I don't understand.. you just have to live a little longer??
To do what?
Even if you survive up to play this card, which I rather doubt since white is much much weaker now, then what? The board is erased and your opponent, which is likely to have hasty cards, is gonna kill you next turn....
It's just the most apparent case of bad design (there are many many others, and the subtler ones are horrible signs of what went on..).
Nothing. WotC intentionally made it so that the *player* decides if they are eligible or not, rather than, say, use the billing address of the account.
So what exactly stops people from outside the U.S. from just saying you are inside the U.S.? There are probably tens of thousands of MTGO accounts and Wizards is not going to spend the manpower to check people. If the difference between getting and not getting the rewards is clicking the YES box under eligibility I don't see why people don't just do that, regardless of your actual location.
It's odd that such a card jumps to a high value. You can much more easily draft the card with Tempest drafts (and get a chance for other nice Classic hits like Scroll Rack, Grindstone, Cursed Scroll, Relfecting Pool, Tradewind Rider, Aluren, Earthcraft, et al) without having to hope for it's Mythic status in M10.
Its all in the eye of the beholder right? I don't care for the art on the textless damnation. The original art looks much cooler imho. But that's all it is, an opinion. Also it probably would look better larger. It is very hard to retain good details in artwork when shrinking it to the size of magic cards even textless. All the same I bet those Damnations sell for a pretty virtual penny.
I'm sure that Wizards is working on getting the program going in other countries, but every country will need individual legal review. It's hardly my area of expertice, but at a minimum, Wizards legal team would have to make sure that
1) The program does not look like it is selling the rewards to customers. (If it did, someone will probably have to pay taxes, and lots of other regs probably apply, etc.)
2) That the rewards program doesn't look like a lottery, or pyramid scheme, or any other banned/regulated/specially taxed sort of thing.
I could probably drag the list to a dozen items, but you get the idea.
On the plus side, I would guess that Wizards will get the progem up in areas with larger populations and/or legal systems that are similar to the US. That should put the UK near the top of the list.
I think i just figured it out...the Disciples hit play as well and they stick, thus multiple Disciples triggering all the artifacts that hit the graveyard. i got it now. i think my initial confusion was trying to understand the wording of flash and how protean hulk actually comes into play before you have to pay it's casting cost...at which point you can't pay it's casting cost and it hits the graveyard bringing all the creatures from the deck into play.
Well, small victory for me seeing the combo at last. :-)
I've been reading articles on here for the past several weeks and i've really enjoyed the deck designs and commentary. I haven't played since Odyssey block and i'm wanting to get back into the scene in an online capacity...so forgive this question, but i'm not seeing the combo here. Could somebody run down a quick synopsis of this deck? i was guessing that you put the artifact creatures into play at 0/0, sending them to the graveyard once they resolve thus triggering multiple Disciple's...but i feel like i'm missing something given that this deck can win on turn two. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I certainly hope this isn't part of a plan to turn Magic into a "strictly creature combat game." That is definitely not more fun. I hate just playing guys and turning them sideways.
It doesn't seem like that's the goal with this card. It doesn't seem like it will fit with the fast aggro we're seeing, but that seems like more an an oversight than an actual evil plan. It's almost cheap enough, and it will be nice to destroy Planeswalkers.
When you consider the solid removal white already has, maybe this card is fast enough (excluding Oblivion Ring of course). Run white removal with a mix of Essence Scatter, Negate, Cancel, Cryptic Command, and Broken Ambitions and you just might keep aggro at bay.
The art is awesome. This art would have been perfectly acceptable on WoG though :)
I think it's a playable card, mainly because there are some good walls to stall aggro, although being so much slower and requiring you to play blockers or other removal as it does, it's never going to give you the kind of card advantage and tempo wrath did. The triple white is also pretty harsh - PLAY MOAR DUALS WE PRINTED NEW ONES AGAIN. I suppose a monowhite control deck is possible at this point - all the good removal and all the good finishers are in white, anyway. Oh, and Elspeth. Elspeth is just nuts. 2WW: stop playing Magic and start a subgame of "kill the elspeth". If you can't, you lose the game.
Have i to say again that these article series are bombs ? =P
By the way, i really dont like the textless damnation compared to the original art (even pretty ugly to me), but it doesnt matter, i cannot participate to the reward program ...

there is no way time warp will see serious play...
Nothing. WotC intentionally made it so that the *player* decides if they are eligible or not, rather than, say, use the billing address of the account.
I can actually aee time warp in a u/x.bant deck. Getting an extra turn of exalted attack is preety solid, I think.

Enjoyable writeup. Good job. and yes, you figured the combo out MK.
Time Warp up to 8?! I wish I'd bought more than one last week...
Wow Godot!!!!
You are a really lucky badass!!!

Anyone down for a Tempest draft? :)

good catch, but this probably means Ingrid won't agree to me spending $150k.
:(

at least this hits Planeswalkers, they are far more powerful and harder to kill without using a creature based strategy..

Yeah, I think the textless Damnation has some ridiculous cool art!!
Totally love it!

Nice as always.
whatever you think of it that art kicks ass!!
Oh. Except I'm from the UK, and as a result my custom is less valuable, and not deservant of some free lands..
Great art? On the textless damnation? srsly? Anyway, I reckon I probably play enough to be aiming for a thoctar, so I guess that's cool.
