It's been awhile since I've seen an article of yours and you just happen to review one of my all time favourites. Fantastic read. And the videos are as always good.

  • Mana Maze - Chain Gang   14 years 15 weeks ago

I guess so, but I was looking at some of the cards and 6.74 just for anvil i was like wow...but it is certainly cheaper than primeval or jace

  • Mana Maze - Chain Gang   14 years 15 weeks ago

chains is still bugged on mtgo, in comboination with certain cards. Discard to top of your library with Library of Leng, and the game goes nuts, into a super fast replay , then it completely restarts the game from scratch

  • Mana Maze - Chain Gang   14 years 15 weeks ago

Price? I guess it's more expensive than many decks, but it's still on the cheap side. I spent less than 80 tickets putting it together, and a lot of that includes staples like Maze of Ith, Sol Ring, etc that are useful in almost every deck.

Compared to the price of any deck containing a Primeval Titan, I still feel like it's on the cheap side. :)

  • Mana Maze - Chain Gang   14 years 15 weeks ago

This deck is like one of Charlie Sheen's Hookers. Pricy, but Sexy, and I would never play it. /end joke THe only reason I say I wouldnt play it though is because of the price otherwise it looks great. I have always wanted to do a near creatureless Commander deck. Mainly either Ashling, the Pilgrim or something in black with an extra two creatures of Maga, Traitor to Mortals and Graveborn Muse. But again very mean, though now eveyrone who reads this will be after you in the client lol

Excellent coverage, Olaw. Great to see the coverage that you do. Thanks!

  • The Heirloom Season 3 Premiere   14 years 15 weeks ago

Wow ... that's a lot of content once again. I am sure i did not get half of the information you present here even though i was in the tournament myself. It is really nice to see what happend at the other ends of the tournament.

  • The Heirloom Season 3 Premiere   14 years 15 weeks ago

    Excellent coverage there.
During the tournaments, and expecially near the end, I'm always so busy fighting the DCI-r, trading for prizes and giving instructions that I can't fully enjoy the matches "live", so I always wait for these articles to understand what exactly happened in the tournament :D

  • Affiliating for Standard   14 years 15 weeks ago

Hi Pete, I think your final list is missing 6 cards in the main deck and 2 in the sideboard.

Also the new White "Evil" Soul Sisters lady can be incredibly dangerous in the right deck. She's great in Limited where everybody plays creatures for starters. And she's a common and that means you can get more than one for your deck in drafts or in Sealed.

Also pair her with Blood Seeker in a WB Soul Sisters kind of deck in Standard, and watch the fun! That may not become a Tier-1 deck in Standard any time soon, but it will surely be enough to storm the Casual Room, trust me.

Apologies again for the sound quality on the commentated videos. Also, the audio appears to be out of sync on most of these videos. Both these issues I believe I've been able to sort out now but sadly not in time for submitting this article.
Future video content should be of a better quality.

Lotus Farmers think your next guest should be Timmins talking about his 4color fish deck.

  • State of the Program - March 10th 2011   14 years 15 weeks ago

Scripts seem like the thin end of the wedge for playing bots.

  • Pauper - Stompy   14 years 15 weeks ago

You misunderstood my comment. I meant that maybe black/red is not good against these deck so thats why we don't see them in tournament. I had good result against storm, not that much against affinity but I need more practice.

Have you played against red/black sacrifice? What is you sidebord strategy?

  • Pauper - Stompy   14 years 15 weeks ago

No offence intended, but it sounds like stompy isn't your style if your losing to that. Once in a while with terrible flood etc.., maybe, but it shouldn't happen even 2 in 20 times.

  • Pauper - Stompy   14 years 15 weeks ago

TuorO - Did you read the article? Did you see the FIVE videos of me beating storm? How then after this can you conclude 'it's not good against storm?" It is good against everything... any deck can have the nuts (as written above) affinity is a great deck - but (AS WRITTEN ABOVE) it isn't a hard matchup for someone who pilots it well. Always close, but never a wipeout either way. If you want to beat stompy, play WW, Elves or MBC (again I wrote this above).

  • State of the Program - March 10th 2011   14 years 15 weeks ago

I think the first suggestion (do 2 times, then ask how many times and ask when to interrupt) is pretty cool and should not be too hard to implement.

The scripting for multiplayer is very hard though.. it may be easier to add audio-video support and play as you could play on a table:) that would be quite cool! I mean multiplayer games online are there for the fun of it so they may as well be less restricted in the rules, you just have begin turn-end turn, all the rest happens freely and you can communicate with voice to the table.

  • MMogg's Musings #1: Commander Kemba Reporting for Duty   14 years 15 weeks ago

I know this is a really late reply, but that combo doesn't work. Exsanguinate doesn't deal damage, it directly causes life loss, so the Furnace won't double it.

  • Pauper - Stompy   14 years 15 weeks ago

Good to know, maybe I've been unlucky and didn't tried on real tournament yet. Maybe it's not good against afinity and storm so I will not encounter it when I'll do tournament

  • Agur's Videos - Sparkblade Again? (Standard Daily with Sparkblade Evolved)   14 years 15 weeks ago

Thank you both for the review.

On the issue of which version to play: I'm kinda in the air too about them they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. And I think the biggest factor will be what meta game you expect.

  • Agur's Videos - Sparkblade Again? (Standard Daily with Sparkblade Evolved)   14 years 15 weeks ago

Awesome vids. I kind of went on a Caw-blade video fest today. Viewed yours, Kibler's, and LSV's. It is interesting watching the different decisions each of you seem to take.

After watching the three different lists I still think that the UW version is probably the best. It may sacrifice some diversity, but I think it makes up for it in consistency.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Pauper - Stompy   14 years 16 weeks ago

I dont think I have ever played against the deck you mentioned. I have played 29 matches so far, and 21 wins (72%). I went 4-0 in todays daily - and I even defeated affinity (Shield of the Oversoul is key!).

    Regards

  • Agur's Videos - Sparkblade Again? (Standard Daily with Sparkblade Evolved)   14 years 16 weeks ago

It's very nice to be able to follow the little shifts of this deck's build, especially when they get to be piloted so well.

    Great work again, Agur! :)

  • Agur's Videos - Sparkblade Again? (Standard Daily with Sparkblade Evolved)   14 years 16 weeks ago

Yes, I feel the same way too. It is interesting to note that some Vala decks are playing wall of tangle-cord as a sword spoiler and twisted image also ruins that as well, so we will see how the meta shifts from there.

  • Conqueror & Commander, Vol. XLIX: 25 Unloved Commanders   14 years 16 weeks ago

I had two Rasputin builds myself.
One was an astral slide deck.
Other was an artifact ramp deck.
The ramp deck used Worldpurge as its fallback plan.

Currently working on that Celestial Kirin deck for fun.
it has some powerful interactions but has trouble setting up permanents like equipment/enchantments.
You spend a lot of time sweeping various CMC's.

For anyone else trying it out I'd like to mention that the most important cmc's to have a lot of spirits in are 2,3,5,6.
Take advantage of the lack of 0 cmc in the form of tokens and cheap artifacts.
    Indestructible helps alot.

  • Agur's Videos - Sparkblade Again? (Standard Daily with Sparkblade Evolved)   14 years 16 weeks ago

Nice to see another article on this deck and glad to see things went a little better for you this time out.

I agree with your doubts about Twisted Image in the sideboard, it does sometimes seem like dreaming a bit too big sometimes but I'm hardly one to argue with LSV. I suppose it depends what decks you are planning to come up against. It certainly worked well on those Overgrown Battlements in Round 3, and a 1 mana cantrip kill spell for a Steppe Linx against Boros is probably pretty nice too.
