Yeah but it says "I run the maze alone," but wouldn't he rather have 2 buddy squires with him? Without his 2 squires, he is running alone and NOT fighting with the full might.

  • Is an Indestructible 7/7 for Four Mana Any Good?   12 years 10 weeks ago

Reminds me a lot of Konda, Lord of Eiganjo, because he's white, indestructible, and can grow while attacking under certain circumstances. Except he's 4 mana, not 7, and he can hit opponents for 7. Wham!

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 118   12 years 10 weeks ago

No poo-poo here. I'm actually considering taking the Wall challenge.

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 118   12 years 10 weeks ago

Regarding my Old Fogey challenge, there are at least theoretically a sufficient number of Clerics, Warriors and Goblins printed in those sets... however the numbers are very close to 20 and if any of those didn't make it online they might be just short. I never make the challenges with Singleton in mind, but I keep them up until somebody wins them or until a couple months pass without a winner, so there's plenty of opportunity to try and build a challenge-winning deck in regular tribal, underdog tribal, or "pure tribal" weeks as well. If it's impossible to do in Singleton, then nobody will win it and you can try in "pure tribal" the following week.

I've done challenges before where you had to play 4 copies of a certain card, which is obviously straight-up impossible in singleton, but I don't want to limit the scope of challenges I can propose to ensure they can be attempted in Singleton. One of my planned upcoming challenges will require using the Knight tribe, which wouldn't be allowable in Underdog events for instance.

Anyhow, don't poo-poo those Walls. 5-color Walls using the Legends "Glyph" cycle is exactly the sort of goofy old-timey crap I am hoping to see :-)

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 118   12 years 10 weeks ago

No, it doesn't. It's rounded down. Always been, as I often played 61- or 62-card decks with 20 creatures. Test for yourself if you don't trust me. :)

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 118   12 years 10 weeks ago

Actually I believe (as far as my memory goes, its been a while since I tested it) the client enforces Tribal as rounded up not down. So if you go over 60 cards by even 1 card it better be on tribal.

    Almost there. 5BB.

  • Is an Indestructible 7/7 for Four Mana Any Good?   12 years 10 weeks ago

Off the top of my head? Anti life gain drain card, 3BB, trap cost B, gain five, opponent loses five, trap trigger opponent gains life.

    Welcome!
If you click on the link that introduces the article, you'll go to the WotC forum page, and from there to both our rules page and the official Tribal Wars deck construction. I should stop linking the forum anyway, since the new central station for the tournament is this one.

All our subformats stem from the DCI Legacy Tribal Wars format (the games will all have Legacy Tribal Wars as the chosen format), so the rules enforced by the MTGO editor always apply: the deck must include at least one third (rounded down) of creatures sharing at least one type, no sideboard, Legacy pool with a few specific cards banned. Gatherling will recognize any illegality, anyway, so once you successfully reg your deck there, you're 100% sure there will be no problems.

And there's no tickets to be put on the table! Tribal Apocalypse is a PRE, and all PREs are free to enter! :)

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 118   12 years 10 weeks ago

Say I decide to participate in the Tribal Apocalypse on the 20th... Is there a link to any specific deckbuilding rules? Is it simply 20+ cards of a 60 card deck must have the same creature type? I've seen many house rules for Tribal Wars, so I'd like to know for sure before I plop some tickets on the table. Thanks! And great article as always!

Also, I think I just noticed (although I'm too lazy to prove it for sure) that it seems like the Old Fogey challenge can't be completed during a Singleton event, which this next one just happens to be. I can't find anything other than Human or Soldier that has more than 20 unique cards during that stretch of time. (Well, there are 25 unique Walls... But...)

  • How Modern is Modern? Part 2   12 years 10 weeks ago

Anchors are much simpler than hide/show scripting.

use an A tag at the top. Instead of using href="some url" type name="top" and you don't need anything between the opening and closing tags as it will be invisible to the user. So in this case type <a name="top"></a>

then when you want the browser to go to that section (this works for any go to anchor not just the top) type an a tag with href="#linkname" where linkname is the url you specified at the location. So in this example top is our location so: <a href="#top">Go to the top</a> gets you where you want to go.

Well, he does say that he "fights with the full might of the Legion". That's what battalion is about. :)

  • Is an Indestructible 7/7 for Four Mana Any Good?   12 years 10 weeks ago

His flavour text doesn't seem to make a lot of sense with battalion!

That aside, I quite like him. I don't think he's anywhere near exava, varolz or ruric on power level though.

  • How Modern is Modern? Part 2   12 years 10 weeks ago

That sounds like a good idea. If I can figure it out I'll put it into Part 3.

  • Is an Indestructible 7/7 for Four Mana Any Good?   12 years 10 weeks ago

PureMTGO's cred is growing! (Or maybe it's just because of Pete)

I was just looking back at the past preview cards we got, and for Zendikar it was Needlebite Trap. Which, indeed, who can even remember what the hell that is? :)

Champion is amazing, but I like even more another Boros preview card revealed today, Legion's Initiative. Mythic enchantments FTW.

  • How Modern is Modern? Part 2   12 years 10 weeks ago

I like the Hide/Show idea for long articles, I never thought of that. Although maybe it's even better if paired up with a back-to-the-top-anchor at the end of each section?

  • Is an Indestructible 7/7 for Four Mana Any Good?   12 years 10 weeks ago

Wow! I never thought our preview card would be actually be a Guild Champion and arguably the best one revealed so far at that.

Entertaining article and some good ideas about where Tajic might find a home.

The people of Facebook have kindly pointed out that I somehow missed Vendilion Clique from Morningtide, in a rather major oversight. I apologise as that is probably deserving of the top spot for Morningtide.

Vendilion Clique is a powerful control creature that is particularly potent against combo decks. Also as a 3/1 flyer it is a dangerous threat in a format that doesn't have a whole lot of prevalent flyers.

I apologise for the grave oversight on my part.

I think that is pretty obvious to all concerned. What may not be obvious is how to stop them. As I understand it there are some good countermeasures but they would require Jamuraa's involvement. (Or someone in his position.)

  • State of the Program for April 12th 2013   12 years 10 weeks ago

Price packs fluctuate based on availability, typically with a cap of $4.25 or so for in-print packs (and I don't think it ever gets close to that, and out of print packs vary quite wildly up to $20 a pack for some sets at times.)

With a floor of around $3.10 or so depending on how many packs are given as prizes. For all packs to drop to < $3 there would need to be no way to spend earned packs other than selling them (or the terrible sin of cracking them) and there would need to be an influx of every pack conceivable. What Enderfall suggests is purely hyperbole it seems.

On the other hand there was a noticeable drop in pack prices across the board in recent times and that is indicative of a flooding of the market with unusable packs and perhaps a lack of confidence in the pack market in general.

Thanks for featuring my deck Malum! :D

I'd just like to say that it's still being tweaked, and the sideboard has been changed quite a bit since that event. But it's a blast to play, and dueyutah hates it, so that's an extra bonus :P

(not related to the article, sorry, but there's no place for general feedback)

Something SERIOUSLY needs to be done abou the bots from this site, there's literally dozens of spam posts by them each day here. Give some more people mod powers to squash them, there's quite a few people that'd do it I'm sure.
