On Daybreak Coronet. Look at the graph from mtgGoldfish and its range: $0.1-$16.79. I love this micro-economy.
By the way, Pete, why don't you use mtgGoldfish's graphs and data? They also use MTGO Traders prices (with permission, I gather), and they say they're happy if third parties use their work as long as the site is referenced. It would spare you some boring work each week, no?
Updated the Beta. Launch. "Wait while we retrieve your decks from the server. This may take several minutes."
Several minutes? Seriously? Wow, that's going to be good when one crashes during an event and needs to come back fast. (And I've a grand total of 4 decks on that server, imagine when I'll have the 300+ I have on the current client — only, in LOCAL. Who came up with the idea of storing the decks ONLY on the server needs to be smacked on the head HARD.)
(Also great: they spent some of the original developing time on the skins, which were pretty low on priority, but okay. And now they disabled them? So I'm stuck with seeing the angry face of Gideon Hugh Jackman everywhere I go?)
The flaws of the Beta keep seeing like the product of people who don't play on MTGO much — let's not say "at all", just enough to know how it works, but that's not going to help you realize you're making BASIC mistakes. Take the buddy list, for instance. Visualized that way, and that way only, it's fine when you have a dozen buddies. Some of us, especially the ones active in the community and who host events, have HUNDREDS. Good luck sorting them now.
Thanks again for the write up. I'm very excited for their changes to make for "lesser computers" have an easier time with the v4. Maybe my laptop will be able to handle it then. :P
Apparently Romellos won my deckbuilding challenge. That means it is NOT available any longer -- though this should always be inferred from my disclaimer that "only one prize is available", so once a challenge is won it goes away. Grats Romellos! This is when I miss doing weekly content, since I would have featured any deck that wins my challenges typically.
I will have a new challenge available soon, which I will announce in next week's Diaries of the Apocalypse.
Siren isn't a new tribe: did you forget about poor Alluring Siren?
It has a good chance to become a TribAp-legal tribe by the end of Theros, though.
I'll talk about Sable in my evaluation article next week. I'm convinced it's some sort of in-joke by MaRo. I might be wrong, but I don't hold my breath for another Sable being printed anytime soon.
Lightning Strike is not a functional reprint of Incinerate. Incinerate could prevent regeneration.
Lightning Strike is a functional reprint of Searing Spear.
It was in an interesting deck played at the World Champs which was a modern take on Hexproof. Pretty good in a deck playing tons of auras apparently. Whether the deck itself is good or not is another question.
Great article Kuma and congrats with the Insect tribe. I, especially played with 3x Ground Seal for in case I face your reanimation deck. Regardless of that, Ground Seal is still good as a cantrip against any other decks.
By the way; is Rex's challenge still active, after I achieved it last week?
This is true, I'm not a big fan of Unknown Shores/Shimmering Grotto but I do think it has its uses. Its okay if you use it for just a single color mana spell that you wouldn't mind playing late and have intense color requirements that the splash basic in your opener is almost a mulligan. There are very rare situations where it's correct to play Unknown Shores, I just pointed it out for reference. Also, Opaline Unicorn does work if you want to splash.
Something of note - playing Unknown Shores to splash a color is pretty much always worse than just playing a basic of that color. The shores add 1 mana to the cost of something you use it to splash, and if it is just for the splash, a basic land would have done the same thing without the extra cost.
I just read the facebook comments - The other 4 hero's downfall in monoblack list should be Pharika's Cure. I changed the link to the cure, just forgot to change the words, sorry!
Doesn't quite work: You still need to pay the additional cost for Buyback, and it returns to your hand. So 'a token'. However, something like Call the Skybreaker also gets you a token. ;)
Off-topic: Commander previews look sexy. Jelava is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Ability on the stack, Mystical Tutor for a Lab Rats, score some free tokes, nomsayin?
This is what I said about the local vs cloud idea. Seems cool in theory. In fact it is a nightmare.

You missed that Elves moneyed in a Classic event this week. Very strange!!

Oubliette once had errata that included Phasing????! LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
(I wish there was a version of gatherer where you could look up the changes in all the cards' Oracle texts over time. That would be fascinating!)
Yup you're absolutely right. Good catch.

Totally forgot about that! And didn't hear from Rex either. Did you contact him? (I'll do now!)
Don't forget there are 2 new tribes in waiting now. Sable and Siren, each with one whole member.

Good job Kuma, you almost did it. The deck is getting there, next time for the number 1 spot :D

Good stuff Pete, sorry about your hand. Of course, I assume your salsa is good but not sure the extra ingredients caused by the cut were necessary...
I just noticed Daybreak Coronet's price. WTF??? Obviously I don't play Modern, but can someone tell me why this card is so expensive?

Too often you will die with this in hand, making it a boulder-fail - ahahah this is funny:))))
The scarecrows was a mistake. I thought the card had flying when I put them in right before the DE started. Sadly, they do not.

That is unfortunate. I am not sure what is going wrong with my recordings :( Thanks for letting me know! I may have my mic settings down to low.

Nice, I was looking for some good hookah!

Also there's this dude: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=146597&stc=1&...
So the videos have no sound as far as I can tell
