I agree with your comments about futher reborn cards. I am curious to test also Time Sieve & the uncounterable behemot ...
In both of the UB deck, i have some questions :
> why dont you run dmonic tutor ? I agree about DC consistency, but isnt demonic tutor enough good to enter in these build ? I usualy put it in a lot of different build, and i think it could be interesting in these.
> in tog deck, i really like to run Disrupt also because of the counter it provides as well, but also because of its cantrip effect which is pretty good to feed tog, dryad (and coatl)... Any reasons not to play it ?
> did you try to run standstill in a tog shell ? I didnt but i would but curious to know how it does fit into these build ...
very creative, and enjoyable. Not sure why whiffy would be overly critical in a deck that was clearly designed to be both fun and more importantly CASUAL. P.S. Keep writing. ;)
Thank you all for the positive feedback after the initial negative response, doing a interview isn't as easy as many would think. I tried to base the interview on a more average player perspective as I tend to be very competitive and could care less about what I thought yet majority of the viewers seem to be your average player so I delved into more information on the player and the deck choice.
Thanks
Keep on commenting and don't forget to comment on your liking of articles etc? What do viewers wanna see?
Grimoire thief over silvergil adept is absolutely bananas wrong. Silvergil is one of the best cards in the deck, allowing you to actually mulligan the many awkward hands and still get everything you need.
Also never concede to an elf player. F6 and get a drink or something, a lot of elf players aren't good enough to kill you twice on their 30 minute chess clock.
i dont want to discourage you and im not saying that it has to be powerful just maybe a little more thought before you submit. the layout was good for a first time writer. i know myself that its tough to get the knack for it.
you also wrote well but the end result made me feel it was lacking. for your next one just back up why you are making the choices you do. the deck dosent need to be the best i wininate every match up list, but a little more depth would go a long way.
To be completely honest, my goal on this was mostly to test the waters and see what I could come up with. I was trying to get a feel for how writing a column works, so I gave it a shot. I'm glad the humor wasn't completely lost though. This was intended to be a fairly casual deck; perhaps too casual, and I understand that.
In defense, though, the deck is better than the credit you're giving it. It can and has won a number of games.
Point taken though; next time I'll give game descriptions and raise the power level.
I've had one but I was just too lazy to login! I enjoyed the interview a lot, it's good to be able to get to know a bit about the person behind the username.
Not to be harsh here but what was the point of this article? You run around and claim this and that while trying to put a comical spin on deck building( which i did enjoy) but the end result still looks like a preconstructed deck. I know that this is a casual deck but seriously can this pile even win a game in even the most casual of atmospheres? Next time how bout a little match up anaylasis to back up the seemingly random ideas you throw around? ie maybe play the deck a bit and see if it works?
It looks like hammy used the IP address instead of the URL to hotlink to my picture, so when my IP changed the link broke. The correct URL is http://www.bubbaland.net/magic/QP-S2W1_sm.gif
I consider myself as an experienced Block player. I agree with everything you said and also want to add one other point.
DO NOT GET DISTRACTED BY PLANESWALKERS:
Your ultimate goal is to lower your opponent's life total to zero. From time to time I see players who are obsessed with killing my Elspeth rather than killing me! That's a mistake.
Ajani may leave an important creature of yours tapped but if you have other creatures on table and can keep the path to the opponent clear, do not bother with the catman. Just attack and finish the game for crying out loud!!!
Oh and a second thing. Knight of the Reliquary is a "she" not a "he". :)) Just wanted to mention.
The Ham-Jones with the values is a great improvement, try that with solid bars and you are good imho.
The individual card graphs are worse though, the orange is too thick, the background distracting and the numbers on Dream Fracture just broken. Oh and the Bubba picture is broken for me, too.
I have a simple yet essential one: don't forget that PTE can also be used on YOUR creatures for mana fixing. I do that rather often, but rarely see other ppleople doing it (evenif they are manascrewed).
Great article, btw. I often run into the Ajani as lightning helix falancy myself.
Yeah I wish more people would log in and rate when they post that would help. :) Hopefully as the site grows the ratings will be more accurate. I don't like letting one guy ruin a rating.
I have nothing further to add to the above comments, but I think the rating of the article is a joke (and I think the ratings on the articles are problematic in the first place!), so I felt obligated to post my approval.
I ran BR Husk (list forthcoming in the article, of course). As far as Mono-Blue Aggro, I have no idea what it looked like. We'll know more come Thursday when the top 8 decks are released to the public.
I tested the mill deck -- it's no good. In order to protect yourself while you get the mill stuff working you have to play cards that are actually good -- and if you're doing that you might as well play good win conditions rather than mill cards that do nothing.
I think the key is in Esper, but people don't have the right build for it. Sphinx recursion cycle is very powerful -- you just have to stay alive long enough to get it online. Tidehollow Sculler really doesn't accomplish that, but I see 4x of it in the Esper lists, and 4 Sanctum Gargoyles when you really only need 1-2, which frees up room for other cards that are actually good.
I have to say I like Exodus's build better there. In 10th you always want to try to go two color if you can, the increased consistency will win you more games. And only 12 creatures? That's a little light in general, and it makes your Scion of the Wild worse in specific. Craw Wurms are awesome in the format, always worth a high pick in draft. Elven Riders are stronger than the Cloud Elemental. The Fenneref archers shut down any flyers you might run into, worth maindecking & you could side them out any game where they have zero flyers. If you must splash, better to keep it down to 1-2 cards. Like just Sift or Sift and Looter. Or you could splash red for Incinerate and Pyroclasm - worth siding over to at least if someone faces you with a weenie deck.
Seriously though. You gotta play Craw Wurms when you're in green. Instead of mana accel to cast them on turn 5, you have FIVE removal spells to make sure you surive till turn 6. Or SEVEN if you splash red. It's a slow format, you're going to get to cast those bad boys. And with a chance of cloaking them up? Yow.
Nice article whiffy :)

Just wanted to say that this was a really good article.
I've played a fair bit of block in the 2 mans, and most of these examples are very relevant.
I've done several on this list (I won't embarrass myself and say how many ;-)!).
More articles like this would be great, perhaps for limited or other formats.
Cheers
Very nice.

not that it matters but did the other pics in this article get deleted for some reason?

Both on being vindicated and on your 10th place finish! Out of curiosity, what did you run, and what the heck did that MU Aggro Dec look like?
Sucks that I couldn't play, but top8 nice and diverse as always. Healthy.
92 players, and the top 8 broke down like this:
2 Cloak Aggro
1 WW
1 Slivers
1 Mono-Blue Aggro
1 MUC
1 Storm
1 Affinity
Not even a deck with a Swamp.

I like the shambles dec a lot. I'm gonna try to run it with a more budget manabase
