    I love the motivational posters.

How do you do a print screen and where does it save? I have tried multiple times to do a print screen and can not find it if it did work.

I have to say a good article. Congrats on 600.

To help with the sociability (A word?) online, wizards could include a VoIP feature which a lot of other games are adapting. If the option was thier I would make it mandatory that people connect and join in the chat while playing. I also think it would cut down on some of the non social aspects people partake in sicne we are not face to face like a paper game.

  • Milestones and Cake Recipes   14 years 23 weeks ago

Yeah it seems so easy to me because I am adapted to computer usage but I know some people never quite integrate. Then add in socialization. ;) But to be serious the mtg pants population isn't all that socially adept either. Not to say there aren't skilled talkers amongst us but they tend to be very visible vs the crowds who say nothing at all during a match or mutter a lot and avoid eye contact.

  • Milestones and Cake Recipes   14 years 23 weeks ago

I also doubt that Online Multiplayer will ever be like its Paper counterpart, no matter what WOTC does. There are just waaaaaaaaaaay too many people who don't have the skill to type, i.e. talk, while playing. Some people find this hard enough in real life, where all it pretty much involves is drawing a card, dropping a land, and saying go, while keeping the conversation going. Add a keyboard and mouse, and some people just never recover.

Tournament pack + 3 Booster packs = 6 Booster packs.

Great look back at the history of MTGO, I started playing online during the Kamigawa block too, and I still remember all these things vividly!

Alt + u untaps lands, if no abillity/spell/effect has gone on the stack since it got tapped (the first alt+u untaps the last land tapped, the second untaps the the second last tapped and so on). It is quite useful if you missclick on the color you want the land to tap for.

  • Milestones and Cake Recipes   14 years 23 weeks ago

I've been playing for a while... But... what does Alt-U do?

uhmm....... you missed the boat sir. they were rediculos about a year b4 ext rotated. but i guess a legacy mocs would be the best reason to sell now. i mean 1-2 weeks before the event theres an extra couple of hundred people who suddenly need 4.
then itll drop a day after the event.

  • The Underdecks - 1 : Run to the Mill!   14 years 23 weeks ago

Well, I imagined you were trying to build a better mill in pauper. :)

Unfortunately the current Standard is extremely fast, with Boros Landfall capable of turn-3 9 damage swings (Turn1 Adventuning Gear, turn 2 Plated Geopode, turn 3 Equip action + Terramorphic Expanse = 9/9 first striker attack, possibly backed up by a Lightning Bolt).

I choose the 3-color ally strategy mainly because without a way to tutor up the Excavator and answer to the opponent's threats consistently, milling actually became extremely difficult. The rest of the allies can build up a strong position if left unanswered and can actually win by overrun. Let's say milling is just the finishing touch of that deck.

I haven't tried metalcraft yet, and the current standard pauper meta is almost without a single metalcraft deck. Maybe I'll talk about it in the next article. ;)

  • The Underdecks - 1 : Run to the Mill!   14 years 23 weeks ago

    >Just what /are/ you trying to say in that opening sentence/paragraph?

You need to read also the article summary. ;)

"...Because Boros Landfall is boring." and then "No, it isn't true."

  • The Underdecks - 1 : Run to the Mill!   14 years 23 weeks ago

To be strictly correct, there is no such thing. The lose condition is failing to draw a card when instructed, ie, from an empty library. The milling is probably the proximate cause, but death is due to drawing from an empty library. Also, to be strictly correct, it isn't a win condition: you as a mill player only win by default because your opponent/s has/have lost the game.

Also, I hate to be picky, but that's a terrible opening sentence. The "it" that "isn't true" isn't properly introduced until sentence three. That's even assuming that it even /is/ introduced there, but I have my doubts even on that point. Just what /are/ you trying to say in that opening sentence/paragraph?

  • State of the Program - January 14th 2011   14 years 23 weeks ago

No, but at least it's viable again. Also, since people expect a surge in Counterbalance decks, that would spell a surge in Merfolk decks, and Merfolk gets stomped by Zoo. I guess it completes a circle.

  • The Underdecks - 1 : Run to the Mill!   14 years 23 weeks ago

I'm glad you took it as constructive criticism. It's just something I know a little something about, having played pauper mill a fair amount, and I was hoping for some more insight. I'd like to see Screeching Silclaw used, and I have a feeling that in Standard pauper you might have the time to make it work; classic is just too fast I think.

A quick search of gatherer is making me think that there is very little draw or tutoring available in Standard pauper right now; I hadn't looked at it since the SoM rotation. The only other candidates for a mill deck I turned up are Reckless Scholar and Scroll Thief, which seem like a must-haves for a Jace's Erasure deck. You might be able to make a UB Jace's Erasure deck fly in Standard, using black for removal, Sign in Blood, Moriok Replica, and nihil spell-bomb.

Since I couldn't find any way in Standard to tutor up the excavator, it seems like the ally route will not reliably mill them to death. On the other hand, maybe standard is slow enough that you have time to dig for them.

If you experiment with Screeching Silclaw, then look into using Stonework Puma and Glint Hawk. The Puma will help you hit Metalcraft, and you can bounce it with the Hawk and retrigger the Excavator/Cleric/Raptor etc.

Depends on how bad you want tickets. The price will come back down, but Goyf is a good card to just have. It's always useful.

  • State of the Program - January 14th 2011   14 years 23 weeks ago

Man, I wonder when (or if) I should sell my playset. I picked them up for 3 tix a piece back when FUT first came out.

  • Freed from the Real #101: A return to the norm   14 years 23 weeks ago

I am not sure I agree with your comments encouraging people to buy extra dual lands. Personally, I love that the prices on them has tanked. I can now afford to buy them. If people follow your advice and just start buying them with the hopes that they will go back up in price later (also known as speculation) it can lead to artificially high prices in the market. I don't mean to start the whole speculation vs hoarding argument again, but it really did sound like that is what you were advising people to do.

  • State of the Program - January 14th 2011   14 years 23 weeks ago

Is zoo really that dominant without combo to keep it in check?

  • State of the Program - January 14th 2011   14 years 23 weeks ago

Right right, sorry, I tend to forget about decks that don't have Islands in them XD

  • State of the Program - January 14th 2011   14 years 23 weeks ago

I imagine that with a) Survival getting the axe and b) MED4 "revitalizing" Legacy, we'll see a nice chunk of *Zoo*, *Zoo* and *Zoo* decks popping up again, all of which use the Goyf.

    :)
