@Plainswalker83 - I don't have the deck built online unfortunately. I appreciate the offer though, would definitely take you up on that if I could.

@jorzu - How is your Jeskai Aggro matchup? I always feel like an underdog in the matchup since postboard they can just sit there and play instant speed burn on your turn which you have to counter at some point, then they can win counter wars since you have to tap out to actually try and win. 26 lands might be correct, been flooding out a bit with 27.

@Fred1160 - Would you put that in the maindeck or sideboard? I could see myself playing a 2nd one, sometimes the 1st one gets countered or doesn't fully stabilize you like you want it to. I do agree more card draw is needed, but I'm not sure Treasure Cruise is the answer. You really want a way to draw early (something like a think twice or azorius charm would be ideal) so that your ingenuities and digs are much better. Maybe I should just suck it up and play Divination.

I approve this message. Good stuff.

  • Plea for Guidance   10 years 29 weeks ago

I like the deck, but I recommend you find a way to shoehorn a second Resolute Archangel in there. You won't regret it.
One other thing: in a deck with so few non-land permanents Treasure Cruise would be a big boost and should be easy to delve into.

I'm trying out Jeskai Control online for 2 weeks now with great results so far, although my build is different. I have less burn, more counters and more card draw. Win conditions are Sarkhans, Elspeths (2 copies each) and 1 Keranos. I also play only 26 lands and that seems to be enough. PM me online, so we could share ideas.

Marcos- I have UW Heroic, 2 mono red aggro decks, and 2 rw aggro decks built on MTGO. If you want to test against those strategies feel free to add me and shoot me a message. I will be more than happy to help you with your board.

Played a 1v1. Archetype of Endurance + Hunter's Insight + Xenagos = 12 cards. Seize the Day on same turn = 36 cards drawn and 36 damage dealt in same turn. I love this deck so much.

    The magic of reddit! :)

Great article but I'm still scratching my head on how this got over 7K views in a day.

This was reflected in the rules change from "X get +1+1 and y-walk" to "Other x get +1/+1 and y-walk". It also spelt the end of a fun Lord tribal deck.

  • The Accidental Player 47: The Topdeck Awards, "Outstanding Goblin"   10 years 29 weeks ago

Multiples did not pump each other.

It's an easy thing to forget, but when he first came out, he was creature type Lord, not merfolk at all.

  • UB Control: A Sleeper in Standard   10 years 29 weeks ago

Divination is usually played in two scenarios:
    1. It's very late in the game, so you can spend 3 mana and leave enough open on your opponent's turn.
    2. You are stuck on mana or need a specific answer as soon as possible.

In neither case Weave fe fits better, I think. I haven't played other control decks this format, but UB has advantages against other control decks for sure. And Vault gets blown up less than you would think. In the early game, our opponent needs to use mana/skip a turn to Utter End our Vault. In the late game, we can afford to play on 9 mana and crack on the same turn.

I wouldn't bank on Ashiok to steal strong threats. It is more likely to win by milling your opponent. Even more likely, Ashiok will die very soon and it will just make sure that you are not behind on library count and win on turn 40. :)

    Thankee.

  • The Accidental Player 47: The Topdeck Awards, "Outstanding Goblin"   10 years 29 weeks ago

He at least was a bear and gave a relevant walk. :) Oh and multiples pumped each other.

  • The Accidental Player 47: The Topdeck Awards, "Outstanding Goblin"   10 years 29 weeks ago

What about Lord of Atlantis, who pumped only Merfolk of the Pearl Trident?

    Anurid Brushhopper

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

I know, it was a total surprise when I found out that info

  • The Accidental Player 47: The Topdeck Awards, "Outstanding Goblin"   10 years 29 weeks ago

Goblin King originally meant to give mountainwalk to other TWO goblins, one of which had already flying, is hilarious.

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

Anurid Brushhpper (One h or two? can't remember.) There's a white wurm from future sight, Saltskitter, and Norin the Wary. Back from the dead to run away again! Crystal Golem end step phases, I'd need to test that.

Oh man thanks Re, I have been eating mushrooms on $1 pizza slices lately not really thinking about it but I have been craving them. Sadly canned mushrooms aren't the same. But hey maybe my Dad (who is an avid mushroom hunter can bring some into the City for me.)

That's pretty incredible considering how they grow. (In the dark.)

Paul: as for your Vitamin D deficiency: Mushrooms when put into the sun (UV light) for an hour will naturally make Vitamin D.

So go enjoy some mushrooms :)

I've been playing it a while too and find it quite good. I don't do planeswalkers in my brew, but have been toying with putting Ashiok in as he can nab some pretty powerful critters if you can protect him.

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

You're certainly welcome to your opinion but how are you feeling insulted by what I wrote? That isn't terribly clear.

But to be clearer myself in case there is some misunderstanding I don't think anyone who uses 4chan, Reddit and the like are necessarily moldy, or misogynists or whatever other brush they may be painted with, despite what their image as sites may be. I do think they come off that way to the public and that is what I was pointing out.

Meaning that identifying with known crows may make you seem like a crow. (Aesop's fable reference.) And the point I was making is not conflicting with my final statement in the verse you quoted.

Don't believe the hype, don't be the hype. Live and let live. And don't be part of the hysteria.

Hope that clears up any misunderstandings you may have with my text and that you don't have any hurt feelings over any of it.

You are certainly a welcome contributor to this community and site and while we may not see eye to eye over the magic field I do respect your play ability.

Also never apologize for calling someone out. It waters down the impact or seems ironic.

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

I'm sorry Paul but the following is the most hypocritical paragraph I've read on this site:

    Gamers Unite!
I know, we are past #gamergate already. And who cares what a bunch of angsty, perhaps moldy even, possibly misogynists from 4chan, reddit and the like think? Unless you happen to be one and then you might care how others are making you look. It is so uncool to be a douche that even douches hate the term. By the way the correct definition of Douche is "Useless Sexist Tool" and as far as I am concerned, in re: #Gamergate #crackgate #finkelgate and the like? Don't be one. Work it out, grow up a little, be a man (or woman, anything in between) in the sense of owning your own problems and not borrowing others and remember that every other being in this world shares the boat you are in.

You're implying insults all around, and borrowing other peoples problems.

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

Thanks AJ, well I mentioned Obzedat, and there is Aetherling. I think Restoration Angel, Momentary Blink and the like all work too. I believe there will be some more research into the subject shortly. :D

    Isn't there a frog that self-exiles?

  • Into the Winter   10 years 29 weeks ago

Lovely stuff. Towershell Lich amuses me and makes me wonder what other self-exilers can be abused.
