http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/this-week-in-development-five-to... Really? Jones/Ruel, Shuhei/Gadiel, and Kenny/LSV disagree that aggro is not the easiest deck to play.

  • Learning to Loot   13 years 41 weeks ago

Emotionally perhaps but each has its pitfalls and learning curve and some people think better with one type than the others.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

You might try getting a precon set of two to play with him before the release or two a mini sealed (three boosters each, 25 card decks) to practice new cards before you go next time.

The fish deck that 4-0ed the event was in fact GWB and did have things like Yailer MD - that helps alot ,)

  • Learning to Loot   13 years 41 weeks ago

actually playing aggro is much easier than playing control or combo

basically the images need to be in the directories where the image manager finds them to link them properly. Other than that some server side code (a couple lines at most) may be needed. That's my guess anyway.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

fit that in the ??? section.

  • Learning to Loot   13 years 41 weeks ago

well written, focused, analytical, valid, and useful. Amazing work sir!

I look forward to your future writing.

  • The Impact of Innistrad: Flipping Cards!   13 years 41 weeks ago

yeah, your review will help nicely when drafting this set. I can't wait for it to be on mtgo.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

This is what I understand and i may be wrong. When the pics go live on mtgotraders.com they go live here on puremtgo.com. It's not the best system, and I would love to fix it, my hands are tied though because I have no idea how to do it :(

  • Penguin TV - 4c Fish (No R)   13 years 41 weeks ago

trygon could probably be replaced, but with the tempered steel and affinity decks (and to a lesser extent pyromancer's ascension) i figured it would be a good start. The shock lands aren't too bad and I have some games that it makes me say live by Bob, die by Bob.

Right now I'm about 75% winning, but it seems to roll over against elves.

If it's in 1 to 5, 5 being highest, Instigator Gang gets 5/5. It's better than Garruk for aggro strategies, though you'll want both if you can manage it.

The online cards are released about a month later is the biggest difference.

  • Penguin TV - Sun Titan Dredge   13 years 41 weeks ago

Lots of comments - first of all great to see dredge in the videos, which I think is a seriously underestimated deck in terms of how hard it is to play. Piloting the deck well is a factor in how well it plays much more then people normally give that factor credit.

Secondly, I'd say the reason dredge should work well in the meta is because fish.dec nomally can't mull into Leyline as much as they'd like without risking all their gas, and they have little to help if god forbid you end up with a graveyard. You are simply going to out 2/2 dork them in the end. But then of course a GW fish deck 4-0ed that event... don't know how much dredge it played to get there.

Lastly, yes we need to get these PEs and DEs to fire. The average person with a classic collection owns like $2k or more of cards but won't pay 6tix for a good chance to win packs... it's infuriating! A DE takes a little more than 2hrs. Let's fire some more of these!!!

a daughter who is 3 as well, though she has no interest in the cards, aside from wanting the ones her brother is looking at.

PS..I don't like the exclamation point when you mention Rd 2 Laura had been playing "quite a while" since 1995..this is when I started and it just made me feel old..which i am, but still... :-P

PSS..the Ashmouth hound rule..there was a mini tribe in Nemesis I think that did this effect..can't remember their name, but was 3 or 4 cards, so this is a good tip as hopefully we will be getting Masques block online at some point soon.

This is not a complaint, so please don't take it as one. I know the content on this site is free, so I will take what I can get. But what is the barrier in preventing card images being installed more quickly on this site? Sheer curiosity.

Channelfiresphere gets theirs going even prior to a set launch. Is it just a technical limitation that the site editor chooses not to deal with? Apathy?

I don't know the technical differences between the two sites so I'm probably trying to compare apples to oranges.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

    Pomplamoose fan or the original?

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

Yea, she wants to pretty badly, but I'm going to hold off a bit. I'd rather her want to play than hate it cuz it was too frustrating to learn.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

Well, I can too I guess. I didn't think of just splashing a few new cards in from gatherer. If I had it to do over I probably would have done that and linked to the full sortable spoiler at the start of the article or something.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

If you can get her to sit still for twice that she can learn about things like tapping and untapping.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

Yeah silly intarwebs memes. :p But hey it gives you the picture. Nice quote there.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

Send me your articles via email...and I can put in pics for you. For Value.

    I know basic html.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

I have to agree. Interesting read...more sparkles....

I do read books, but I like images when I browse thuh intarwebz. For value.

  • Innistrad Sealed #1   13 years 41 weeks ago

I do agree. We have a pretty good shop for dealing with that sort of thing since there are a lot of smart players at the store and the judge is usually 3rd-place Nationals Finisher (from a while back) Chris Tobler. It also helps that Scott, the owner, doesn't give out the foils til after R1 starts, so it's a little harder for people to get the idea that they go in the deck right away.

My daughter is 2.9ish and is already psyched to learn Magic. Her attention span is like 13 seconds though so I'm going to have to hold off a little longer.
