    Hey Jake, I would have +2'd Jace to give yourself 3 shots at Doom Blade(Sphinx) instead of 1. Relatedly, I would be more cautious about telling people they robbed you.

  • My Gencon Experience!   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Can't say I have seen it in The Village either, might be as I'm not on every single part every minute of the day, but it is rare. And even though I am sure it happens in some spots it doesn't really occur from what I have seen outside in public view and I'm there on a daily basis.

  • My Gencon Experience!   13 years 48 weeks ago

    lol we had a guy on campus that had two girls on leashes last semester..they also wore cat ears. This was also an everyday thing.

  • My Gencon Experience!   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Graig how long ago? Also on High street right in the middle of campus did u ever visit the Chamber and/or Garden?

    Also there is a bar that's had several locations through out the years called "Outland" That's currently on Liberty street. That has a BDSM group that preforms there at least once every weekend.

    Once again as per my original comment. It's all about the social circles you run in.

    I can almost promise you hands down that the girl had flat out given explicit permission to be leashed.

    Also in BDSM there is MUCH more about respect then what the general public would ever believe between a "slave"(submissive) and "master"(dominate)if done properly.

    In fact in a properly run sub/dom it's really the Sub who calls all the shots while the Dom just weaves the illusion for the sub within the prearranged and agreed to set of rules for their relationship. Unlike common belief these relationships need not be personal or sexual in nature at all, and may vary just as widely as ice cream can in flavors.

    I'll be honest it's unfortunate that there are truly abusive people in all walks of life and as such this is no exception.

    BDSM by nature its is not about beating the tar out of the person next to you.
    Even if it may be precieved that way to the common person, It's just another lifestyle that just takes a bit more to understand due to the radically different nature from the generally accepted right and wrong perceptions of the general populace.

    I'll say that I've never personally felt the need to collar and leash someone, but never felt the need to look down at someone due to it because of my understanding that it is just another part of the sub-culture.

    Hopefully I've given at least a slight bit more insight into the matter and maybe gave some of my understanding to go with it.

  • My Gencon Experience!   13 years 48 weeks ago

    It's not cosplay its an adult lifestyle choice. just check the wiki link i provided it'll give a little more ingo on the matter of pratice refereed to as "collaring".

    I really appreciate the feedback, as always.

    I will try to answer all here:

    @craigmcdermott
    I appreciate you stopping by to check out the vids. I am going to make a CONCERTED effort to stop the mouse twiddling... my ADHD does get the best of me... I need to get it down

    @BOBBKAKE
    Luck?

    @montolio
    I will never pass a Satchel again - unless the pack has a fireball or something worth $ in foil. The card is redonkubonkers. Thanks for dropping by bro :D

    @eldarock
    Thanks for the support bud. I would love to get some ROE in soon!

    @thisismich
    See my first reply. Especially for you I will try to disable zooming, SOMEHOW... along with twiddling between them. I had no idea I was actually causing you physical pain through the vids! & your draft sounds epic - that is a REAL $ draft!

    Thanks again all for coming by, next week will be betta!!!

    I personally hate the ban list, I wanted to see cards come off, not cards be put on. Formats are boring because of the lack of options, not when you strip all the powerful cards out of them - we call that limited, and there is plenty of it.

    Right now there are 4 major formats that are low-powered, if that is your thing. Block Constructed, Standard, Limited and Pauper. Powerful formats that are actually widely played are just Legacy, and that is experiencing a crisis because there are not enough cards for all the people that want to play.

    I think most people agree with Hypergensis, a card everyone thought should have been banned in the first place. Glimpse of nature is basically just Elf-Combo, another uninteractive really fast combo deck, and another card people wanted banned originally, doubly so with mental misstep banned.

    Sensei's Top being banned is annoying, especially since the problem doesn't exist online, but understandable.

    I personally wanted to see one half of Sword/Depths unbanned, just to test the waters. I wanted to see the artifact lands unbanned for the same reason, and maybe ban Cranial and Disciple, since they are only ever used in one deck that will be fine without them.

    Every other banned card I vehemently disagree with, especially the new ones not discussed above. Some of them, like Ancestral Visions and Valakut, don't even make sense. These cards existed in Extended and were not absolutely dominating.

    This banned list is absurd, prohibiting Misstep but leaving in Aether Vial isn't even funny.

    Historically, in my magical career anyway, I was never much of a limited player. My recent conversion from paper to digital has sparked this interest in me. I am having fun, but I can't win one of these to save my own life.

    I hope that I can make some videos and that some of you "limited sharks" around here can tell me where I am going wrong.

    I also have to work with the article formatting too, otherwise Mr. Claytor will never let my vids see the light of day here...which is my hold up.

    Awesome article, as always.

  • Drafting With a Hick - UB in M12   13 years 48 weeks ago

    The money draft was AMAZING. It reminds me of a draft I have unfortunately lost the replay for, so I won't blame you if you don't believe me here: it was a MVW draft, first pack I was PASSED a LED 2nd pick, I opened a Vampiric Tutor and was passed again a Null Rod 2nd pick o_O'

    Well, I didn't watch the videos because I get motion sickness when you switch frantically from land to land (not joking) but congrats anyway.

    I always look forward to Fridays for this article... another great one.

  • M12 #1 and #2   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Thank you guys for the comments :)
    Yeah, I have to agree on the illusions, except for the bears and maybe the clone (which I didn't play with yet).

    I really love this format, even if it's easier (at least for me) than SOM, and it's also very aggressive and I definitely love being aggro :D

  • Drafting With a Hick - UB in M12   13 years 48 weeks ago

    dude that money draft was amazing since my temp draft i have not seen anything that good, played some great games with what you had. ROE was pretty damn fun i remember i did the release of ROE and it was hella fun but can be some crazy games, only thing is good luck getting it to fire off not a lot of love for any of the ZEN drafts, i love all the ZEN drafts but i rarely ever get them to fire off. Great work M8

    The best affinity decks played vial I believe.

  • State of the Program for August 12th   13 years 48 weeks ago

    You should include Mutavault in one of the price watch lists (Modern) too.

  • Friday Thoughts #3   13 years 48 weeks ago

    "With it's banning there is no way to counter Aether Vial while on the draw, and while there are plenty of ways to deal with Vial, I remember a Standard format that was hamstrung by the card even with plenty of ways to deal with it."

    Are you sure? I only remember that card in pre-Darksteel Affinity so it could get out Disciples and Atogs, and when Ravager and Skullclamp came out, everyone took out the vial. What decks were you referring to?

  • State of the Program for August 12th   13 years 48 weeks ago

    double post

  • State of the Program for August 12th   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Just to rate this. Thanks for keeping this series up!

  • State of the Program for August 12th   13 years 48 weeks ago

    You should include Vendilion Clique in one of the price watch lists. Otherwise, good stuff as always.

  • State of the Program for August 12th   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Zen fetches and Rav duals are going to go further up, because Zoo needs a LOT of them and I don't see how it is not going to be a top tier deck (if not THE top tier deck).

    Tarmogoyf has to go up. It was already the best creature by miles, but now there is no longer competition for control decks. Blue control is practically forced to play them to compete I think.

    I want to respond to your 10 thoughts of the week:

    1. Magic lingo is the nut-low, stone-worst. :)
    2. All of electronica is overrated, especially dubstep.
    3. I wouldn't know. Seems like a valuable service...
    4. I have been beaten by Dungrove Elders a few times in the past week. I am under the impression that Hexproof could reintroduce a need for Day of Judgment in Control MDs. Green has fun toys these days.
    5. Knutson is very funny. I read his blog. It is usually a good and entertaining read.
    6. Who?
    7. I really hope Osyp doesn't become another Steve OMS.
    8. Insurance is a scam.
    9. The deck is good. AND it doesn't seem to have a good answer for Mill itself, outside counter magic.
    10. I agree.

    I wonder how the Modern announcement will affect prices

  • M12 #1 and #2   13 years 48 weeks ago

    I'm with apaulogy here, Illusions are mostly a trap. :)
    I'm loving the format as there are a lot of viable decks in almost any color combination: I've just drafted a BG deck this morning with black removal and flyers and went 2-1. Drifting Shade is awesome.

    Nice writeup, I also liked the pick comments on raredraft.

  • M12 #1 and #2   13 years 48 weeks ago

    Barring sick opens and wheels, the Illusion guys are mostly a trap.

    Good run the second draft. I managed to 2-1 last night, even though I rare drafted a garruk (had to).

    I am just still trying to figure this format out. It is really aggressive.

    GJ, man.

    East Village/West Village more often perhaps? Obviously you won't see it on 5th Ave or down on Wall st. :)
