Against RDW, I think taking Honor of the Pure out is a bad idea. Even without knowing about Sulfur Elemental, you saw multiple Mogg Fanatics, and Honor just shut those guys off. Plus, they make your clock almost twice as fast most times.
I just wanted to leave you a comment that I really enjoyed your pick by pick break down. I drafted RTR for the first time the other night and went white blue without any knowledge of the cards. I ended up going 2-1 losing to a white green deck that was populating all over the place one round.
2.5-3.5 price range for shocklands are reasonable in the midterm. But it's just a matter of how patience you are. You can currently buy Steam vents for 3, Temple garden & Blood Crypt for 4-4.5 in casuals. Also Mtgo Traders prices are decreasing to these levels time to time. Overgrown Tomb is still high due to current meta but it may change in the upcoming days.
We all know that Wizards would rather publish the satanic verses printed on pages torn from the Koran before they'd ever publish documentation or a user manual for MTGO. Version 4 is coming out soonish. I'd love to see someone write a comprehensive user manual that contains all of the little "tricks" to the program, like what the F-keys do or how to change various settings to make it more useful or how to minimize the number of clicks to combo off, or how to get into games/tournaments for a new user, or how MTGO rules differ from paper (match time, etc). Is anybody interested in writing this article?
Positive or negative, I'm glad people are reading and offering me feedback. I will take the steps to constantly improve these articles so everyone can benefit from these. And thanks Dr. Anime for your kind words
I mentioned thragtusks to you when they were still in the $5 range. I picked up a stack of them myself when they were $4, my only digital investment ever. It's paying off nicely!
And no I didn't mean just the one for legacy. Why bother making a sensible ban list when we can ban Moat? Another relatively easy to deal with card. Imho the format is what it is despite the efforts to make it more palatable to those who hate certain strategies.
I'll be the first to tell ya that i wouldn't have the decks that i do if it wasn't for getting most of my manabase(s) while the cards are/where cheap. I highly suggest keeping an eye on the Shock lands that are in the RTR as they will likely all go under 4-5 at some point.
I was joking :) no worries Swords is OP but each and every color has its OP card. counter spell in and of itself is OP Ect.
cards should only be banned for one or two reasons either they completely warp the format or they have such a detrimental effect that it pushes people away from playing.
if everyone who played a PRE of any sort completely boycotted over one card then that is something to consider.
a good example of this is sensei's divining top in paper this card considerable slows down the game and causes issues of slow play, Online we have a clock so this issue is mute.
Not Joking yes I get frustrated with legacy I think we all do at one point or another which is why I am glad for special events on the beginning of the month. Do I want legacy to warp to fit my needs no that would just be silly :)
would i like to see tribal through other format eyes like pauper(banning goblins and faeries) or modern yes, but not for every week.
my only complain about legacy as a format is cost to play but heck that is why we have combos to begin with and if everything was free then I doubt it would be as much fun.
Paul, banning Swords to Plowshares would equal to ban Lightning Bolt, Unsummon, or, you know, Forest. :) It's so NOT in the realm of possibilities that I'm afraid we're causing a paradox by only entertaining the idea.
Btw, the WotC Banned list for Tribal Wars is arguably the worst in the history of banned lists -- but you maybe meant the one for Legacy?
I 100% disagree with you about the white exilers. Without them certain strategies would be supreme, unafraid of anything and hardly impaired at all by other removal. I mean you might as well rail against the plenitude of sweepers in the format or the many creatures who can exile/destroy or reduce toughness (assassins for example.)
The fact is that Legacy itself is an unfair overpowered format with not a lot of fun factor to it. That said people can still enjoy it and have fun. In fact TWL while being broken and even more op because of the lack of sideboards has all the potential to be twice as fun as any other format because of all the convolutions people have to go through to find a deck that wins consistently.
Sure I hate to see my pet creature plowed as soon as it is advantageous for my opponent but the Timmy side of me is placated by the ability to play stuff to prevent that while bringing in my big guns. Or by merely not caring.
Case in point vs a typical AJ deck (8 exilers, 4-8 sweepers and creatures that can kill too) I still manage a decent win rate if my deck isn't just a pile. Sure it sucks to face stp every time I see a plains but thats the same thing really as knowing my mountain weilding opponents are going to drop turn 1-3 goblins and finish with a bolt. Etc.
Bottomline: Very few cards should be considered for banning that aren't already on the WOTC banned list. It is too easy to take something out that is keeping a hidden balance by preventing one deck type from ruling the roost so to speak.
There are ways to beat control white and there are ways to beat goblins and elves and pretty much every thing other than turn 1-2 wins. Pick your Rock, Paper or Machinegun and have at it.
It looks like he bought these about a week ago based on the prices he paid... Still a big drop though!
Rotating blocks typically go down for a month, hit their floor, than bounce back "a little" (same applies to newly drafted old sets except replace "a little" with "a lot")... So it should bounce back "some"... Not sure $5+ "some" though...
Hopefully infect becomes a bigger thing in modern than it is... I understand it's played in decks other than infect decks, but not enough to push it's price up...
I noticed that after re-watching the video. I didn't think you had some kind of counter magic, but it makes sense.
@rick: Your probably right about that to be honest. It might be fine to take 1 honor of the pure out, but testing will tell.

Still pretty entertaining to watch, though.

Peter!!! :D
The reason was: I was trying to bait a path to exile with the Exarch and I was saving up so I had mana for counter magic.

MULTIBALL!!!!
Hi sir, great article as usual.
I have a suggestion for a future article.
We all know that Wizards would rather publish the satanic verses printed on pages torn from the Koran before they'd ever publish documentation or a user manual for MTGO. I know I fully expect to see alot of them hit 2.5-3.5 but didnt wanna say it this early and try to defend myself from the masses saying im crazy :p
I'd love to do this but I suspect I will be unavailable. :/ Grats on getting this going though. Blippy the Grand Poobah.
RTR shocklands can already be had for 5 and under.
Thanks!
As for the ringtone, what can I say. You could say the Smashing Pumpkins are the reason why I became a fan of rock music in the first place. :)
Positive or negative, I'm glad people are reading and offering me feedback. I will take the steps to constantly improve these articles so everyone can benefit from these. And thanks Dr. Anime for your kind words

Hopefully at some point before October 2014. :)
(And I want Rob Alexander's art, not Some Guy's art!)
Yes. My Point.

i recently found out the hardway that the banned list for legacy bleeds over into Tribal as well when i tried to add hermit druid to a deck :(
@Malum....I hope you are joking. I know I was O.o

swords is simply OP so is Path to exile but I don't see anything being done about it in the near future
another card i would like to see is Bitter blossom.
If i recall swords to plowshare has an insane win rate as well :)
Oh and stifle too :p
