Cleva' girl..i like it i watched jurassic park last night. And sorry bout the cat. My parents have some from when i was younger and they are great animals.
My nomination of aclog is because he was the player the first resurrected Stompy in both the PE and PRE and he is still performing very well with the deck. He may not the pilot that won the last PE with the deck, but he has repeatedly taken the deck to the Top 8 of the PE.
Isn't a best of list usually generated by a tourney? A player who has ranked well isn't necessarily currently the best pilot for a deck they played ages ago. Maybe instead of just a top 8 have an invite (probably no pre for it allowed anyway because it is invite only instead of open) but you can then see who really is the best with a given deck.
I like the idea, but I think the best players should based on the best player for a particular archetype. For instance, I think Green Stompy is a top 8 archetype at this point and I would recommend aclog to run that deck.
Also, I think Blue/Black control is top 8, but the versions I have seen in the PE lately are not teachings-based.
Are you looking for the best historical archetypes, or what are the premier options now.
If you want me to include something in next week's Pauper Recap, let me know. If you want to contact me directly, message me in game and I will get you my email address.
meh the blue one is the worst one. Even with it's "abilities" Sphinx of Jwar Isle is a better finisher. Shroud beats...Miscalculation shroud? any day of the week.
So I got a win last night in my first game with the updates. I made. Took a bit of politicking to take out the uril player but it worked out. My next article is about vorosh but I will do the deck doctor after that.
PAUPER PLAYOFFS! Mike - I was in the midst of getting players together for a 'pauper playoff' of sorts...simply have a vote on the top 8 decklists, and the top 8 players that could best pilot those said decks, then have a best of 5/match to determine the "Deck of the Year" - Since puremtgo is mostly a article driven site, perhaps you know of a better way to gather votes/info ? I have 3 of the 8 figured out, covering Storm, Teachings & Goblins...I'd nominate, "Draco", "briane" and "karakusk" respectively. I'd be willing to go in on prizes too, I have some extra packs/rares to throw about if this sparks anyone else's interest..
Ack. That's my fault. The table is originally 20 x 20 decks but to fit it on the page I did a quick edit removing columns and rows for decks 17-20 (which are currently blank). Then a quick copy/paste to get everything lined up again. I'll go through and fix that. Sorry folks.
Grab the Reins
Choose one - Until end of turn, you gain control of target creature and it gains haste; or sacrifice a creature, then Grab the Reins deals damage equal to that creature's power to target creature or player.
Entwine {2}{R} (Choose both if you pay the entwine cost.)
I am not sure if Primevil Titan is worth all the hype that it is getting, but it is certainly a very strong card. It will give a huge boost to Eldrazi and Valakut ramp based decks.
Ugh if only every edh game online wasnt guranteed to have one or two net-deckers it would be a far better format. Every game there is always the typical rafiq, or Uril, or Zur, arcum decks. Its not a problem of winning or losing but rather the fact that some people are so uncreative/spikish that they just go for such known entities.
Jace 2.0 should be on the list for prices dropping! He is now at $77.50!
-Also I love how you noticed Jinxed Idol! I really hope it finds it's way to the battlefield! A fun card to play with indeed.
Also is there a reason why Lion's Eye dropped so much?
there are no sideboards which is a format rule from wizards.
You only submit decklists at the end if you qualify for prizes.
3 hours is normally more than enough.
I'm looking to start playing some PRE's and would like to try out this format. I had a few questions:
Do you run sideboards? I assumed yes but seemed odd there were none in the decklists.
Do I have to submit a decklist in advance or during the registration?
This Saturday I have an early hockey game and must leave by no later than 4. Three hours should be adequate time for the three rounds?

Back to the future FTW! The references alone got you to a 3 for this article. It seems a bit lacking though compared to the comedic LOL's I usually get from reading your articles. It is concise and to the point about the deck, but I guess the boringness of the article stems from how boring this deck is to play against....
/end Troll
!!!I hated play testing this deck with you! You took minutes from my life that I will never get back with those damn combos!
Awesome breakdown, really looking forward to these every week. Pauper has to be the healthiest format out there...every other week, players want different cards banned - says a lot about wizards overall strategy that an all-common batch can be this even handed and strong. Thanks for giving reload a mention btw, I'll be attempting to give it another go this time tomorrow...Sat 8am PST everyone!
Aurochs / Inversion is a nice option, but I don't think I have ever seen that in a Tortured Existence deck. That might be a fun mash-up of decks to play around with - thanks for the idea.
Yeah if you cant get the bloodthrone vampires the deck tends to be pretty lackluster!
And yeah, it's another month before M11 comes out -- but honestly this is one of the most fun draft formats ever in my opinion and generally core set drafts are mediocre at best. I can see a lot of people sticking to rise until scars comes out.
I dunno about that Derranged Hermit >> Squirrel's Nest imho. Particularly in the standard it was in, facing ponza and other land destruction decks. Yavimaya Elder was also key in that deck if I recall correctly. Helped get over the 5cmc hump.
==EDIT== For some reason I translated Angry Hermit into the Squirrel Position deck above which is just inferior imho to either.
Looking at a deck list from that time in an article by BDM on Aaron F's version I realized that this deck was not Squirrel Prison at all, but a ponza deck with added hermits and masticores.
I vaguely remember that deck or a similar one played at Neutral Ground but I still stand by the notion that Mikey P's Squirrel Prison was just better for its time. I had no problems running that deck to a first place finish at a Grudge Match Qualifier at Neutral Ground and afterward did well in other local tourneys with it.
as a sidenote PT amsterdam hasnt happened yet, the second list was probably from a ptq or something.

all titans will be strong in EDH.
and the blue one looks like an interesting control finisher.
i don't like the deck idea, but the article is good, and the new picture of yours is simply awesome :D

It will do well in other formats as well. It will almost certainly have an effect in EDH for example.
I though it targeted but never checked whether or not the other guy was right. He may be thinking of Reins of Power.

LED would be expected to fall as the Mystical Tutor ban in legacy makes Ad Nauseum + Tendrils combo significantly weaker.
