usually avoided by those who I regularly play with, too many questions about where they'd fall. These rules are not set in stone by any means but are how I learned to play. I will say all artifact choices in the category artifact should be colorless
What about coloured artifacts? I think you've avoided them in your decks, but what about e.g. court homunculus... can it be your 1cc artifact, or does it have to be your 1cc white spell, or do the coloured spells have to not be artifacts?
It's all coming together...this one is a bit older though. Not sure why Kuma didn't just do a new one with updated info and add in the next installment, though I guess that would have messed up some links.
Great Article. In depth, made the format seem fun AND was really informative, exactly what these articles should be, bravo sir!
This format used to be fairly heavily played back in the v2.5 days, but I never see anyone playing it much anymore. Would love to find more games.
I will say though, I think the version of the format that uses 10x Duals plus 3x of each basic land is much more fun, because the duals greatly reduce the risk of color screw (which is really common in this format otherwise) which makes games a lot less random than with only basics--and to me, games are a lot more fun when both decks get to run their gameplans rather than one deck randomly getting screwed through no fault of its own. I know that not everyone can afford 10 dual lands (thats like $250 nowadays), but the invasion taplands are dirt cheap, and the Guildgates can easily be used in their place, and using CIP tapped lands vs. "real" duals is no as muh of a setback as you might think due to the even distribution of casting costs in the decks.
fyi everyone the top graphic isn't wrong, it may look like rainbowstarwell, but it's stairwell... the i in bewteen the a and r is there, just white and looks like a space.. missed coloring due to exhaustion
If it's any consolation, I think the overall card quality in your pool was pretty low for this format. I know that sounds silly with a Vraska and an Angel of Serenity in there, but with 12 packs to be opened between 3 players you will often be facing teams with 3 playable rares in each of their decks, not counting foils. I have seen decks with a Jace and double Supreme Verdict in that format, and of course that deck has the team's Inspirations also. At that point, you're practically playing constructed
If the Tainted Strike didn't fizzle your assumption about it not being infect damage is wrong. The rats damage unresolved on the stack is turned to infect damage since it resolves after the tainted Strike.
I played Izzet in the prerelease with three of the five underrated cards you listed here- and a foil Pursuit which goes great in my Tibor and Lumia Commander deck. They didn't really help, though, as there weren't enough relevant beaters in the early game for me. :p
Seeds of Innocence and Pithing Needle make your deck sad, right?. At least your list doesn't play Berserk and kill me. :( Myr Retriever-Junk Diver lock doesn't circumvent Berserk. :(
Yeah there is a thread about it on the mothership. They made a decision to cut down to 1 daily per format because they were afraid that the information being given was not allowing for a rich enough metagame. A lot of people disagree with this notion, however, so I am hoping they decide eventually to reverse this decision.
Though the Crypt Rats themselves have died, the damage goes on the stack with the knowledge that it is infect damage not merely normal damage. That is where LKI gets involved.
Sorry! I just checked and you are correct. I wasn't a hundred percent sure on that when I wrote it. I just figured that if you can't play Searing Blaze without a valid creature target then it would be countered without a valid creature target.
Thanks for pointing out this error and thanks for reading!

And again great article.
So I guess maybe next -pedia should be a Dragonpedia? What do you think? Or maybe there was one and I'm missing something?
Amazing article. I'll have to forward it to my buddy that loves angels.

This is specially true for foil mythics. Even crap mythics won't cost less than 5 tix because they're ultra-rare and are needed to redeem foil sets.
Yeah I see it but I think its better as Starwell :D

Im reading it as that other people will not know how to play it correctly in individual cases. So they don't understand why it is good.
Maybe I misread your take on Stab Wound, but basically it adds up to, "Stab Wound is overrated
because I don't know how to play it right."

Wouldn't have it any other way, Ranth. Consider it Brought. ;)

Love ya AJ but Bring it :) I'll be waiting for ya.

Yeah but it wasn't infect damage when it was put on the stack... CR had infect, but not when the ability was activated nor when it resolved..
The written drafts are awesome, they let me read it at work, where I can't listen to the videos :P, keep'em up.

Thanks for searching that up for me.
Looks like a pretty sweet list. Would love to try it out some time though it looks a little out of my price range at the moment.
Anyone knows anything why Wizards has only been publishing 1 daily per day in the decklists?
There's a 3-1 list in this event
