Seconded. Pretty much every land I wanted to see reprinted other than Waste is on the reserve list :(

I agree about Slip, Bloodgift Demon, and Garruk (which, incidentally, is why I've been testing a BWR version). However, I do think Grafdigger's Cage pulls it weight. As of right now I have won quite a few matches against graveyard-based decks by simply playing a turn-one cage. Their Think Twices and Desperate Ravings just aren't good without their flashback half.

    I hope you are right

  • Mikey K Radio – Island's Are Everywhere!   13 years 17 weeks ago

Well, I don't think anyone needs to be dickish about this, Mikey, and I can see how they would think this was not up to par.

    1. I can edit for you if you need. The difference between "do" and "due" is huge :).

    2. Yeah, no complaining.

    3. jamuraa made an awesome way to embed deck lists. People want them. It also helps promote sales for the site. Win/Win

    4. I think you handled the harsh criticism well. Don't let it get you down.

    5. Finally, I know that you know the format. Random TP room is random. At least do 2-mans, the credit from these should more than offset your spending, especially if you win.

  • Mikey K Radio – Island's Are Everywhere!   13 years 17 weeks ago

Aside from personal preferences though they did offer you some critique to improve by. If I were you I'd take it. The other stuff, sure let that roll off your back.

This is what I took away from their posts:
    1. Get someone to proof read the article as short as it is.
    2. Don't complain on the video. This isn't simply a stylistic issue but one of turning off listeners/viewers.
    3. Do more homework before firing your series off. Get in the trenches and really learn what it is to play the deck you are trying to pilot.
    4. And finally always post your deck list.

  • Freed from the Real 160: Angels! Dragons! Rawr!   13 years 17 weeks ago

I like Wasteland ahead of Port because it is much more a staple card across multiple formats. Yeah, Waste has the promo versions, but it also still has the same price tag as Port. That is nothing short of ridiculous for an uncommon. It also has more of that iconic card quality that FTV sets like to advocate. Better for more players and formats overall IMO.

  • Mikey K Radio – Island's Are Everywhere!   13 years 17 weeks ago

I'm sorry if you both feel my videos/articles (whatever your opinion is) are not to your personal preference. I can see that this is the first time you both have checked out my stuff and I'm sure that there is the possibility that I'm wrong.

I know I can't satisfy everybody and for that I am sorry.

  • Freed from the Real 160: Angels! Dragons! Rawr!   13 years 17 weeks ago

We have already seen 2(!) promo Foil versions of wasteland. It is Port's turn to get the treatment.

  • Mikey K Radio – Island's Are Everywhere!   13 years 17 weeks ago

You need to understand that most of us watch these video articles for entertainment. I'm stuck at work, and I'm just looking for something to do in between tasks. I get that you were having a bad day, we all have them; but your constant whining during the midgame of game 3 match 2 turned me off to the point that I stopped watching entirely. That's right... I would rather get back to work, than listen to anymore of your complaining. I don't know if you won or lost, and frankly I don't care. That's not the point. I'm just not going to waste my free time to watch a grown man behave like a spoiled brat because he has an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.

Be a man and quit whining. It is unflattering, and you're better than that.

Not trying to push religion on anybody, but I really enjoy this piece of scripture because it reminds me of all the things that I don't want to be like. Maybe it'll help you too.

    2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

  • Mikey K Radio – Island's Are Everywhere!   13 years 17 weeks ago

This is a terrible article. It basically reads we net-decked a pauper list from the Daily Events ran it in the TP without knowing anything about the deck or the matchup. You didn't even run an event or discuss the deck in any detail. I understand this is a video article series but you clearly dont have a clue about the format. Oh and the few words you do include are littered with mistakes

"I don't right up and post the decklists because I explain most things and show the deck off in the deck tech" -

Firstly it is Write not Right. Secondly you dont explain most things!

"Both of us were very confused as to what this guy was trying to do". - More proof that you have no clue about the format yet you decide to "right" about it!

    "Match 2 – UR Mill???"
"I'm not sure what to say about this match".

Again what is the point of blind testing a deck in the TP and making this article!

Match 3 – Aggro Delver Blue

"Most of the time it comes down to who draws what, but this match was an exception". - Again more vague language which conveys and confirms you dont know anything about the matchup, deck you pilot or the format - which cards are important for you and your opponent. Analysis would be nice!

My final thoughts and cards to consider/highlight

"I feel I struggled to win most of my matches, do to a lack of win conditions" - again vague talk no analysis i suspect its your lack of knowledge with the deck and playstyle also it is "due to" not "do to"

This article is a MTGOTRADERS credit grab pure and simple. It adds nothing to the readers understanding of the pauper format. You clearly no less than the average modo player about the format and your writing skills are shocking. Why does Puremtgo continue to publish such utter non-sense it devalues all of the excellent content on this site!!

  • Freed from the Real 160: Angels! Dragons! Rawr!   13 years 17 weeks ago

Wasteland has to be my top pick for FTV: Realms, followed by Rishadan Port at number two. Without at least one of these the release will probably be a huge disappointment.

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

standard prices are crashing? and then you show a table with 80+% of the cards rising in price, a few even quite extreme like Sword of W&P?????

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

I like the variety of Zen lands more than the only 1 version of each Guru land.

But have you seen the paper prices? I saw 1 island going for 125!! Online I believe they are around 0.25ish.

But ZEN lands are the cheaper editions of Unhinged lands, and with no more ZEN being played, the prices of the lands have to go up since people, especially if new people join and want to play competitively, want the nice looking lands.

Unlike paper, where only people with the money can afford nice lands, I have no issue using the lands given for free from the box.

But without having to play them, and you can hold onto them, online is all about looks. I mean take Classic for example. People in classic will pay top dollar for cards if they are special in some ways since classic players have the most tickets and can use the same decks for long amounts of time.

I do think that the competitive player that is on some sort of credit limit would rather pay (and I see it hitting) 0.50 a piece for ZEN lands and save the $3 extra it would cost for the Unhinged lands.

Well I am not 100% sure on telling the age of a fish. I know you can tell the age of a tree by the rings, but fish confuse me, so sorry about the kid reference.

But overall, online, Garruk is a 4-of, while Liliana is a 2-of.

I would love to see Liliana get more play, but I don't see it happening until SOM cycles out.

Apologies. I forgot to mention the time zone, but yes it is 8pm EST. Registration typically opens around 7:30pm in channel "/join pez".

  • Peasant Classic: An Introduction   13 years 18 weeks ago

I have been making the PRE rounds, and was interested in this and Silverback events. I just generally have work when they are scheduled. I didn't realize this one was on Sunday. When you say 8 PM, is that EST? Bookmarked for decklist ideas.

I love it when people call me "kid".

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

IF people played purely for profit you might be correct. However MOST casual players could care less about profit. They play with the cards they have and enjoy them in unusual ways. Read some of our casual articles sometime to see what I am talking about.

It is precisely the wrong suggestion to tell casual players to draft instead. While I enjoy drafting some sets my first love is deck building. And then playing.

I agree of course that Snapcaster will never be a bad card but I expect him to drop just a tad more than he already has at least in the interim. At least until IID stops. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be useful for years to come and is a staple. I am not sure how much of a staple but sure 3x his current price? Sure why not?

Not sure I agree that the ISD lands are worth holding for a year if you aren't playing with them. (I am.) Are you foreseeing a value in Modern that I am missing?

Full Art Zen lands are groovy. I prefer my promo guru lands because I like the art better but Zen lands have a place. Are they worth anything now? Why will they be worth more in a year?

Hey now, Blippy the Aged is probably one of the few people I can point to and say "He's older than me!" on MTGO. He's only a kid in spirit. :D

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

Hmm not sure on your knowledge of primate sexual habits,

    "Monogamy
Ok, so if polygyny is so great then why do some end up being monogamous? It's certainly not very common:
    Birds- 90% monogamous.
    Mammals- under 5% monogamous
    Primates- 37/200=~18% monogamous.
(Traditional human societies are about 20% monogamous.)" From "Diversity of Primate Mating Systems"

13$ more than other mammals but that's still a whopping 18%. Not that I believe in bigfoot, though there is evidence of anther version of human something like Neanderthal living alongside humanity for quite some time, of course we probably murdered them all and forgot the history but retained remnants of it as legend

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

UB control is really picking up right now, and Liliana has been a staple in modern Jund. In formats bigger than standard she sees so much more play than Garruk.

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

Simply put, there are less Garruks opened, yet there are more Garruk's played overall than there are Liliana's. Garruk is played in Ramp, and all kinds of ISD block decks. He has both STD and ISD Block play.

Liliana is not played nearly as much. She doesn't even really get much play in STD. She is rarely in the U/B Zombie deck, she is not played over Karn in U/B control, and she isn't used in the mulchy deck.

In ISD Block, she was actually used more prior to DKA being released. Now her place has been taken by Sorin.

So in essence, her price is based more on novelty than actual play. And when she is played, while Garruk might be a 4-of, Liliana is a 2-of, and usually sided out.

It ain't supply and demand there kid.

  • State of the Program for March 2nd   13 years 18 weeks ago

"There is a 0.10 % chance (I believe it is around 0.13ish but not the point) of opening a Liliana, but there is only a 0.08% chance of opening up Garruk. So why the price difference since there should be less Garruks in the system than Liliana's? And Foil Garruk is even rarer."

A lot more people want Lilly, and are willing to pay the price, than Garruk. How is this not "Supply & Demand"?
