OOO!! Zombie Infestation seems better, anything on a stick is vulnerable.

  • Modern Brewing Before September 20th   13 years 43 weeks ago

Forget looting...Use Oona's Prowler and Zombie Infestation for discard outlets. They are nuts, and the Zombie tokens actually do quite a bit of work.

  • Freed From The Real #135: Good name for a Prog Rock album   13 years 43 weeks ago

Disclaimer: I am not usually much for podcasts.

That said, I really enjoyed this. You guys are talking about everything that I want to know about. The coverage of topics felt complete and the range was nice too.

I look forward to listening to more of these.

    Thank you.

I think another good name for a prog rock album is "Angels, Archons, and All the Tribes."

  • State of the Program for September 16th   13 years 43 weeks ago

I think you do a great job with this series and I also look forward to it every week.

  • Learning through losing - Modern Banned and Restricted List   13 years 43 weeks ago

From what you said, I can't help but think the b&r list was done in a haste. The list, except for Affinity cards, seems to be more theoretical than practical. When a new format joins the family it should be given time to mold and develop. Hope they do more good than harm for the upcoming list. (^^)

  • State of the Program for September 16th   13 years 43 weeks ago

I mean, I love Null Rod as much as the next guy, but at $4600 i think it might be time to sell :P

Seriously though, Pete I appreciate your consistency and commitment to magic. This is my favorite magic related reading that I have every week.

Thank you for your hard work!

  • State of the Program for September 16th   13 years 43 weeks ago

Look for Null Rod to drop next week with the announcement of the white enchantment in Innistrad that does the same thing. Hoarders.... dump!

  • Learning through losing - Modern Banned and Restricted List   13 years 43 weeks ago

I don't think we need to ban stuff from combos if Control gets more tools.

Vision is not an issue in combo. It resolves in turn 5 - Zoo can win by then and you may even eat an Emrakul from 12 Post if you play combo and wait that much. The current combo decks want to win turn 3 or 4.

Jace is also less powerful than Stoneforge Mystic in general. Both are quite safe in the format - Jace hits turn 4 and brainstorms? Mystic at best has a 4/4 vigilant and lifelink TOKEN turn 3 (vulnerable to bounce, discard, Clique, artifact destruction and creature removal). The extra life is not going to matter that much against several of the combo decks in the format. Both are safe to unban in terms of power level - that doesn't mean I expect WotC to unban them though... I didn't expect them to be banned in the first place! I'm not trying to predict what WotC decides when they are clearly making decisions based on a non-objective basis. The previous bans were not considered on power level of the cards in the format - they seemed to consider the power level of the cards in Legacy, and then decide that they didn't want that kind of stuff in Modern, ignoring that Legacy has extremely high-impact cards such as FoW that make things extremely different.

    Ivo.

  • Learning through losing - Modern Banned and Restricted List   13 years 43 weeks ago

yea or they can wipe it clean and do a new b&r list in a few months time.

  • Learning through losing - Modern Banned and Restricted List   13 years 43 weeks ago

if they unban diving top than we can see more counter/top control decks which would balance out all the combo, also increasing more aggro decks.

  • Tarmotalk - My Three Weeks of Modern and the Modern Championships   13 years 43 weeks ago

Sorry to disappoint but I'm pretty much done with modern after having acquired the foil promo lightning bolt. =x
(Especially when it's not a format that I particularly enjoy and also because I'm not gunning for QPs this season.)
However, if there would be something I would have to test for that needs modern, I would be sure to include some videos then.

  • RGD #1 First RGD ever   13 years 43 weeks ago

As the poster above me said: ca is king (also true in RGD). That means that bounce lands are very high picks. Typically ppl splashed for them back then it was std (in limited)...

Today, with authentic luxury watches often costing in the tens of thousands of dollars or more, the market for Rolex Watches is booming. Whatever your personal views on the subject, you owe it to yourself to be armed with as much information as possible before making the decision to purchase a replica watch.

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

hiya! it might have been irrelevant but the packs were not that strong. most likely some changes during mid pack but the weak cards will more or less be tabled. still some variance but i think not that much.

the pack with steel sabotage had into the core and viridian emissary as notable picks. after pack 1 his deck was shaping to be u/b with black being main. at this point it would either remain open for second colour or solidify the deck.

sorry but i guess you might have read wrongly, i picked vapor snag. =)
shriek is quite undervalued due to its cost and body size but it does quite a good job for block duty. once the board stalls it might attack for a few turns and win through poison. =)

Lets start an internet band? :D (Lyricist, Vox and guitar here.)

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

Djembe is what I'm learning on... almost learnt all of the Kpache (I think that's the spelling).

Don't mind Nine Inch Nails, big fan when Downward Spiral was around and I highly respect Trent and his production but I'm not really a fan anymore... I go towards the more underground-electronic spectrum.

  • Rogue Play - Modernization, Part III   13 years 43 weeks ago

after winning alot of back to back 2mens , brought the deck to dailies and went 0-2, losing 2-1 to a mono white weenie deck, and 2-0 to a splinter twin deck. esp i drew horrible agains twin. i could win both matches. i am adding 4th wrath to the sideboard and adding 2 engineered explosives to main deck, taking out 1 spell snare and 1 orb. lets see how it goes

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

I like that you owned up to your mistakes in the draft viewer. That Glint Hawk Idol really was terrible... =) We all do it from time to time.

    Grats on the win.

  • Tarmotalk - My Three Weeks of Modern and the Modern Championships   13 years 43 weeks ago

can you post some modern videos. :)

And in a former life, I did some graphic design. I continue to get the current versions of Adobe CS for production purposes.

I have Photoshop and Illustrator. Not that that is awesome or anything, but I am just sayin' I got mad skill. :)

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

Yeah I saw that series. I was disappointed that they didn't continue it. It was fun. Loved the buffy guy as King Uther.

RE: logos, talk to me in the client if you want tips or even for me to help. I use GIMP and PS for mine but most art programs will do.

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

Do you listen to much Nine Inch Nails? I love them. My mom, when I was 14, found the Downward Spiral CD and read the lyrics. She threw it away, claiming that it was blasphemous. I reminded her of that shortly after and she denied it, and went on to even say that she likes Nine Inch Nails...

I can play a djembe and congas pretty well. I love drumming.

Rome is awesome. Thanks for the suggestions for British shows. I find that I identify with British humor pretty well for a "Merican.

    I'll check out your comments.
    Thank you.

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

Congrats on the winning... I commented over on Raredraft (as you can easily link to the picks).

TV... I'm absolutely made about Stephen Fry's QI (UK series), it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen and packed full of interesting stuff, and intelligent fart jokes! Now into Season 9 and I still can't get enough. Still laughing over Blue Mountain State, US college/football series (and I'm not into sports at all, it's a TV series in the flavour of Animal House or Revenge of the Nerds). Really enjoyed the last few seasons of Doctor Who ... and lately re-watching the ROME series. It's a few years old now, but I still absolutely love the very off-beat and slightly wrong comedy of The Green Wing (went for 2 seasons, UK show), most people need to give it 2 or 3 episodes first to "get" the style - also it's got a great soundtrack and won a whole bunch of UK awards for it's editing, which I still think is extremely clever and well done.

Music... I'm into electronic-industrial (EBM) music, love your Mum story there, that's ace! Never liked metal much, classic bands like Frontline Assembly, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Front 242. And I've been learning African drumming since June this year (not into the style so much but fun playing).

  • Tarmotalk - My Three Weeks of Modern and the Modern Championships   13 years 43 weeks ago

I like playing control too, and would like to think something is viable.

    GL on your quest, sir.

  • Limited Abilities:NMS Draft #1   13 years 43 weeks ago

Looks like we have some musical overlap. I like 1st Wave and some 3rd wave Punk Rock, some Classic, Metal of a lot of flavors, dark ambient, indie, Radiohead, some blues and jazz, hip-hop and gangsta rap, and classical. Basically anything that is made by a genius, I am into.

Another show that has had a 2 season run that my wife and I like right now is Merlin. It is kind of a "Buffy-Bubblegum" version of the Arthurian legend, where Merlin and Arthur do a mediocre impression of The Odd Couple, but I like bubblegum sometimes. as long as it is fantasy based.

Thank you for the compliment about the article. It means a lot because yours is so nicely done. I think I am going to make a banner like yours, since I can use the photoshops and illustrators.

    tyvm, sir.
