I should say I probably wont buy the ftv package (though who knows?) but probably will save tix for some of the lands I don't have four of. Grats AJ on mongers I knew you would.
Not sure why people would be upset with Zac Hill. He never did anything that I know of to upset me. Sounds like he has a better paying gig now though. More power to him.
Thanks Chris (and Ranth too!) I agree with you about Gatherling. Blippy's been filling me in on its greatness for a while now. Im expecting even greater things now. :D
Can't say enough good things about Gatherling, was very happy to get set up on the site for the Heirloom events while I was still hosting. Makes meta game analyses so much easier and makes it so much easier for new players to the format to find deck lists and know what they will be facing ahead of time.
Thank you to all the people that made Gatherling and continue to improve its functionality! It great that the pairing system is right in the web site now, makes life for PRE hosts much easier.
Congrats on your upcoming 29th anniversary of sobriety Paul! That is quite an achievement :)

The first event for the Rav block Heirloom format is this Sat Sep first with th same bot credit prizes minus the exta hammybot card prizes. Good event to figure out the metagame.
Gatherling is the best thing to happen for PRE's on magic online since the actual PRE's were originally organized and populated. The site is a pleasure to use. It is very slick and professional. Not what you would expect for the niche of PRE organization on MTGO. Great to see an article pointing out to people MTGO's best underknown resource.
Of course MTGOtraders and other card vendors do a lot by providing generous prize support for free events and I think they deserve great praise for doing so.
Heirloom's price caps changed a little while back giving people access to a slightly larger card pool. It's now cards that cost $0.10 or less for commons $0.20 for uncommons $0.40 or less for rares and still a cap at $1.00 for mythics. As has been the norm for a long long time the legal card list is a static list with a handful of banning (like hypergenesis) that is updated fairly often. Legality can be checked quickly here by card search or deck upload. http://jpdefault.comuv.com/heirloom/
The latest update to the ToCs say that streams are ok provided they "ARE NOT COMMERCIALLY SOLD OR DISTRIBUTED". It'd be a pretty strained reading of that phrase to say that advertising amounts to commercilly selling or distributing - I'm pretty sure it's fine. They don't say you can't make money off them, they just say you can't actually sell them.
Slightly off-topic, but do you know if running ads on youtube videos featuring MTGO breaks the code of conduct? You'd be making profit off videos of their game so I'm not sure.
Dont sweat it you had every right to play the round out. I;m sorry that well being ended up affecting my attitude. I would like to think that usually I'm not as obnoxious and hot headed as I was that night. In-fact getting knocked out of top8 ended up being likely a good thing for me and here's why.
At 6:30am Centeral time Saturday morning I ended up being rushed to the Hospital for a Migraine that I had been having build up for the past few days due to eye strain of working on, and playing on, my laptop constantly.
This strain ended up causing swelling in my eyes/optic nerves/ect and then somehow I also ended up getting sinus pressure as well which caused a perfect storm.
Long story put short 7 hours in the ER ,A Doctor determined to prove that this random thin white guy must be on drugs (more to that story i'm sure), seizures in the CAT scan, 4 shots of morphine (this stuff is supposed to make people loopy?) and almost 4 days on the floor in pitch black bathroom to recover enough to see anything again is more then enough to make me thankful That i dodged any permenant damage which might have happened had my eyes sustained any more strain from further play that might.
So seriously, you are entitled to play your matches, I'm glad you had fun and hope to see you around more often! :)
I found the world of PREs because of an Olaw article in here about Heirloom Events, and because of that found the Gatherling (until that day only knew the pdc events).
Since then im having a lot of fun playing events like Dragonfight, both Heirloom events, silverblack i only played once because of the time of the event, and the 1st modern birthday.
Im still trying to play a eurodrive, but i always come late because its lunch time in here.
Modern's First was my first modern tournment online (i usually only play modern with paper cards), and it was really fun. 6 rounds every round a different deck and a competitive match, in T2 that is just impossible to happen :(
Here in Europe the event was all night long for me was until 8/9 a.m of Saturday(the 6 rounds/9th), so i did a lot of mistakes because i was so tired, but playing in this event worth it.
Unfortunately I did not realized that there was the possibility of draws, and then played the last round taking the opponent's last round (Ranth) of top8 because i had good standings :( Sorry for that Ranth.
Next time i have to read the rules, when im not tired :p
Excellent as always. I really look forward to these.
I have to say, I believe your Play/Draw charts however could use some refinement. They are very, very confusing.
I think the second row is saying that, regardless of who chooses, whoever plays wins 57% and whoever draws wins 42%. But then the third row says that "whoever chooses to play" wins only 46% of the time. Huh? I guess that's averaged across all 3 games, though it doesn't mention that? And then the fifth row is "CTP g1", which seems to me pretty similar to rows 2, yet obviously there's some difference. Is everything in this actually a "win percentage" as it's labeled, or are some of these "percent that choose to play vs. draw"? But if that's the case, why have separate entries for ctp and ctd?
Why do you cite figures of 52% and 39% as being the most important, when they aren't in the chart at all? Where do you derive them from? Shouldn't we have had a chart that included them if they are the key pieces of data? Do we need to see all of this confusing data if it's not important?
I tried to follow the logic here and can't. I know it's your first attempt at one of these charts, and that's fine. But if you do include them in the future, please focus on important stats and provide more detailed explanations for what each row is supposed to represent. Thanks!
It's about a year since my own selloff/rebuild: It can be challenging, but that challenge is its own reward. It can be irksome when needed cards go substantially over that budget, though.
I do enjoy the videos, especially when they are live and not a recording of the replay. However, I also like text analysis. A mixture of both would be fantastic for this reader.
And perhaps a bit of a volume decrease on the "free lightning bolts" ;) Just kidding there. Thanks for the look at your matches. I couldn't play this time around, so I'm living vicariously.
I kept wanting to join up for this but forgetting. Glad to see you having fun with it Keya.

Excellent information, thanks for all your hard work on this.
You may be the first person ever to draft 2 wolves in M13 and actually have them in play at the same time.
Thanks for posting Rick.
Thanks for posting these for us Mikey K.
Glad y'all enjoyed it. I will try and do some more text breakdowns to accompany the videos.
I agree all around....well maybe not on the "free bolts" as I didn't notice the sound levels.
Much appreciated.
