It should be a lot of fun I'm sure. Looking at the card pool with hybrid cards there's more than a few ways to put together a "mono colored" deck that look pretty fast. It will be interesting to see what becomes the most successful.
Yes. Mask should drop heavily as well. If you want a fair comparison, look at Tempest block commons, such as Diabolical Edict and Mogg Raider. Pauper prices are volatile, however, and the prices are still down from no Daily Events
You're born December 25? :)
My father too (he even got the traditional, stupid Italian middle name out of it, "Natalino". Natale = Christmas).
And he confirms that it sucks.
Very informative article about the format. I for one am very excited about the new K-Scope Heirloom, I really enjoyed the format back when Blippy used to host Friday Night K-Scope, will be interesting to see what all brews show up for the first event. Thanks for the great article Xaos :)
Buy Accumulated Knowledge on the 26th. They are dropping like stones right now as Mercadian Masques is being drafted. They will drop more than 50-60% at least
I don't. It is a fatal flaw that I grew into Classic Rock as my music of choice growing up even though I am from the Boogie down. I know rappers but I just don't get out that much. Now get off my lawn! :p

Yes, I am one of those who you played against and came to look for the list and check out the article. I like the article very good on sideboarding principle points. Look forward for more back to the drawing board articles because this is where I find myself often :)

Thats the problem with the classifieds and trade rooms right now. It used to be a lot of people would be online trading just to pass the time and for mutual benefit. Sometimes you would have an uncommon that retails high but sells low or not at all and you wanted to get some even value by trading for a rare of about the same value. Or you wanted to trade away something of value but not often bought by bots.
Bots will always have a highly valuable service to offer but at this point having to look through 100 bot ads to find one real person (probably an understatement) stifles out the casual traders. Thats why a filter is important. If you enjoy trading which I used to you might log on just to trade and then be inspired to build a casual deck with what you happened to find or make new friends (which I used to in this manner). Now you might just not log on at all. That's not good for the community or the bots.
Filters allow for a more satisfying experience for the variety of desires people find themselves having at various times. Satisfying experiences bring people back to the program and that's good for the community and the bot companies and WOTC. Its shortsighted to neglect any substantial portion of the playerbase with poor programming or making a conscious choice to snub casual trading for a perceived benefit to some party or parties that doesn't exist.
As far as trading goes, most of the time I just use the bots. It's more convenient, faster, and I tend to buy and sell from them, so the credit stored there is nice. The only time I trade with a person is when I'm trying to get max value out of my cards, or the bots are out of a certain card/pack.
Just starting to return to Magic after a brief (~9 month) hiatus. Decided to check out your video and put my "thinking cap" back on. Below are the things I noted while watching and thought I would share. They are intended as constructive and I would especially like to hear your thoughts (since I am not familiar with Pauper at the moment) if the bounce spells were of concern
2:38 - Cast Wellspring using citadel and drum (tap forger)
3:15 - Cast Wellspring leaving Citadel untapped. Could have left Synod untapped in case of Thoughtcast
7:36 - Not leaving Furnace untapped
7:48 - Perilous Research your Enforcer before Oubillette resolves so his Disciple gets removed. I am largely unfamiliar with Pauper decklists, so if there is potentially a bounce spell that would allow him to reuse Oubilette (and net two cards from CITP Muldrifter), potentially ignore this.
8:18 / 8:38 - I'd be curious to hear why you blast Disciple / Muldrifter. Can only presume to prevent bouncing later (or to protect against counterspells)
starting at 9:13 - Why not cash in Star for a card?
Cant disagree more about the nonbot room thing. I like bots. I like to be able to sell my stuff for fractions of a tix quickly and buy what i need without having to get into a discussion with someone. regardless giving people choices is better for everyone. You should be able to filter out bots altogether, humans altogether or individual humans or bots. Sometimes i do like trading actual people and others do too. The biggest problem with modo is how poor the community is. Communication and socializing are not supported. You can go through a four round event and never really be sure all the other players arent just various AI and AUI programs. I really dislike the reactionary rhetoric about the subject. These days there are very few human traders left and to me thats a sad thing. I dont have the energy to get to the Farmer's market very often but I like knowing its there. Also small scale trading is still capitalism, its actually more capitalistic than only having exclusively larger scale trading. If there were a more robust Mtgo community the whole economy online would be larger and that would benefit us all.
Thanks Chris,

will do, do you think Ancestral Mask will drop about the same?

Well reasoned piece, and I agree on favoring a Wire restriction, but would be happy with either.
That song plus another 20 or so

Do you not listen to a lot of rap, or....
Do you turn into a pumpkin at the break of dawn? I am curious, as a fellow rhymer I never seem to be given a curfew.
Awesome article!
This might be my favourite Magic-related article of this year!
Thanks for the nice words. I will keep playing pauper qeues with new brews to diversify the playing field a bit.
if i could afford to run this list i would but the ak's are so expensive.
You also have to play 4 Smokestack and 4 Staff of Nin. :)
Thanks for sharing the deck list here.
