal Dragon comes to mind :)
And the newish changelings, of course, work.
I might try to toss a build together later.
The missing match is up on youtube

well thanks to the memories...its back in almost all its glory. All i need to pick up are the Tower of Fortunes and the Rude Awakening.

Yeah that's how I remember it. But sort of funny because someone cleared the board and you just did it again.
i think it was less combo and more ok i gave 76 mana 24 cards and any army of 18/18 tramplers....

I think I remember playing against that deck. I just went wow... that's one heck of a combo.

I was a little shocked I think.

Go for it! I'd love to see a Taniwha deck.
I think I remember that deck from awhile back. Fierce times.
Heck yeah that meng huo deck was tight like i said...for some reason though people stopped playing me with it...
Sorry, meant Thopter Assembly.
Glad someone tried Kaho!
