I face palmed when you tried to mana leak Thrun. Other than that and mistiming on the Snapcast during the Resto play in UWR, well played and it seems like a very powerful deck.
Hey guys. Just noticed that dark ritual is missing from the pillars list. It was there when I submitted. Sorry.
@andre
Vintage is exactly the way you think it is. For instance this version of oath cost 1700. Tix. That investment will let me play oath for years with minimal extra investment. U will have to buy some stuff as the meta game adjusts but the good thing is. The meta is cyclical with the best archetypes rotating around on a wheel.
If your tired of oath. Well for 60 more tix you can build storm and try to win on turn 1.
Tired of that? 100 more tix gets you into a minds laver welder deck and /or young pyromancer.
So. My computer won't do the beta client. After the next article we may be only doing txt articles for a little while. But that's ok right? I did those for a while before I even had a screen recorder.
I haven't even finished reading this yet, and I had to comment on how I love those full art cards.
And I love ministry. I got a reply from al on his facebook page, made me happy like a geeked out fan.
I've played against a version of Possibility Storm deck that uses Ethersworn Canonist to lock out most decks from casting anything the rest of the game
The end of my V3 experience was a Legacy match against romellos, where I was playing my first deck here (a not-really-serious NO-Prog build), and he was playing his last tribal deck (maverick-style Humans).
The match ended 2-1 for him, but I got to win game 2 with an early Progenitus, and my final action was attacking with Worldspine Wurm (possibly the only card that wasn't in the original deck). So I'm satisfied.
Not sure if I'm really ready for the switch. The only time I used V4 was during the first Beta Spotlight, so I'll have to re-familiarize myself with how everything works.
I did update V4 yesterday, but decided to have one last fling with V3. My final session on the old client was a VMA sealed event. I went 4-0 while having some computer issues (not related to MTGO) during the last 2 rounds. I ended round 3 with 0:13 left on my clock and had 0:45 left at the end of round 4. Kind of an interesting end to my V3 experience.
Great new format for the Core Set review. And it's always awesome for our niche format to have a review from its own perspective. Magic 2015 seems to have something for every Standard Pauper deck. Invasive Species should fit perfectly into the Junk Gatekeepers builds that have been winning. I plan on altering my MBC decks to run a combination of Sign in Blood and Read the Bones. White Weenie will probably love Triplicate Spirits, which works perfectly with another reprint not mentioned in this article: Raise the Alarm. That would have been my choice for biggest white reprint over Oppressive Rays - although it's a very interesting fact that post-rotation will be the first Standard Pauper environment without Pacifism. I guess Grakk just isn't feeling so warm and fuzzy anymore :-) Looking forward to the rest of the set review!
While I agree with the basic premise of your argument (and it jibes with what I said above) M15 was probably in final design long before MBD was a deck. That said it is possible that the design/development team for m15 considered future future league results as they contemplated which versions of each pw to include.
I'm pretty sure they didn't reprint Liliana of the Veil in M15 because Mono Black Devotion in Standard would just be the best deck. A lot of Standard players would be miserable for a few months. I don't play a lot of Standard, but if I knew I'd be playing against Mono Black every time I go to FNM, I'd just stop until Khans came out.
I played against a Suicide Black while running a Tron variant. I think it's an interesting deck and I was dead well before I did anything close to stabilizing my board, but I do think it can fairly easily be disrupted as well. It's something that I think is currently at that 1.5 tier. It's not a top deck, but it can contend if opponents aren't ready.
I think 59 of the 60 cards in the main deck are perfect. I like the idea of Karn, I'm not sure I like him as a one of though. The Fabricate in the main has been really ideal so far though, so maybe 60 of 60 are perfect right now?
I'm gonna try spouts and vault both in the board, who knows they might be correct, they might help something out, it might be a waste of time as well, but until there is a large enough sample size to go on, no one really knows right now :D
Thank you much, the RUW (non giest of st traft) version is pretty good, it is one of my most favorite matchups to play against!
Completely agree on everything. Also from an EDH standpoint, having Jace / Garruk / Ajani over and over hurts because of how the legend rule applies to planeswalkers.
I am guessing you decided on your column name based on ELP's Fanfare for the Common Man?

I think Desolate Lighthouse is a land.

Just realized I never updated the final link to the Topdeck Awards. The current votation, for best card drawing, is here.

Now thats what I call interesting, I wasnt aware of Vintage Masters. The power is looking good, might have to make a come back as well now.
I just hope the new client has stopped killing my pc (causing memory issues) so I can play.
An early happy birthday fellow Leo! :)

By the way, in the list of the most notable noncreature nonplaneswalker cards, the second Polymorph's Jest was supposed to be Aetherspouts.
That Festergloom sure made you argumentative. :p

Every time I see that picture of Garruk, I can't help but think of wrestling's Randy Savage.
Reading your discussion of Master of Predicaments reminds me of the poison scene in the Princess Bride.

I think that's part of the reason why it has been done this way. Branding + keeping the strongest versions in check. It is supposed to hurt.
